"Oh, I can help." He says, moving forward and squatting down before the shopkeeper. Brightberry picks two red berries off of his person, and gets Oreld to eat them. Redleaf remains at the rear of the store, leaning on his spear like a bored guard.
Brightberry has had a couple of short runs in Kingmaker campaigns, and one post-kingmaker campaign. They all fizzled out at level 1 or 2. I would love to take part in a long term campaign. His ultimate goal is to create loads of bodies for the spirits of the forest to inhabit, creating a community of leshies to become stewards of the forest. As such, his enemies are anyone or anything looking to destroy the forest. He has a hatred for loggers in particular. Humans looking to destroy the land to create their cities are also on his list, although he is wise enough to work with them in order to change their idea of what a 'city' needs to be in order to work with the land instead of against it. Evil fey or aberrations who corrupt nature are the worst of the worst! As for Brightberry's person: I'm in my mid forties and have been gaming since fifth or sixth grade. Advanced D&D, 2nd ed., 3rd ed., 3.5, Pathfinder, Pathfinder 2e has been my main progression. I also run a D&D club for the kids at the high school I teach at.
This poor guy has started 3 or 4 different campaigns, all of which fizzled out early. He has adventured in both 1e as well as 2e. All he really wants to do is protect the forest and raise a crop of leshies to populate it. I'd love another crack at adventuring, either in another campaign or as a solo artist. If anyone would be willing to run some pbp solo adventures for BB, his person would reciprocate by dming for a character. Brightberry just wants to live!

I agree tribute. I don't need to see the hidden roles. Maybe, Jade, wet just need to ask If such and such bonus was added after the fact. And then it could be amended if need be. Tribute, I think you've been doing a pretty good job at describing the actions that take place in a narrative way, but these two dinosaurs seem to have come out of nowhere and just abruptly ate me. A narrative of how they were sneaking through the underbrush and even though Bright Berry was trying to train the donkeys how to be alert, the dinosaurs were too quiet and got to jump on them would have felt better. ◆ stealth

I don't want an "easy mode'. I also don't want another player added to try and even the fights out. That would just slow things down. What I have an issue with is not being able to play the game. Like Jade was saying, my character, and familiar, was down and dying before we even knew there was a threat. It did seem like they magically appeared to drop us without needing to sneak, or use extra strides to get there. If we did get perceptions, we didn't see it. Getting taken out and wait for someone to bring me back or die because of randomness sucks. If it was due to poor planning or execution of abilities on my part, that's acceptable. I even added that I was attempting to use a feat to train the donkeys to alert us off danger. That's another opportunity to allow the characters an opportunity to take part in the game instead of just dying. I placed myself in a good spot, I have on okay perception, and I used my nearly useless feat to roleplay a tactical advantage... And then got instantly knocked out, lol. No fun. I just want to be given an opportunity.

Jeez! BB doesn't have a horrible perception. Neither does RL, and they just ate us! Edoom, this is still first watch. Man, it even had to be a natural animal that eats the druid.

Brightberry places himself away from the campfire, bad memories, and near the pack animals. If anything approaches, he assumes they would be the first to tell. He is also using his Train animal feat to train the animals to neigh and nicker when they become aware of something approaching camp. This usually takes a week or so for them to pick up, so he thought he would work on it while camping with them. "Yes, see that squirrel? No need to alert us about him...but what's that?"

Brightberry seems very interested in the goings on of "making camp ". For himself, he has no sleeping bag or tent, does not eat an evening meal, and does not need to go relieve himself. @Jade "So, are you a fox that turns into human or a human that turns into a fox? You seem very person-like. I'm part of the forest pretending to be a stick person."

wild empathy checks (see above) can take up to a minute, with DM's discretion. So I assume I am still working off of that roll. BB will nudge the boar toward the wolves and back away, motioning for everyone else to do the same.

Seeing that the situation has changed, and that the wolf family is back, and potentially well fed, Brightberry moves into action. ◆ Stride Brightberry moves up behind Edoom. "Redleaf, we have a friend down and friends yet to make." ◆ Interact
◆ Redleaf, with the independent trait, will take the berry to Edoom to feed it to him. Not sure if this counts as two actions from Redleaf or not. I would think one, since I moved us into position, but it's an interesting situation. If it takes two, the healing happens next round. Healing fruit: 1d8 ⇒ 7
◆ Wild Empathy
To his allies, "Let's see if we can let the wolves have that boar and us take this one. If that doesn't work, they can have this one too. We can leaf them alone hopefully." Wild Empathy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

You may notice on the trip that BB does not partake of the rations. If asked, he says something about being his own chef and that he just needs to do something called 'grounding' every once in awhile. Grounding Lisa just like standing around, though. While in Nivakta's Crossing, BB will comment, to anyone who will listen, how the town's defenses could be enhanced with living trees and shrubs. He also speaks of how water harvesting could benefit the town's needs. He also asks of other plant people, most likely disappointed with the answer. Very interested in their canine friends, he names them; Bika, Nila, and Hank. "This is all very nice, but I also think we should head right for Olegs. We might be sorely needed."

Tibold, I have a PF2 fighter in our home campaign that fights one-handed and with his feat selection either pushes people or combat grabs them to make them flat-footed against everyone else in the group. That seems to work pretty well, especially since we have rogue in the group. Lyra, I thought the Rune was going to Edoom, butt I could be wrong. I'm fine with you handling our merchant needs off camera. I don't think BB is in need of much.

"Sometimes it is better to wait for a wind before letting a seed to fall from a tree. Unless the ground is about to freeze for the year, I guess. Anyway, I think it would be worth our time if we have the time. We can get a horse and cart along with provisions while we wait. 'Guardians of the Green', let's get ready!" Brightberry says with a little fist pump. Redleaf pops up onto his shoulder and mimics his fist pump.

I'm not sure that court guards would use hand crossbows. That's more of a scoundrel's weapon. I think a cart and horse is a fantastic idea! Brightberry is not in need of any outdoor gear, but he would offer to carry the potions. For those times when his spells and berries wear out, he could continue to heal as needed.

Waking up from dreams of a breeze blowing through the branches, Brightberry looks up to see a fox person looking down on him. After re-orientating himself back to the physical world, he greets her. "Hello Jade Pearls that Dance Upon the Waves at Moonlight. Thank you for waking me up. I almost forgot to come back on my own." Brighberry accepts the medal with solemnity, and then stumbles forth a smidge at the weight of the object. Greenbelt. That sounds like the perfect place ever! I can give body to the forest and raise up guardians to make a nature friendly kingdom. Oooh. I will probably need gold for the rituals needed to do this. Brightberry lifts the golden medallion to his mouth to bite at it with his bark gums, as he's seen other humanoids to when receiving such material. This will be a good start. Maybe the others will decide to carry some of that equipment to sell for us. At the mention of gear... "It sounds like we are both in need. We will need money to start a kingdom, and Lady Jumandi needs equipment for her troops." Brightberry then holds up his twiggy arms. "I can't carry that much. I can't carry that much and I don't have a cart. Maybe we carry some fancy expensive stuff like the hand crossbows and leave the simple useful stuff here?" At the mention of a moniker... "Oooh! I like the Greenbelt motif. Maybe something with the word green? 'The Green Counsel', 'Greenies', 'Green Blades'? We could be the Green Blades of Green Belt."

Jade Pearls wrote: So, if I had a healing potion in hand and wanted to heal Lyra, it would not have to be: I use an action to move, and then one to hand it to her, and then she spends one to drink it. Rather, I spend one to get to her, and then one to feed it to her, which can be very helpful for getting potions to your sword and board character. Would that work for feeding good berries to am alley as well?

I've been reading some interesting message boards about what a familiar does when you master goes unconscious. Most seem to agree that the familiar continues to act on its own instincts, which are typically to defend itself and defend its master. Redleaf would know that Bright Berry has a racial berry, a bright one owing to host name sake, on his person. I would hope that once it we're safe to do so he would administer the berry to his master. GM tribute, just let me know what you're ruling on this is, please. I hope that I won't go unconscious many more times but hey, but you never know.

Brightberry shakes his head at the mounted heads. "Murder for art. I wonder why there are no human heads won from battles up there." At the sounds of battle, Brightberry looks to the others. "I can open one of the doors and follow you in. Maybe this is the boss and it will be over now."
