Sovereign Court

I've not been in Absolom long, constantly weaving around from Varisia, Mwangi, Cheliax, Galt, and the river kingdoms. Just about the time I settle into the rest home It's off to the wilds....makes me wonder if that house was economical or just a tricky way for the VC's to limit expenses and keep track of prospective adventurers.

"I'm not sure on all, there's an interesting assortment of siege forts outside of town. I spent a few hours in one of them some time ago. Tricky business glad we got out alive."

Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

"An odd name within Ulstalav.. but who am I to judge - Brandy Lion the Taldan Paladin....of the noble line of Ruum.

Sovereign Court

Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

The iron clad elf glances at the arriving Ifrit. "Welcome to Absolom. My name is Brandy. Are you one of our many planar visitors? Or perhaps a member of the Pathfinder Society."

Sovereign Court

A plate armored warrior walks into the bar, shaking his head at the Taldan elf. "Gods what a sorry state you're in." He waves in six retainers who gather the elven pathfinder and place him on a litter outside. The old elf cries, "Onward for Taldor and Baron Jaquo Dalsine!" then slumps unconscious in his chair.

The armored warrior removes his helm and sighs. Putting a few gold coins on the bar. "Sorry for the disturbance He's actually not a bad person... when sober."

The two elves appear related in appearance... almost identical.

Gm - So what will you do to aid in distracting the guards.

Me - I talk a pair of courtesans into something indiscreet.

Gm - um...diplomacy roll..?

Me Natural 20 + 10 = 30, Thirty

GM - um, damn that's exactly what you needed.

Me - Taldor for the win. (Yes Yes we're Sov court now - but I still love the Baron)

I can think of very few cases where the opposition will be native speakers of celestial.

Back in seasons 4 and 5, my tongues oracle loved having it as a private language with all the party aasimar.

Celestial is all my paladin oracle inquisitor speaks. He keeps asking the foes to surrender, but can't get a clear reaponse.

My pathfinder criminal pals go around doing criminal things, so I take a poll of the populace instead..

I salt my Akatas to taste and then roast then in a yellow curry.

I spent some time freeing slaves or whatnot with some poor addled Andoran fellows. I dare say they spend so much energy whacking away at chains with adamantine items, that s simple key could resolve. But rather than spoil their fun I drank some wine and clapped whenever they succeeded. I was the least I could do.

Sovereign Court

My tactical paladin grants a teamwork to all in 30'. I took lookout first (lv 3) then outflank (lv 9)

Are there any better for PFS use (I tend to think the weapon specific ones are not as useful in unknown groups.

Sovereign Court

Oh I forgot to note, while strolling through the bloodcove with some rather UN lawful fellows I took the time to poll the populace, the average came out as a score of 7/10, mostly oppressed, as gauged by the oppression scale. Science is fundememtal.

Sovereign Court

If I use two or more names, it will be confusing to my dueling schedule. Maybe in this manner I can make it more even, two duels at the same time... that can free up a lot of time. Yes, I can see a use for two names now.

Brandy Lion
Aka Brindy Lion
Aka Brundy Lion

For languages I am stuck in Celestial during combat for some reason. Otherwise I'm apt to follow some of what you speak. But all this sneaking around isn't my game, I'll tilt with our foes readily enough. If our cause is blessed by Iomede, surely we can bask in the daylight rather than skulk amongst the Darkive..I mean shadows.

I fear my own sire is more apt to chaos than law. Still I am his progeny though no fault of my own. My name yields me little more than a name, and requires of me more responsibility than a simple name should require.

Gloriana's Crusade to better Golarion, perhaps strategically sound, is rife with tactical flaws. Nobles who follow Stavian will not easily change their colors. Nobles who follow the Sovereign Court will invariably run afoul of their peers, easy to turn a noble cause into the scent of treason. And it is that scent which has led so many to Pharasma's care. I expect you may find similar but slightly different story within the halls of power in Cheliax. I doubt the Court will be welcome at all within the confines of Osirian, Andor, and Quadira.

Beyond the true powers, lies a viper's nest in Galt, Mwangi, Brevoy, etc. What nobility that may exist, is entirely localized... or in the case of Galt trapped within the black blades.

Righty in his way may have a point... the change we seek may take centuries rather than the few scores of years available to humans (and Brandy Lion smiles) and often less of Pathfinders.

Sovereign Court

Your story depends on which code of laws he follows. If he's a chelaxian (he wouldn't hide slaves). If he's andoran (I have guests, they're indisposed come back tomorrow).

Many of these corner queries will never come up. Unless the DM is out for you, or you push the limits. If the DM is out against any form of LG don't play one.

Pathfinder paladins (and any lawful character) needs to have a clear reason to be in the presence of criminals (Pathfinders) who's crimes ocurr far more often than the odd chelaxian/andoran slugfest over slavery & undead.

My current one: the Paladin chooses to redeem the pathfinders by showing them crime is not the only answer. He will not participate in crimes, but won't turn in society members either. There are still some scenarios were lawful wont work. (My LN cleric dropped out of two scenarios after hearing the intro)

The armored Azata bred aasimar sighs. "My father prefers the old ways." He hands his arms over to his valet (the blade is clearly marked by symbols of Iomede) and seems to relax.

I follow Iomede as well. Mercy can be a shield against the evil within. It is not a weakness, it is a single chance for redemption given to pull those wayward souls back from the abyss... and the pit.

What action do you propose Ivy? Speeches are not my method. Recently, I aided our Liberty minded friends in an investigation to thwart slavery. I played a part in our Mendevian crusade. I am a champion of weal, the Court seems a proper place to engage in honorable endeavors... moreso than the Crusade.

Sovereign Court

Those magical means as so defined cost far more than several years wages unless you are performing them yourself.

Sovereign Court

A mild mannered, and heavily armored pathfinder stops. His glowing blue eyes and pointed ears depict an Azata heritage. A Taldan crown adorns his baldric, while a phoenix rising from a burning tankard lies emblazoned on his shield.

I tend to help out my Pathfinder comrades although I don't share Liberty's Edge penchant to violence, mayhem, and murder. I had the pleasure of assisting a group of Andoran .. Edgers? .. recently and found their goals not far apart from my own.

In reference to your discussion
The cost of slave ownership is higher than paying wages, it also entails risk of loss wherein rent of skill yields no similar risk. The aquisition of slaves generally involves less than legal operations which are not in line with Absolom's national interests. Finally capital investment in slave ownership is by far higher than simple rent, whereas the training fee is the same. You may also find methods of motivation far easier and less burdensome (morally, spiritually, and economically). This logical approach may yield more support among the merchantile nature of this city rather than emotional pleas or wanton threats.

Sovereign Court

Why do you need to follow this nuance to an extreme?

You have to choose to put yourself beyond help. Having an affiliation and ordered hierarchy is a benefit to being a lawful character. Being both lawful and good gives you access to help. You can ignore it, refuse it, etc. You choose what you like.

Your DM should help you navigate this path and move forward, not impose distractions to the game.

Then get a priest from your church to issue either an indulgence or a command to adhere to the mission commander. There is no reason to over complicate this simple issue, you follow someone unless you are a king. Find a superior, if it is necessary you will get a work order. If it is - hey I want to xxx for no good reason, they will set you straight.

You are a pathfinder, you have a faction its not hard to find your co. Now I have been in missions where my guy says whoa, I am checking out of this one. Be sensible, its not hard to know the difference.

If you are a paladin with fealty to Ollystra and walk into Taldor you don't suddenly become a member of the Lion Blades. The laws you follow don't change from country to country. If you are worried about lawful activity, get a writ from your lord.
