Variant Racial Traits

Granite Skin: Rocky growths cover the skin of oreads with this racial trait. They gain a +1 racial bonus to natural armor. This racial trait replaces energy resistance.
Stone in the Blood: Oreads with this racial trait mimic the healing abilities of the mephits, gaining fast healing 2 for 1 round anytime they are subject to acid damage (the acid damage does not need to overcome the oread's resistances or immunities to activate this ability). The Oread can heal up to 2 hit points per level per day with this ability, after which it ceases to function. This racial trait replaces earth affinity.
Ferrous Growth: Oreads with this racial trait learn how to mimic the magic of their shaitan ancestors. Once per day, such an Oread can cause a touched piece of non-magical iron or steel to grow into an object up to 10 pounds in weight, such as a sword, crowbar, or light steel shield. This object remains in this form for 10 minutes or until broken or destroyed, at which point it shrinks back to its original size and shape. This racial trait replaces the spell-like ability racial trait.

Personality
Breccia is a creature of few words. When he speaks, it is always for a purpose, never for the enjoyment of conversation, never a word used in excess. His speech is terse and to the point, often times giving a misrepresentation that he is unhappy or otherwise unsociable. Breccia enjoys the company of others, however he finds the quiet observation of others more enjoyable than actual interaction or prolific speaking. Much of this level attitude follows Breccia through his interactions. He rarely acts first and at times seems pondrous, up until he has comitted to a course of action, then his pondrous nature becomes something more akin to relentless. Breccia does not make friends easily, but he also does not break those bonds of friendship easily either. Turning on his former master, Izah, was a major and difficult decision for Breccia to make. His decisions are never marred by notions of what is "right" or "correct" but what is most efficient.

Description
At seven feet tall, Breccia is an intimidating looking figure. Clad head to toe in a suit of plate armor made from layered pieces of smooth gray stone, he resembles a stone golem more than a living creature. Breccia's skin is a deep gray with a fine-grained matrix of gold leaf colored minerals streaked through. Like the rest of his "formation " as he calls his brothers, Breccia's flesh is covered in a tough layer of rocky deposits. For grooming purposes, Izah ensured that Breccia's rocky exterior was neatly sanded down and polished to a marble finish. When his helmet is not worn, Breccia visibly bears gold-gilded engravings around his head in a ring, which in Ignan reads "servant of the living flame," an heirloom of his past life in service to the efreeti noble Izah.

For an Oread, Breccia is abnormally tall. He and his "formation" as he calls his brothers, were born of unusually large stock for oreads, which typically only reach a height of five feet. Izah speculated that there is stone-giant lineage somewhere in Breccia's family line, but never made Breccia aware of this in anything other than an off-handed statement.

Background
Born to a slave mother he never knew in distant Katapesh, Breccia -- born Jamnimar K'Gagun -- was one of seven oread children purchased as infants by an efreeti noble of the Aspis consortium known as Izah the Golden. To simplify their names and distance them from the heritage of their birth mother, Izah renamed all seven oread by the type of stone they resembled: Slate, Shale, Onyx, Breccia, Gneiss, Flint and Coal. For over a hundred years, Breccia was trained to be a peerless fighter, battling for the entertainment of others in Katapesi arenas under Izah's ownership. He and his brothers would fight as a unit, each of their skills designed to enhance one another's.

On his 130th year of service to Izah, Breccia and his siblings were each given specific assignments for the Aspis consortium that would divide them and send them off elsewhere in the world. BReccia was sent with a Katapesi slave ship across the Arcadian ocean to recover slaves from a Chelish colony in southern Arcadia, then return to Katapesh. After two long years of traveling and time overseas in the new world, Breccia's ship was crossing through the Inner Sea when it strayed too close to Andoran to avoid a storm. The ship was attacked by an Eagle Knight vessel and boarded. During the attack, Breccia watched as Izah's men used the Arcadians as human sheilds against the Andoran knights. It was not out of a sense of morality, but a sense of pragmatism -- they were damaging the cargo -- that Breccia turned on Izah's own men, cutting them down with ruthless efficiency. Unfortunately, he was unaware of the larger consequences of this action.

In the aftermath of the battle, Breccia was taken by the Eagle Knights and his status of liberation was explained to him. Unfamiliar with the alien notion of free will, Breccia followed the Eagle Knights back to Almas where he watched the Arcadian slaves be liberated. When presented with a blank slate of action and future, Breccia was unsure how to proceed. For a time, he stayed in Andoran and assisted the Eagle Knights in their day-to-day operations, defending villages from bandits and the like. Eventually, Breccia was offered to join the Eagle Knights for his time aiding them. Knowing full well that Izah would be coming for him eventually if word of his expolits reached Katapesh, Breccia declined the invitation. Instead, he was gifted a pair of bracers bearing the golden eagles of Andoran as reward for his service and aid in whatever may come for him in the future.

Deciding to leave Almas behind, Breccia boarded a ship bound for Absalom. There, he spent a year and a half exploring the myriad societies and peoples in the cosmopolitan city. When word of something as simple as a festival in Jalmeray caught Breccia's attention, his curiosity was piqued and the warrior sought passage on a vessel bound for the impossible kingdom...
