I'm currently preparing for the Chapter 1 final encounter with Baolen and I'm struggling to understand the suggested way on running the encounter. "Baolen attacks the PCs as soon as they enter the hall, using his first turn to engage the party and fill the chamber with his Ink Cloud."
The Kraken's Ink Cloud reads to me as a method of escape. A fight inside of an Ink Cloud sounds like a terrible game of battleship with a near full minute of no one being able to do anything? "The kraken releases a cloud of black, venomous ink in an 80- foot emanation. This cloud has no effect outside water. Creatures inside the ink cloud are exposed to kraken ink poison and are *undetected* while inside the cloud. The kraken can't use Ink Cloud again for 2d6 rounds, and the cloud dissipates after 1 minute."
Undetected??? The Kraken can't detect the PCs, the PCs can't detect the Kraken, and PCs can't detect the PCs.
Are there any suggestions on how to run this or how to homebrew the ability to not be as bad of a combat experience? I'm thinking of per turn saving throws or be blinded/dazzled, in addition to an environmental effect where you can only see adjacent tiles.
