Dragon's Demand runs like a mini-AP as far as awarding chronicles, I believe. It can be run in either "module mode" or "campaign mode." In module mode, the adventure is broken up into three module-equivalent chunks that cover most, but not all of the book, which can be played as independent modules with legal PFS character. They don't need to play them in order, or even with the same party. In campaign mode, you play through the whole thing start to finish, don't need to follow PFS rules, and get all the chronicles at the end, which are applied as if you had played a pregen. It sounds like this one will be in campaign mode, so you don't need a registered character, and the DM is free to set and enforce the rules however he or she deems best.
