Oh, my. That is a development.

I think we can eliminate the estimable Blakros family from our efforts across the Inner Sea. It appears they have managed to ship off one of their more... homely offspring upon an unsuspecting barbarian. Naturally, he is quite smitten with himself. I don't know whose facial expression was more rewarding, our loud barbarous Ulfen or the daughter when Mother Blakros announced the engagement.

Any hoo, has anyone else done anything of late? I am still studying the various clockwork pieces I brought with me from Jormurdon. Fascinating craftsmanship, these old relics have, absolutely stunning. I must incorporate the designs into my own works. I hear we did some work with a factory in Magnimar; Golemworks, was it not? I see a trip there in my future I do believe.

The Exchange

I have attended one Blackros wedding on behalf of the Pathfinders, but this sounds like it will be a rather different sort of affair.

Spoiler, muttered quietly:
I pity the fool Andoran who tries to object to this one!

I have largely been burdened with the mantle of governance of late. Almost immediately after my title was granted, the responsibilities became as numerous as the citizens of the province. I have had to become an expert on agriculture, engineering, even husbandry.

I am uncertain as to whether I should broach this topic, but I have noticed a lack of correspondence from our mutual friend Lady Morilla, and I cannot help but wonder, have I become too Taldan, too established, for her recent change in direction? Perhaps you, my friends, could elaborate? My numerous contributions to our cause are indisputable.

The white dressed Tiefling smiles, revealing incredibly white teeth.

I am down to 5..no 4 siblings after their last foray into the Fangwood. There should be signs preventing such accidents. Dreadful.

I also spent a pleasent evening on the outskirts of Quadira...translating infernal to Taldane for a member of Liberty's Edge. Such excitable people, running about knocking this or that over...very amusing.

Sorry I can't join in on the random little skirmishes, my hope is laid on something larger will be available for my specific skillset.

(A Black-feathered Tengu dressed in a decently respectable Kimono and a set of darkleaf Lamellar armor stands up. He has a set scabbards, one for a katana and one for a Wakazashi, but strangely only the Wakazashi scabbard houses a sword, the other is empty. His Taldane, though perfectly understandable, betrays his Tien upbringing.)

Ah, the Blackrose, I had heard of them when I was rightful heir to my country. I am sorry to hear that their standards have been lax as of late. Always sorry to see such a noble family brought low. However, I would humbly submit that the nobles of Alkenstar are on the rise and could be quite useful allies. Why, I just went on a . . . oh, what's the Taldane word . . . Safari? Yes, I went on a Safari with two just recently, and it was quite civilized for 'roughing it' in the wilds as it were. Might we wish to expand our influence there?

As for you (He turns his attention to Lady Gabrielle d'Apcher) I'm rather new to your society here, but from what I'm able to understand, as long as you are making inroads with the 'right' sort of people, you are doing what is requested of you. I have yet to fully grasp your Inner Sea pathfinder politics, but might you become some sort of . . . double-agent? Feeding information from the less-than deserving nobles to our hands?

"Why wouldst we eliminate the Blakros from our efforts in the Inner Sea? Because of an arranged Marriage? I was under the impression this was a common thing among human Noble Houses?"a heavily scared half orc says his clothing the finest in Varisian fashion.

(Taiicho sighs and takes on the condescending demeanor as if speaking to a small child.)

It is, a common practice, and for more than just humans, the problem is not the arranged marriage. It is the fact that the Blackros has dipped into marrying off to such . . . let us just say 'lowbrow' stock. Obviously, if they are desperate enough to marry off someone to an Ulfen barbarian they are either desperate for coin and willing to sell their dignity to get it, or that they cannot keep the appropriate leash on their daughters. Either way it shows a failing in the family that we simply cannot afford. We must be both dignified and unified, something the Blackros clearly has lost track of.

Honestly, I'm not even from this side of the world and I understand this. How do you expect to go far in this organization without grasping the basics?

Sovereign Court

"I think Sir that you fail to grasp that which Lady Morilla is trying to do as well as you fail to grasp upon the basic strengths and weaknesses of the Blakros Family and their History.Since their rise to prominence, Blakros women have married a variety of nobles from various lands including; Qadiran pashas, Vudran rajahs, and more than one Mwangi tribal chief."the half orc smiles at the Tengu "I mean if we were to go by petty labels of low brow surely we wouldn't allow a shifty tengu carrion eater or a blood tainted devil-kin into our midst now would we? The Jarls and Huscarl of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings have earned their rites of Nobility by blood and deed"

Sovereign Court

(The Tengu is visibly aghast at Volgnaer's comments)
Carrion-eater? Carrion?! I'll have you know I am a prince, sir. Not only that, but I am a prince blessed by the heavenly ancestors and allowed to speak with the spirits First in three generations in my home country. The only reason I am here, is because my no-good half brother usurped my throne and exiled me! My name and title carry weight, I am of superior stock.

And I trust that Mr. Azzar's information is accurate and that this Barbarian that the Blackros has married off is NOT a Jarl or other such title. In fact, I have it on good authority that he is a loud, brutish man who is touched in the head and possessing of no social graces. Called Lightning-mouth or somesuch nonsense.

And of course I realize how powerful the Blackros WERE, I've heard about them even in the Minkai archipelago, but if they are slipping and allowing such beastly gentlemen to taint their bloodlines, well, I don't think they are nearly as respectable or powerful as they once were.

Now GOOD DAY sir!

(The offended Tengu storms off, hoping that he has 'won' this argument.)

"You /are/ an Arrogant Sparrow" the man laughs.

I spent some time freeing slaves or whatnot with some poor addled Andoran fellows. I dare say they spend so much energy whacking away at chains with adamantine items, that s simple key could resolve. But rather than spoil their fun I drank some wine and clapped whenever they succeeded. I was the least I could do.

"I do find such folks to be quite droll myself, this kind of activity just leads to more work for me outside of my duties as a pathfinder. Work involving the return of property wrongfully released..."

Lady Jasmine is wearing obvious Order of the Chain Hellknight plate.

As to what that bird was discussing, sometimes it is best to use a less then ideal tool, an unwanted daughter, for a less than ideal match, to honor favors freely given. When one has an abundance of a resource, sometimes it becomes necessary to use this resource in less than ideal ways."

Sovereign Court

The Lady takes on a dismissive tone. "It is also my understanding that the self-absorbed suitor will likely forget about whatever this is within a fortnight. Then the obligation will be released, for the good of all, it appears."

Sovereign Court

A soft spoken man in half plate watched the discourse with a quizzical look on his face as he listened to those there discuss the Blackros issue. He wore a simple campaign medal on his tabard, the mark of a survivor of the siege of the Diamond City, and a simple silver ring bearing an onyx rose on it's surface.

"I thought this new...endeavor was to build up alliances." He said with the calm accent of someone more used the commoner's seats in the Opera House's noble balconies. "More about building common ground and less.. measuring of ones 'swords'." His tone was clear that he was prone to more 'salty' language and that etiquette of the courtly type was only recently learned.

"The Blackros have connections, skilled people." He said plainly. "We, the whole society, have gotten a great deal out of their connections. Access to that damnable museum aside," He rolled the ring as he considered things.

"Lasty.. I'd rather those of you sneering down your nose at them understand one thing." He stood up and poured himself a drink. "No one tells the old Lady Blackros what she can or can't allow. She plays the long game, and if she's allowing the Ulfen into her family..reluctantly as she might publicly appear, it's for some gain to the family. I am still trying to figure why she'd accept my dowry of Hawk's Fall, I mean the estate is only about five acres, the Mansion has literally fallen into the sea..but she approved my engagement to her niece."
