Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Thanks, DM Stylz!
I've never reported a completed session either.

Branthis continues to slash at the monstrosity.

Branthis is AC 20 with Shield spell

With his Shield spell up, Branthis is AC 20, so the second attack misses. He is hit twice, for 12 HP total damage, +8 healing from Shenendril, net -4 HP. DC 14 Fort Save 1 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 and Save 2 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 plus the DC 13 Will save 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 So, -2 STR, and not sick.

Assailed by poisonous strikes to his person, Branthis wrinkles his nose in further disgust at the venomous creature. Taking to the unpleasant work of reducing this thing to its component parts, Branthis continues to hack at what appears to be the thing's most sensitive organs.

Branthis steps up to the disgusting creature and takes a swing at it.

Branthis takes a few steps to get a good angle, then casts a fan-shaped blast of fire in the direction of the monstrosity, just catching it with the western edge of the flames. ”Foul creature.” he mutters, almost to himself.

I unexpectedly have some time today. It looks like Branthis only made a single move, unless it’s maybe difficult terrain. Does he have an action to throw an acid splash at the baddie? If so, 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage 1d3 ⇒ 1

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis don't need no stinkin' heroism spell. He's already a big damn hero!

I'm kidding! I'm a kidder as well as a hero! I'll take any buffs I can get.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis shrugs at the evil cult leader’s rhetoric, having heard it all before. His sword ripples with arcane energy for a moment as he takes a few steps along the waterline, then casts a quick spell with his free hand.

On my phone, so please move me 10’ SW on the map. Spend a point of Arcane Pool for +1 weapon, and cast shield.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis moves forward, sword drawn, until he has stepped in front of Shenendril. His mild confusion seems genuine. "What's that you say? Of course not! What a strange question to ask us." He resets his thoughts and eventually adds, "We have come to destroy your dreadful cult, as if that weren't entirely obvious. I'd also like to register my dismay at your thoroughly unpleasant, though not particularly surprising, choice for a secret lair."

Branthis nods in agreement with Ilarien's line of questioning. "Yes. And these self-proclaimed knights, do they have an occult leader with which we must concern ourselves?"

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

"Bertrag, I presume?" Branthis asks the dwarven monk.

We're in the NW chamber, right?

Branthis has no Diplomacy skills, but he has the tendency to fill lulls in the conversation with potentially ill-advised banter.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Noting the dark southern half of the room, Branthis casts light on a stone and tosses it into that area.

"I am also uninjured."

Branthis distributes the healing and antitoxin out to the group.

We can go random by the initiative order. Who doesn't ger a CMW potion: 1d5 ⇒ 5, no antitoxin: 1d5 ⇒ 5 Sad Trombone for Andrelis! Double whammy doesn't really seem fair, sorry.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Feeling the tide of the battle turning their way, Branthis pushes the advantage with an aggressive assault.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Looks like there's two tracks side-by-side, so we should be able to get two people down per rank? I'm assuming Zeta and Branthis will head down first, as per the earlier marching order discussion.

Branthis smiles when he hears the commotion. "Splendid!" He maneuvers onto the tracks and starts to move toward the chamber to the south.

It looks to be about a 60' move to get down to the next cave. If it's all difficult terrain, then Branthis only makes it half way by double moving this round.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

I must admit that I enjoy a good cart crash. I would prefer the wild card option.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

"We have several options here, Branthis opines, ticking them off on his fingers. One, Andrelis disables the trap and we ride down on the carts. I find this route undignified, but it might be effective by offering the elements of speed and surprise. Two, we work our way down the tracks on foot, bypassing the trapped carts, which is an unelegant solution, and could be slow and expose us to a more organized defense, but might be safer overall. Three, we send an empty cart down, which will crash, and perhaps distract the guards as we work our way down on foot. The wild card option, for certain."

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis is perplexed by the mechanical contraptions all around him. "Do these people not have stairs?" He looks around the party and gestures toward the elevator. "Can anyone make any sense of this machine? It is beyond me. And I am certainly not going to ride in a filthy cart as if I was a lump of ore. Trapped or not. Preposterous."

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis moves into the room, staying a few feet behind Andrelis. He wrinkles his nose in displeasure at the smell, causing his mustache to bristle comically. ”I say, what is this foul stench? Smells like the gates to the Seven Hells!”

He wiggles his fingers in the direction of the carts, intoning a few arcane words.

Cast Detect Magic in the direction of the carts. Also, we were offered two rings as we left the monastery. Branthis could use the ring of climbing if no one else wants to claim it. Anyone want the ring of jumping?

Branthis moves closer to the sign, squinting for a moment. "Complete gibberish." He dismisses it, turning to the entrance.

"So, how shall we proceed, tactically? I presume Ms. Zeta would choose to take the point position, and I propose that I either move alongside, or slightly behind, depending upon...hmm...geographical considerations, if you follow my meaning? Then perhaps...one of the ladies, etc?" He trails off, making a vague gesture with his hand.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis nods in agreement. "Quite right. On overland march such as this must be provisioned. Would the monastery provide sufficient rations or must we avail ourselves of the local provisioners?"

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

"I say, Doomsday Knights? Unacceptable. We will eradicate them like the vermin that they are. Of course." He then adds, "Ah, yes, but do you know where their base of operations might be located? Or must we wander about until they ambush us?"

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis is in good spirits, despite his recent unconsciousness.

"I must say, this doesn't resemble the other adventures I've been on with the Pathfinders. And if I'm being honest, I'm not entirely certain what's being decided tonight. Never mind, I suppose we'll find out tomorrow."

Branthis entertains himself with a quality meal and a few glasses of wine, if there's any to be had. After dinner he chats with whomever is about, whether monks or fellow adventurers.

He doesn't probe for any specific information, but he does engage and ask general gossipy questions of his fellow diners, seeking whatever are the current interesting topics of conversation.

Edit: I wouldn't say no to a few Aid Anothers from fellow diners.

But when Branthis awakens, she says "Stay down. Healing is not part of the rules, apparently."

Branthis splutters to consciousness and looks around for a moment before Shenendril's words sink in. "Hmm? What's that? What happened? Ah, yes. Quite right. The rules, of course."

He laces his fingers behind his head and rests back against the floor. "I do hope someone took advantage of the tactical distraction I provided. Eh?"

Sovereign Court

Male Human Magus 3 (AC:17, HP:20/24, F+5 R+4 W+4, Arcane Pool: 2/3, Concentrate: 1/1)

Branthis is still waiting for some sort of explanation of the order of combat when the group jumps the lone monk, smacking her about. He gapes in surprise until she pokes him hard in the chest, almost causing him to sprawl on his backside.

"So that's how it's to be then? Have at you!" A smile blooms under his moustache as he takes a dueling stance, waves a hand over his sword, then dances forward into melee with his retreating opponent. His sword ripples with magic for a moment as he moves and strikes.

For the first time, Branthis appears to be well-matched to the offered challenge, and he smiles confidently as he climbs easily up onto his chosen post. He has good balance and considers himself possessed of uncommon grit. "Now this is right up my lane, and with a pleasant view in the bargain. You've outdone yourself, Master Aeotsep, if I may say so!" He then settles in as best he can...

The Taldan stands up a bit straighter, his hand on the pommel of his sword. "Training of the body and the mind? Why, this is precisely what I have dedicated myself toward since I was a lad. I'm sure you will find this precaution entirely unnecessary, at least in my case, but never let it be said that Branthis Alp shrunk from a challenge such as the one you propose."

Of course, he didn't know the particulars of what was actually being proposed. He didn't come to this realization until later and was too embarrassed by that point to ask for details.

The magus dips a slight bow, accepting the kind offer of lunch. "Lead on, Dame Helg! I find travel to be hungry work, don't you agree? And to be entirely honest, villages are all much of a muchness to my mind."

Alp is genial enough company over lunch, but tends to bring conversations back around to himself, oversharing stories of his exploits over the years. The stories aren't exactly boring, well, actually they are pretty boring, and the magus has no diplomatic skills to speak of, but that's what he's attempting, anyway.

"Quite correct," Branthis adds as he marches along. "Of course, it's likely any bandits that espied us would be frightened away by our formidable appearance, or perhaps our reputations have preceded us. Bandits are a notoriously cowardly lot, you see." He waves away bandits, and banditry in general as a sort of minor annoyance to be endured. "No matter...Hall of Aspirants, you say? The Taldoran arrives at the office precisely at the time of appointment. He is of average height and build, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a bushy brown moustache.

His brow furrows slightly as he takes in the humble environment, but his speech is polite and measured, "Good morning to you, Venture-Captain Balentiir. I am Branthis Alp. I am most appreciative of the opportunity on offer here."

Alp is dressed in a mail shirt, brown riding breeches tucked into high leather boots, and a fine green cloak. A longsword is strapped on his left hip.

He uses a knuckle to smooth his moustache as he considers the task at hand. He makes the occasional grunt of acknowledgement as Balentiir speaks, offering no insight of his own, before finally asking, "I say, this Sky Key? How many pieces are there meant to be? And what sort of...arcane properties...is it thought to possess upon its complete assembly?"
