What about the Grell, are they still protected?

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I'm building a level 1 Alchemist for an upcoming campaign and I wanted to make sure I was clear on the rules regarding potions vs extracts.

The rules in the APG list the formulae for extracts, but the Alchemist class has the Brew Potion feat from first level. Are the potions an Alchemist can create limited to the formula list, or can an alchemist create a potion for spells from the Core Rulebook like a wizard can?

I ask because it seems clear that potions are different from extracts and I'd like to see if an Alchemist can brew a potion of Mage Armor.

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

I'd like to see an entire hardcover Beastiary devoted to dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, including marine reptiles.

A Beastiary or sourcebook on monstrous humanoids would be cool as well.

I'd also like to see some smaller softcover books devoted to specific core classes.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The worst movie I've ever seen would have to be...

Napoleon Dynamite.

Absolutely, totally and completely unfunny.

Evasion. Either dump it entirely or modify it so at least some damage is still dealt.
As a DM I've always felt Evasion was broken.

Yes, we will be doing a GM screen, probably in September. We do our announcements in four-month batches, and the current batch ended in August. So just because we haven't yet announced a product publicly doesn't mean we aren't doing it.

In this case, we WILL do it, but we haven't yet figured out the product's features, price, etc., so we have not yet made an announcement.

Excellent, Mister Mona. This announcement pleases me. When the world is mine, your death shall be quick and painless.

Will we see the Chuul in the Beastiary?

Since I'm a huge dino buff, I feel compelled to respond.

I apologize if any simiar ideas have been discussed else where on this thread, I haven't read all of it yet. The Beastiary should have about 6 to 10 dino species. I think they should be:
Tyrannosaurus rex (of course)
Velocirapor
Dilophosaurus
Stegosaurus
Triceratops
Apatosaurus (brontosaurus)
Pteranodon

As for new abilites:
Tyrannosaurus should have Frightful Presence, an enhanced tracking ability and some kind of Augmented critical or Devestating critical added to its bite attack. In addition, and T. rex bite attack made on a large sized or bigger creature should cause bleeding damage each round thereafter until healed.

Velociraptor/Deinonychus should have some kind of ability that reflects their nature as pack hunters. Perhaps a bonus to their attacks for each member of the pack. For example, if a pack of raptors has 6 members, then each pack member recieves a +6 bonus to his attacks. This bonus would decrese during a battle as pack members are eliminated, but it would make them a real threat at the start of a fight.

Stegosaurs, like the Tyrannosaurs, could have an Augmented critical tail spike attack.

Triceratops could have a thick hide, giving it damage reduction vs edged weapon attacks.

Apatosaurus could prehaps have a stomp attack. These kinds of dinosaurs (sauropods) could rear up on their hind legs. Imagine the kind of crushing damage a sauropod could cause by slamming down on its target with its front legs. A ground shaking effect could accompany this, knocking prone all foes within 30 feet.

Dilophosaurus can go the Jurassic Park route with the spitting venom.

Pteranodon could perhaps snatch and then drop opponents.

The grell and the hook horror are owned by Wizards of the Coast. They will never be in a Pathfinder Bestiary. Just the way it is, alas.

Oh well, I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. Did you by any chance improve the stats and CR of Tyrannosaurus rex? In the MM1 he's a CR 8 critter. I always thought T. rex should be far more powerful.

The grell is closed content.

Most of what's in the 3.5 Monster Manual is open, with the exception of a dozen or so monsters (illithid, displacer beast, carrion crawler, umber hulk, kuo-toa, yuan-ti, beholders, githyanki, githzerai, and the slaadi for sure).

Most of what's in the 3rd edition MM2 and the Monsters of Faerun softcover are not open, unless the monster is from mythology (like the banshee or the linnorms), in which case the monster is public domain.

Many of the classic D&D monsters that weren't in the MM2 or MoF were then picked up by the Tome of Horrors and made into open content, with WotC's permission. But as a result, there's a "window" that includes things like grells, hook horrors, ixitxachitils, some of the daemons, and other classic monsters in a weird non-open limbo.

So will the Grell be in the Beastiary or no? I sure hope you guys manage to pull it off.
