I'll ready an action to attack the wolf when it goes past. Getting rid of that ally will hopefully make the rest of the battle much easier. And as The Mauler will have already moved which will at least buy everyone else a round to try and catch up.

If he or the hound is right next to me, Bulgo will pounce (i.e. full attack with TWF and sneak attack) and pray the others are close behind. If I'll only get a single attack, I'll stay hidden until there is more support available

Bulgo leaps from the walkway at the edge of the sewer to the plinth out of the water, and then on to the next one, taking his time as he does so. Takes ten for 23 on each acrobatics check, which should be plenty for each 5' jump, even with difficult terrain

I'm easy with it either way. I've played and GMed them. Some in later seasons are more "inspired by" the chase rules than strictly following them. Game has to be fun for the GM too, I'm happy to go with option 2. BTW, I'll be away from new years eve for a week, so you may need to bot me for a bit.

Bulgo's eyes light up. "Witness at Vilk's trial? His trial for what, may I ask?" As the carriage goes through the town, Bulgo keeps his eyes open for herbalists or other places that might be useful to visit. Once in the safe house the halfing happily puts up his feet for a couple of minutes. "No sense in wearing ourselves out before we meet Vilk..if indeed it is him." he says while waiting for the tea. "Did you see that weapon shop? I'm definitely going to go get some new blades and maybe some armor too. Be a fool to go up against this without the right tool."
