Turning to Naught, Bolo says "I cannot understand the dark speech, but I am not an idiot, you know. You should be happy I am no cleric of Iomedae, in that case I would have to sever that little sharp tongue of yours. "...and the lady here must not be very happy with all this talking ugly of yours..." he adds, pointing his chin to Ysmeralda.

I am having Bolo obey your combat requests. @Cellawyn Mirelinza tosses you a heavy mace that has been hanging from her side, claiming that the spiders' poison has weakened her too much for the weapon to be effective in her hands. Meanwhile, Bolo, who is back on his feet by the time of your request, closes his eyes, breathes heavily, and holds onto his medallion once more. You notice everyone feel a bit less uncomfortable in this place. Channel energy remaining: 2/6 All heal: Heal: 1d6 ⇒ 1 "I can proceed, but I am not sure I can resort to much more of Pharasma's favor. Bolo, Will (DC 14): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Channel energy, remaining: 4/6 Bolo boldly walks right into the two corpses' midst, confident that he will repeat his feat of power, and he cries out loud extending his arms and his quarterstaff -- but nothing happens. Desperate that his trick did not work, and utterly scared to confront the corpses in meelee, he grabs onto his Pharasma medallion, at which point a blue fire bursts from him across the cages and dissipates at a distance. Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 The strike affects only one of the corpses nearby, and some of the others that are trapped in the cages, which causes them to attempt to break free even harder. Alas, the blue fire is not strong enough to vanquish any of them. GM crunch: Skeleton U, Will (DC 13): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Bolo mumbles a recitation cast guidance on self, approaches Aliseya, grabs her by the hair and (gently, but firmly) slaps her face, "C'mon, wake up." He pulls a small scented box from a pouch and runs it under her nose as well. Heal: 1d20 + 1 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 1 + 9 = 23 His method is not the gentlest to have the gypsy back on her feet, but it certainly works. "Are we going back in or not? Since I'm here I wanna find out who's the clown behind this trickery."

"What we saw there..." Bolo responds with a cocked look towards Ysmeralda remarks "must be an illusion or somethin'; it must be some magic controllin' the doors and the objects." He tries to explain: "Ya know too well that the things about the Tyrant are not literal;" he chuckles. "That's the way they used to describe things back in the day, but they didn' mean that. Fine, I'm sure at some point or another someone animated a corpse or whatever, but it could not stay that way for more than a few hours. Have ya ever seen one? Sure not. Have ya ever heard about con men throwin' illusions at people to make money? Way more often, lady. Way. More. Often." "I ain' saying what we went through wasn' dangerous, but this is what law enforcers are trained for; we train to heal the sick, bring the young ones safely into this world, make sure the dead rest in peace, and that the loved ones who outlive them can move on with their lives!" "Again, we've had prophets, yes, and great, fearless warriors, but those were few and the time for those things's gone." @Ysmeralda "Like you knew what was coming when you prayed for Shelyn to show ya the evils in this place..." he mumbles, after a moment of silence. Quickly turning to Cellawyn, Bolo adds. "I will have to report to Fr. Grimburrow on what's goin' on here. The hell I'm letting you crazy ladies go in there alone again, maybe we can find out why someone is try to scare us off." Recalling Naught's general opinion about him and his peers, Bolo turns to her, saying half-jokingly "Maybe we can find some other lost church property here."

Attempting to hide a frown in tight, long lips, Bolo tries to overlook the destructive criticism and focus on the task at hand "If you do see evil, Miss Ysmeralda, then we should all proceed with caution. Yet perhaps best of all would be to quarantine this place and leave it alone as long as the evil is contained within." "You have not seen anything of the like outside, have you?" he asks to Ysmeralda and Mirelinza.

"Well, yes," says Bolo awkwardly "but no one could do it if they spent the whole day tending to the sick... By this time of the day there isn't much I can do that anyone else can't -- well, we ought to be quiet now;" he says in an educational tone "lady needs to concentrate."

After a few moments at the chapel, Bolo comes back and whispers to the group "What a terrible state is the chapel in! Full of dust, mold, and soot; absolutely abandoned... From what I have seen, it was lucky enough to survive the fire, but it has been completely pillaged... What a pity..." Turning to Cellawyn, "Regardless, this prison seems still enough, as I suspected. Are you ready to leave, or do you want to show me any other 'oddities' besides wild animals' dwellings?" Bolo gazes into the sky -- clearly, you notice that he is wondering about the sunset."Maybe we will run into the ghost warden's wife, and we can invite her for some ale," he says, forcing himself to laugh. You see he is somewhat nervous, and you deduce the reason is his concerns about the structural safety of the prison building.

Bolo turns to the very thin, old man. Fr. Grimburrow, who again stops, impatient, "Father, the items are in the girl's bag," he says indicating Naught "I saw no harm in letting her bring them here, and I deemed insisting on me taking them would create unnecessary conflict with the others. You see how adamant they are about keeping the objects." The old man in black silently nods, and continues to walk alone, northbound.

"We'll probably send them to Lepidstadt or Caliphas, where a curator will decide what to do with them, but we'll receive an advance fund for the find, which should help us get by for longer. Maybe they'll even send us s'more acolytes, or another priest. Why do you think we're asking the Miss here for thirty measures for the prayer she requires, if not to ensure the well-being of the people? Of course, in her case the compromise's far clearer than with these items, since we won't be able to irrigate the land for the day."

"Unfortunately I will not intervene about the items on your favor. I am bound by oath to defend the interests of the Church and the flock, which right now involve us keeping these objects," says Bolo collecting the items, putting them in the sackcloth bag, and handing it over for Naught to store the ones in her possession. "You will have to convince Fr. Grimburrow and Evnar, and if it comes to the law, you will have to take it up to the Council. I would rather we make haste to Ravengro, because I have much to do today."

Regarding Harrowstone "Look," says Bolo, inclined to accept the ladies' proposal, "Maybe we should take a look at Harrowstone, but we, the acolytes, are busy the whole day tending the Ravengro flock. I will talk to Fr. Grimburrow, and see if I can get a leave in the late afternoon, where most of our work is already done, ok?" "Harrowstone... That's where they say the professor suffered an accident and died. No wonder: no one has been up there for decades after the fire destroyed most of it, so the place must be in ruins." "If Prof. Lorrimor was the one who broke into this crypt, why did he need his objects? And what was his business in Harrowstone? Surely, if it was anything serious he would have come to us, the Church of Pharasma!" You may summarize that you share your findings rather then spelling them out as a line, if you want. "I just hope we are not being dragged into some delusion the professor had..." Regarding the items Hunched, Bolo starts to explain certain things to you. Mirelinza and Zelda are still uncomfortable by the idea that the ceiling might collapse over her head at any moment. As Bolo speaks, he moves his arms around, which causes the light on his quarterstaff to flicker and the shadows to dance on the walls. "These crypts are property of the Church of Pharasma even when the families have them under concession as a resting place for their departed -- this allows us to safeguard the deceased no matter what happens to the living ones of the family, for example, if they contract too many debts. Since it seems as though this crypt has never been used, the records in the Temple must be wrong. But the fact that no one has ever been buried in this crypt rules out that any heirloom or other personal property has been left here with permission. Unless you can prove that these objects belonged to someone else specific, they are presumed to be property of the Church of Pharasma. Even if you can prove it, and get these items for yourselves... are you willing to deprive the people of Ravengro of healing and food for the sake of what you think is important?" You should see that if Bolo is spilling the beans about how things work, he is actually helping you, even though he will not relinquish the items. Then Bolo just waves his hands "You know, I refuse to argue any more about these items, it's just pointless to do it here. I have seen what I wanted; if you are done looking around, I think we should wrap it up and go." "But I will take the items to the Temple." GM Crunch: [ooc]Bolo is currently friendly, and will go to Harrowstone with the group ("Give dangerous aid"). |
