I thought that might be the case, but the feats that existed to keep this from being a pain no longer exist - for the better, I suppose. The lack of those same feats keep our fighter from using a large greatsword.

Hi all - My regular group is converting from 3.5 to PF a few adventures into the old Shackled City Adventure Path. I play a sword & board halfling paladin that used a meduim short sword - with no major penalties via DM caveat.

Are there any rules or specifics that allow or disallow this in Pathfinder ? I feel that the similarity between a halfling longsword and regular shortsword is striking (except slashing vs. piercing) and I don't want to get nailed on something a little bit down the line.

Start your own (or get someone else to) side game. I have played for nearly 20 years, trust me on this. This is the only way to permanently fix the situation. You can play the Real Life charisma card and recruit some new players in addition to the players that agree with you.

This game needs more new blood anyway. The end result will be that either that they really want y'all back - then you have a bargaining chip. Otherwise, I guarantee you you will be having a blast with your new group in no time.
