Burnak grew up in the streets of Caliphas, knowing only his mother as his father left them before he was born. His mother was a working girl and Burnak grew up surrounded by crime and harsh punishment. Always a strong lad, he played to his strengths and learned to talk with his fists before he'd reached his teenage years.

His mother died when he was fifteen and since then he's been getting by using his wits and his fists; he'd pick up work from various crime lords as well as fighting for money in back street brawls.

He met the Professor one night by chance; the Professor was meeting with a shady contact when they were set upon by local thugs. It was less the feeling of doing something right more than the fact that he hated the thug who was the leader of the group and Burnak took the opportunity to put the man in this place. The Professor was grateful for the assistance and so began an unlikely friendship between the two.

The Professor would often visit Burnak when he was in Caliphas and taught him to read and write, as well as imparting a little of his noble soul. Burnak fought less and spoke more and the Professor paid him as a bodyguard now and again.

Burnak was dismayed to hear about the Professor's death and has made the trip to Harrowstone to attend his funeral.
