Yes I;ve been peeking since our thread seems to be on hold while waiting for you guys to catch up time-wise,but just to say that This: "...or I will personally hold her cloak while she kicks your ass to Rovagug's hole." may just be one of the Best lines Ever. Thanks Thom, still chucking over that one ; )
Your welcome. It's lucky you're playing with me for the first time. I'm told it's not as good the seventh or eighth time around.

The first time?? Oh, how soon they forget!

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Wow, can't believe it's been TWO YEARS since this game ended!

Just found out Wrath was back on the boards so thought I'd post here just to see if any of the old Fall of Nations gang was still around?

If so, Happy 2012 to ya all!

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

@ Wrath:

Hey Wrath! Didn't know you were back on the Boards! Welcome back! (guess you've been back for a while though eh?

So of course the Big Question, any plans to restart Fall of Nations? That was still one of my favourite games on here. If not, I understand (kinda ; ) but it would be an awesome Holiday gift if Yes! lol

Either way, wish ya all the best in the New Year

Cheers!

Battle on the Beach

Bo-Dan begins to accompany Captain Venn as he moves forward to confront the amphibious lizard-like humanoids but with a curt gesture he instructs her not to follow. With a look of concern on her face, the half-elf nevertheless obeys.

Initiative:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
As the negotiations obviously fail and the creatures attack, the monk, primed and ready for just such treachery, blazes into action launching into a flying snap-kick at the head of one of the creatures attacking the Captain.
Attack & Damage:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15, 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Very fair compromise Wrath, gracias : )

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-Dan wouldn't have let the Captain approach them all on his own unless he stopped her. If you say that's where she is, that's fine, but it wouldn't have been her natural reaction to let him put himself into further danger all by himself. Just saying : )

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

As the woman named Cynthia gives her brusque report on the happenings in the village the duty conscious monk opens her mouth to take the woman to task for leaving without even first checking if there were other survivors or not. But as the leather clad woman turns and walks away without before giving anyone a chance to reply, Bo-Dan's mouth snaps shut with an audible click.

Deciding not to pursue her or the matter at present, Bo-Dan merely thinks to herself 'There is something about that woman that I do not trust...'

The beach

Christoff looks up at the beautiful young half elf and becomes serious all of a sudden. "Ah yes, you mean Paera. I had noticed she was spending more time with the noble girl. There is something you ought to know about Emallion my dear. They.."

His conversation is cut short by the sound of shouting and screaming from further down teh beach...

...Captain Venn moves through the crowd, gently tapping Bo Dan and the now armed Pietro on the arm as he goes, He alos nods to Jaekal and Cynthia, indicating they should follow him as well.

When they are all close, he whispers "This is going to be trouble. They come at neither the place nor time we agreed...

Once again cut off from making any kind of reply or further question, this time to Christoff, Bo-Dan has trouble concentrating for a moment on Captain Venn's words as in her mind keeps echoing 'I should know What about Emallion?!'

But finally cluing in to the seriousness of the situation the half-elf puts all personal issues aside for the moment and focuses all her attention on the Captain and the lizard creatures. Moving to the right of the Captain Bo-Dan stands in a relaxed but ready pose, trying to look as intimidating as possible and prepared to leap into action at a moments notice.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Perception:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 +2 for sight & sound
Intimidate:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Yikes. Well hopefully Jaekal & Cynthia have a better time looking intimidating! Course we could always hire some soaking wet kittens to help out...

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Oops, missed that, sorry.

Bo-Dan does not realize she is staring at the new woman to join them until her friend, the ships Gnome, startles her somewhat as he speaks, suddenly at her side.

A trifle embarrassed, the Half-elf thinks for a moment of saying nothing, but as she realizes the very next moment that she truly does desire some company she replies
"Ah, Chistoff, good it is to see you my friend! I had not known if you would be leaving your ship or not. And yes, you are correct; there is...something about that woman there, the beautiful one in the leathers, yes her, which...I don't know...disturbs and confuses me somehow. But I cannot say exactly what it is."

Her face taking on a pallor of sadness then she finishes with "But perhaps it is just...other matters which are confusing my perceptions."

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-Dan is here, but as it seems the women have gone their separate ways in sadness, looked like that scene was over to me.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

As Vik and Khraisi make as scene with their passionate farewell, Bo-Dan was suddenly reminded that, in her heartache over Paera, she had forgotten to speak to the Ulfen about the girl. Feeling somewhat guilty now, the young monk makes her way over to Khsimia, laying her hand on the concerned and disapproving mother's arm.

"Before you judge her too harshly Khsimia, please remember that you were once her age too, yes?" Waiting briefly for the woman's reaction, Bo-Dan continues. "As well, remember too that she has been through much these past few weeks, not the least of which being the loss of her father and her home. Vik is powerful and brave warrior and some of Khrasi's attraction to him may be a sense of safety he gives her. Finally, in the time I have come to know the Ulfen, although we may not see eye to eye on all matters, I believe him to be an honourable man, in his own manner, and I am sure we would not willfully harm your daughter in any way."

Sighing, Bo-Dan looks off in the distance as she finishes "We are, all of us, living day by day for the moment Khsimia, and all of us know that any day could be our last. So I beg you, do not chastise your daughter too harshly for her choice to drink the most of life while she can, for she may not ever have another chance."

As if suddenly realizing that she may allowed her own melancholy to overtake her again and gone too far, Bo-Dan squeezes Khsimia strongly, as she looks the woman in the eyes saying "Ah, I must beg your forgiveness Khsimia, I am sorry. My heart has been heavy of late and it was not my intention to give the impression of know hope. As I have sworn to you before, I swear to you now, with the last breath within me if necessary I shall do everything in my power to ensure that you and your daughters all have the chance to Love and Laugh and Live again Khsimia..."

Letting go of the woman's arm, Bo-Dan begins to move away, her last words barely as whisper as she continues "...even if you are the only ones who ever shall do so again..."

Only you determine the course the river of your life takes Pietro, and when you believe in yourself, that river shall lead you to wondrous places."

Smiling once again at the earnest young man's reaction to her attempt at an encouraging speech, the half-elf merely nods her head to him in reply.

Pietro smiles broadly but looks a little hang-dog too at Bo-dan's last clause. "I -- I hope so. I've never really been anywhere, except this voyage."

After her nod though the monk cannot help but add to clarify
"I did not mean merely wondrous destinations Pietro; the most important, and the most rewarding, journeys we can make are those we take within. Stay true to yourself brave soul and find wondrous things, and places, inside yourself."

Wrath
[spoiler]Sounds good. And...intriguing ;-)

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-Dan smiles kindly at the young man's awkward acknowledgement of her praise. When he comes over to her to introduce himself her smile widens in genuine fondness for she can sense right away that this is a good and honest young man, although perhaps his youth still fuels his lack of confidence.

Looking directly into his eyes she says with authority
"Do not ever be afraid or ashamed to speak what is in your heart young Pietro, most especially when it is a heart as good and pure as I know you to possess. If there is one thing that the hatred and scorn one of my kind receives throughout their life has taught me, it is to always stand tall and proud in who and what you are, no matter the opinions of others. Only you determine the course the river of your life takes Pietro, and when you believe in yourself, that river shall lead you to wondrous places."

Smiling once again at the earnest young man's reaction to her attempt at an encouraging speech, the half-elf merely nods her head to him in reply.

Her smile falters and then fades away completely though as the other woman, Cynthia, joins their small group. Although there is no denying her beauty, something about the woman rubs the monk the wrong way and so Bo-Dan finds a warring of emotions in herself in the presence of the leather clad human. Not wanting to start off on bad terms with someone upon whom her life may very well depend in the near future Bo-Dan bows her head slightly as she replies in a monotone voice
"Greetings to you, Cynthia. Perhaps, at your convenience, you might consider sitting down with Pietro and I and filling us in on the details of your village and the fate which befell it? Anything you can share with us which may aid us in our quest would be welcome."

Wrath

Spoiler:

Wrath, how do you want to handle Paera's 're-introduction' to the group? Do you want to write it? Or do you just want to introduce her and I can write it from Bo-dan's point of view? Also, how much interaction will she be having as an NPC in things? I honestly thought she was out of the story for good, but I'm happy to have her back in. So however you want to roll with it, just let me know.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

"The young man has a point Captain." Turning slightly so as to obviously be addressing both the Captain and the new leader of the Orcs Bo-Dan continues "How far apart would the village be from where the elder, Gods rest his soul, would have us go? Would it not be possible to first lead a team to the village and once we assure it is safe, allow the others to check for survivors and gather supplies while we head towards the source of Evil?"

Although it seems clear she is still not quite herself, the young half-elf is making a noticeable effort to move on past her sadness. As she finishes speaking, she turns an encouraging and approving gaze on the young man, who's name she is still uncertain of, impressed with his wise suggestion.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Wrath

Spoiler:

I Like it! Lets do it. Depression can be very difficult to shake off and I like the reality and Rp possibilities the mechanic represents. But what do you think the DC should be? But anyway, Good thinking boss, thanks. Cheers! ;-)

Bo-dan thanks the young girl who had come to summon her from her solitude and hurries to join the Captain and the others, as she sees that Orc party begin to approach. As she reaches the group, she notices the newcomers, and her eyes widen unconsciously for a moment at the...strange yet somehow exciting look of the leather clad female. But her thoughts do not run in that direction at all at present and looking with concern towards the obviously deathly ill shaman, she concentrates to focus past her sadness upon the matter at hand.
Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Still needing time to herself, Bo-Dan observes the increased smoke and hears the tribal dance but chooses to remain on her rock by herself. As the slaughter begins, she turns away from it, gazing out into the Night sea and sky....for some reason, her thoughts drift to the interesting little Gnome she had shared a similar night sky with several days ago.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

As she considers the problem of how to preserve the meat for as long as possible, suddenly comes to Bo-Dan's mind a memory of her dear departed Paera describing a process she had once seen of people taking the very salt from the water itself by placing it in shallow pans and allowing the water to dry off, leaving the salt behind. As the monk knew that salt could be used to preserve meat and some others foods, she shared this information with the captain and her comrades.

Yet as the thought of her Ves-tascha caused her wounds to sunder anew, Bo-dan immediately excused herself after sharing what she had heard and moved away by herself to sit upon some great rocks upon a cliff face. There she simply sat and stared off into the ocean, staying well past the setting of the Sun.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

That's pretty much exactly what I was going to write about Bo-Dan Wrath, so thanks! :) You nailed her mood, spirit and determination to carry on despite her loss perfectly.

Something in her mood prompting her to take the riskiest position, Bo-dan grabs something she can beat on that will make a noise (a metal shield, wood plate, even two big (hollow preferably) sticks if there's nothing else) and quickly runs towards the back of the back. There, although she has no experience whatsoever with creatures of this type, she understands where the Halfling hunter intends to lead them and the monk does her best to help in this task, making noises to drive the beasts away from any unwanted areas and guide them along the path they need to go. She also uses her significant agility and monk training to help get get into the best positions possible.
Intimidate 1, 2 & 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

If nothing else, the forlorn Half-elf is glad of the activity to help get her mind off the almost overwhelming pain pulsing out from the hole in her chest where her heart used to beat.

Crap! What horrible rolls on the intimidate! A little help? : P

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Thanks Wrath and Ragadolf. I have to admit, I myself got a wee bit choked up as our poor heartbroken half-elf related her tale through me.

Other than that, like Vic said, I'm just enjoying All the great writing going on!

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

A part of her had sensed it coming, but, not wanting to even consider such an unthinkable tragedy, she had pushed it to the very back of her mind. Finally though, the moment had come. Always had Bo-dan known of her heart friend's great desire to fly as the birds in the sky. The moment the injured Gryphon and it's Royal Rider had fallen onto the ship, a small quiet voice in Bo-Dan had warned of this moment
'You shall lose her...' it had said. Now, it seemed, the prophecy was coming true.

As Paera's eyes burned into hers with the intensity of her emotion, Bo-Dan said nothing in return. She knew this moment was not easy for her Vestach; for as hard as it was on Bo-dan for her Love to leave, it was just as difficult for her heart-mate to do the leaving. Yet the love they shared was true, and thus it was also free, therefore never for even a moment did it enter the young monk's mind to try and stop Paera from what she felt she must do.

As their fingers entwine for what may well be the last time, as their lips touch once again in that perfect sweet moment, Bo-dan sends all her love and gratitude through the connection, and feels the same in return. The two allow their very souls to communicate, reveling in one another's light and glory once more, and truly it is an eternal moment of perfection that seems to last forever.

Yet, alas, it cannot, at least not in this time and place. And so the moment ends as the two lovers disconnect. As Paera stands and begins to back away, the two do not say good-bye. Instead, as had always been their custom, they use the greeting they had learned was used by their elvish kin. Too heartbroken for speech, they instead merely mouth the words each knows the other will say. Their eyes strive for one last joining as their lips form the words "Until next."

In her heart of hearts though, Bo-Dan knows there will never come such a time, and as the forlorn cry of a jungle creature wafts morosely through the night, it is only a pale echo of the pain that reverberates in the half-elf's empty chest.

Unnoticted by all, a single tear rolls down the pretty young monk's face. Quivering on the edge of her chin for a brief momment, it finally falls into the fire, evapourating instantly with a puff and silent hiss, never to exist again.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-dan laughs at the girls continued enthusiasm yet gives her only general answers for the moment.

The monk senses Paera's distance, yet she does not make to much of it at present. They were both tired from their long day, and as well, Bo-dan knew that her lover was sometimes prone to spells of restlessness or discontent, as was she herself. Bo-dan knew that if it was something important, Paera would discuss it with her later.

As they reach the small area claimed by Khsimia and her girls, Bo-dan smiles again, happy to see the good-hearted and hard-working woman. The half-elf nods easily at the request to help and pitches in whole heartedly with whatever tasks need doing.

As Khsimia begins to vent her frustration on the innocent Ellisal, Bo-dan subtly moves in front of her, forcing the large woman to be facing her instead. Deciding to leave the matter of the wayward Khrasi to the side for the moment, Bo-dan attempts to distract the wild girl's mother by beginning to relate the take of the party's adventure in the jungle with the orcs, making sure to involve Khsimia in the story by asking her opinion on several matters.

As well, the monk makes sure to include the bittersweet tale of the reunion of the Orc mothers and their children and the one poor mother who would never see her dear child smile again. Perhaps the reminder that there were always those who were suffering more would recall to Khsmima that there were worse fates that could befall her daughter then that of simply acting out as a young woman (although granted a particularly wild and wanton one)

I suddenly got the feeling that Cynthia and Khrasi will be getting along quite well, lol. Or, then again, maybe not...two cats in the same territory and all that ;-)

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-dan and Paera shared a knowing look with each other after watching Khrasi's performance. A mix of emotions surged through the young monk-surprise, anger, frustration, impatience and, even though she didn't really like to admit it to herself, a small bit of humour and pride at the girls bravado as well. But still, if she only barely knew the girl and was already feeling such a powerful and draining mix of emotions, she could only imagine how Khraisi's poor mother must be feeling. Most definitely, something would have to be said and/or done. Although this certainly had not been the kind of help Bo-dan had had in mind, an oath was an oath and the half-elf would die before she would go back on. 'It may be best to speak to the Ulfen first" Bo-dan mused to herself 'But I shall have to step softly as I know of his temper now and he and I have not exactly become boon companions as of yet.'

Sighing quietly though, Bo-dan put the matter aside for now and, forcing a smile onto her tired face, turned to face the delightful Eliisal, laughing as she answers the young and enthusiastic girl "My dear Eliisal! If any of us had but a tenth of your energy, why, we should have run all the way there and back and returned half a day ago! But come child, lead us to your mother and show us what improvements have been made in the camp. Pae and I are tired and hungry and need to rest our feet and feed our bellies. While we sit and dine, I promise you we shall answer all your questions and tell you all about our journey.

The excited youngster jumps and squeals in excitement to have dinning at her tent two of the "Heroes of the Crossing" as some of the refugees were referring to the journey across the sea and those who had several times now protected them on it. Grabbing Bo-Dan's hand, she leads the monk as quick as she can to her mother's tent. Shrugging their shoulders with a silly grin at each other, Bo-dan and Paera allow themselves to be dragged along.

On route, the two boys Paera had earlier befriend dart through the crowd at her like hunting barracuda, regaling the rogue with very similar questions and enthusiasm as Eliisal had done. Ruffling their hair with her free hand, Paera invites the boys along and they trial excitedly after her.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-dan is interested in the village and would like to talk to some of the women, but she also understands this to be a time of great emotional upheaval for the entire village and so she limits herself to gentle smiles, showing loving warmth and compassion to all she meets eyes with.

The young half-elf holds on tightly to the hand of her lover Paera, fully empathizing with those of the village who have lost loved one of their own as she tries not to imagine the horror or losing Pae. She wants to take the beautiful rogue in her arms but her natural reticence and the awareness that many in the village already find the fact that her and Pae are warriors strange enough, she contents herself with the knowledge that the two of them would have some alone time later on this night.

When the party is ready, she and Paera make their way back to the ship with the rest.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-dan stays to watch Milhar's magical examination. It is obvious from the Monk's rapt expression that she is trying to take in every facet on how the man is able to summon and sense magical energies.

When he is done, she quires him on what he may have found and then accompanies him and anyone else who stayed back to the village.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-dan smiles at the joy of the warrior and the children and her hand seems to find and join Paera's of it's own accord.

After a while though, curious as to what the bugbear was about, if it had brought anything from the empire with it, orders or items and the like. Or as well if it had stolen anything from the ship, so she stays behind to do a through search of the area. She asks her lover to remain behind and search with her, knowing Pae to have s sharp eye and good sense of the places people tend to hide things.Taking a 10 or 20 or whatever. Bonus is +8, +2 for sight & sound

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-dan ignores the fleeing Orcs, figuring that the elder and his warriors would be able to track them down later should they feel it warranted. Immediately she turns to the children, helping to untie them and doing her best to soothe and calm calm (1d20+1=2) them. Ack! ok so all the children run screaming and wailing their hearts out. :| Technically my first roll was a 15, but I had accidentally rolled it 5 times so I re-rolled. Ah well.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Seeing Algret badly injured and the big orc dazed, Bodan leaps forward and tries to land a quick snap kick (1d20+7=19, 1d6+4=8) up into the bottom of the big orc's chin.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Bo-Dan simply speaks for the moment, addressing her words specifically to the guards "You so-called leader is finished, his so-called reward as dead as this evil creature which promised it. You have one last chance to redeem yourselves in the eyes of your people. You know what you must do."

She steps in front of the children though, so any attack meant for them would have to first go through her. She readies herself to defend the children and herself should the orcs attack them.

Bo-dan goes on Total Defense for this round, so +4 to AC=21. She doesn't have any ranks in Diplomacy and Invis Castle is down but if you need a roll, please go ahead. Her mod would be +1. PS, loved Bo-Dan's coup-de-grace, perfect! lol

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

As she prepares to deliver the final death blow to the bug-bear, Bo-dan looks up to her allies as she says "But remember all, these orcs were not themselves, they were under the influence of the bugbear. They are not our enemies, so let us try to avoid harming them if possible. It may help to let them see as quickly as possible that all the children are alright."

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Go Go good initiative (1d20+4=10)! Awwww

The moment Bo-Dan sees the scene before her, she howls in rage and heartbreak and charges the bug-bear, leaping into the air with a loud "Ki-yaa!" as she tries to land a lethal kick (+2 for charge) (1d20+7=15, 1d6+4=7) to it's head.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Sprinting into a run at the sound of the child's scream Bo-Dan shouts to her companions "We must hurry! Not only for the danger ahead but there be danger behind us as well!"

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

As the group begins to get ready to move on out again, Bo-dan catches something out of the corner of her eye and quickly turns as she peers closely (1d20+8=26) at it.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

if Vic is still significantly injured (5hp or more), Bo-Dan will use another charge from her medallion on him for this much healing (1d8+1=7)

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

The vines last attack on Bo-dan should have put her at -9.A Close one! Algret's first heal should have brought her to -3 and this last one to +3. If anyone sees my math as off let me know and I'll re-post.

Floating in a place that is no-place, her beingness in a form that is no-form, Bo-Dan is peaceful and content. Her joy is multiplied exponentially as a form that hearkens from her very earliest memory begins to draw nearer to her, or perhaps she draws nearer to it. There is no way to discern movement in this no-place of no time or space.

The form of a beautiful human woman begins to grow clearer and as it opens it's arms in a wide embrace Bo-Dan's joy is like the Sun and she strives to move more rapidly towards this being of her dreams vaguest memories.

Suddenly though, there is a violent lurch and Bo-Dan is jerked backwards from the being she so desperately desires to reach and she screams in frustration, trying to move with all her will closer again. Yet her efforts are of no avail as, with another massive lurch she is drawn infinitely farther away from the being who gave her birth and she screams "NO! MOTH..."

"...ER!" as the Dwarven Priestess' powerful healing energies bring the young monk back into the world of the living Bo-Dan sits bolt upright, her face a picture of pain and loss and the last syllable of some scream on her lips. For a moment she has the look of one desperately trying to cling onto the last ephemeral wisps of some quickly fading dream.

Her eyes are then drawn though to the desperate, haunted gaze of the being who loves her more than any other in this land of the living. Once Paera realizes that her 'Vas-tascha' is indeed alive and well the tears she had been holding burst forth and she sinks to her knees enveloping Bo-Dan in her embrace as she sobs "Oh Bo! Bo! I thought you were lost to me! Don't ever do that to me again or I swear I'll...Just please don't ever leave me again."

Her dream-vision now completely gone except for a subtle lingering feeling of loss, Bo-Dan returns Pae's embrace with equal vigor as tears fill her eyes as well as she mumbles into her lovers hair "I won't Pae, I won't. I'm so sorry to scare you! Please forgive me!" The rest of their words are too quiet to hear and perhaps are best for their ears alone regardless.

Mere moments later though, as the two experienced young women are very aware of their present circumstance and urgent mission, they cut short their tearful reunion and stand together, still holding hands but ready for whatever fate may next throw at them. Both woman turn their grateful eyes to Algret and no words are needed to express their gratitude.

I really hope you don't mind my temporary use of Paera as well Val! Hurry back, we miss ya. : )

*Wrath*

Spoiler:

If we are out of rounds, Bo-Dan will use some charges from her amulet to heal herself some more.
clw1 (1d8+1=3)
clw2 (1d8+1=2)
clw3 (1d8+1=6)
This should put her at 14hp and leave 13 charges on the amulet. Sound about right to you?
Also, this story reminded me of something. Just in case in wasn't clear from her background, Bo-Dan is only sure that her mother is dead. She has assumed her whole life that her father must be as well since he never tried to find her so as far as she is concerned, he is. She never doubts this. But the truth is, she has no way of knowing for sure. Just thought I'd make that clear. You know, just in case. ;-)

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

I very much like your GMing and writing style Wrath, it is chock full or tension, drama and realism. No worries or complaints whatsoever on my part. The fact that you have just been making all of this up yourself just makes it even more impressive.

I'm not sure I agree with or even understand FW's opinion that we shouldn't have charged the plant. As it was a surprise attack and none of us are high enough level yet to have any significant ranged or magic attacks, I'm not sure how much choice we had.

I realize that Bo-dan will only have a few hp before Algret's healing kicks in, but I agree with the others that Death is an integral part of the game. As much as I like Bo-dan and wouldn't want to loose her, I have to play her the way I see her and she would not hesitate to risk or even give her own life if she felt it would help save her allies (and of course especially Paera).

So, in short, Bo's actions remain the same. I'm certainly not planning on or hoping that she won't survive this, but if she happens not too, I would very much like to continue in the game however I can.

And, after all,

Perhaps today is a good day to die!

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

DM & Algret

Spoiler:

Thanks for the Heal Algret! But I hope it didn't also heal away the damage Bo-Dan did to the plant. Did it Wrath? Also, you didn't mention if Bo-Dan had actually seemed to injure the plant at all. The answer might affect her next actions.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Initiative (1d20+4=17)

Her readiness for danger just barely allows Bo-Dan to get the jump on the aggresive plant and the young monk runs directly to the heart of the plant, drawing her kama as she does so. move action

Once she arrives, she unleases a flurry of blows (1d20+5=22, 1d20+5=25, 1d6+4=5, 1d6+4=8) on the dangerous plant.

As Milhar and Algret's quick indrawn breaths indicate that they had seen the mystic line of the bugbear, Bo-Dan stands ready to guard them, her sharp eyes (1d20+8=18+2 for sight & sound glued for any sign of danger.

Bo-dan enjoys stands at the cave mouth during the thunderstorm, throughly enjoying being witness to nature's fury and inhaling the fresh air the rain brings with it. Only one thing could make it more perfect. Turning to look for her lover she finds Paera already there and their hands naturally slip into each others familiar grasp as silently, they both turn to appreciate the beautiful vista before them.

As the rain finally ends and the two parties make their way out together, Bo-Dan's elven eyes (1d20+10=21) pick out the jungle covered ruins hiding in the overgrowth. Nudging Paera, she indicates the ruins, not able to hide the adventurers sense of excitement and discovery in her gaze. 'Later' they both mouth silently to each other at the same time, sharing a small giggle between them.

As they finally reach the village this time it is Bo-Dan's elvish ears (1d20+10=15) which pick out the sounds of Orkish conversation in one of the huts, but she cannot begin to divine it's meaning.

Her keen sight (1d20+14=23) also enables her to see the two guards outside the large round hut who seem like they should be able to see the party, and the young monk wonders why they do not. The lack of any children around also once again give her the sense (1d20+8=24) that there is something very wrong in the village. As quietly as she can, she passes on the knowledge of what she sees to her comrades.

When Milhar begins his circuit around the village, Bo-dan quietly follows him, ready to protect him if necessary. She draws no weapons though as once again she finds herself in a combat situation in which she has no wish to cause any lasting harm to the combatants.

Stealth (1d20+6=10) IC Doesn't seem to be in a good mood today...:P. I know this may be a little late, after a few rolls have already been made, but would all of us have needed a stealth roll anyway? Might not have the less stealthy ones been able to hang back while the more stealthy crept closer to the battle to pick up the trail? But then, of course, I think our only two members who currently could have been able to see the trail in the first place...ha, ok forget I said anything ;-)

PS Thanks Milhar and no problem. I'll get a response to that in soon. cheers.

Sorry for my lack or posting. There have been some minor RL issues to take up my time and as well, Bo-dan had not seemed to be speaking to me so clearly or loudly. She does have something to say now though ;-)

The wise young monk realizing that for she and her friends to take on the task of distracting, and possibly harming or even killing some of the villagers, might have some disastrous after effects. No matter the reason, there might very well be more than one warrior who has less than pleased with an outsider who harmed or worse a member of his family. With this in mind, after her long silence she finally speaks, her training causing her to naturally defer to the venerated Shaman. She bows deeply, palms pressed together in front of her chest; as she rises she says

"Respected Elder, While I cannot speak for all of my companions, I would not wish to take the chance of having to harm a member of your tribe. While I know it will be hard for you and your warriors to have to fight against your own friends and loved ones, I feel strongly that you are much better suited for that task while we hunt down and destroy the bugbear. As well, even though it was without any intention or malice on our part, I feel we must take responsibility for the harmful actions of the evil creature as it came with us and so it's ultimate destruction must fall to our hands."

After Vic speaks, Bo-Dan adds her part, then waits for a response.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

As Bo-Dan was peering at the village, some of the others may have noticed a slight frown crease her forehead, as if she saw something that concerned her somewhat. With the arrival of the Orks though, the telling of what she saw would have to wait a bit.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

When they reached the of the crest Bo-dan breathed deeply and took a deep breath, sighing in contentment at the natural vista before her. Training her keen eyes (1d20+8=18) (+2 for sight & sound) on the village she tries to pick out all the detail that she can.

As the wind played with her hair, causing wisps to dance about her face the young monk seemed to pay them no attention. Perhaps her impressive powers of concentration allowed her to ignore them, or perhaps it was some small concession her her part to something chaotic. She smiled at Paera though, Bo-dan had always thought her lover looked so cute in her hood.

When the tribesman reveal themselves behind her she turns calmly, not surprised or disturbed at all. Silently she praises their incredible stealth, it showed much training and discipline. She considered what little she knew of the Ork folk. She had never seen an Ork before but she had always been curious. As her eyes move over their still and heavily muscled forms, Bo-Dan tries to perceive which of them might be the leader (Sense Motive?).

First looking to her well traveled heartmate Paera and then any of the others in case they have anything to say, Bo-Dan makes her best guess as to who the leader may be and takes a single step forward as she speaks "Do you understand the Common (?) tongue?" "Or Elvish?" this last spoken in the language of her Elvin forbears.

To be clear, Bo-Dan will only be initiating conversation with the Orks if none of her companions object or have nothing else to say. She will wait to hear they may have to add and may not act at all depending on what is said by them.

Yes, that's no problem Wrath, Bo-dan shared everything she saw with her companions as soon as she got the chance, adding//

"If our 'shadow' had meant us any harm, I'm sure it would have befallen by now. They are probably more worried about us. I suggest we continue to make our way to the village while Vic is still able to follow the trail. I would also advise that we keep our hands as far away from our weapons as possible and make no threatening moves or gestures. We are here to make peace after all."

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

I don't see that we need the Will saves as it seems pretty clear that we would Not be entering near the totems, yes? Bo-dan will certainly be against that idea as it seems would be Paera and Vik.

Spot, Spot, Spot, Spot (1d20+4=22, 1d20+4=7, 1d20+4=22, 1d20+4=10)
(oops! It's perception now, right. Please add +4 to all those rolls and another +2 for sight and sound. Thanks!)

Keeping a close eye on the jungle and on Paera, Bo-dan tries to stay as vigilant as possible but is sometimes somewhat distracted by the possibility of threat to her beloved.

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Still not knowing very much about magic, although after her conversation with the ship's mage she does feel like she can sense...something...from the totems, Bo-dan simply trusts Milhar's expertise on the matter. Yet when he mentions return the totems though the monk does quickly speak up saying
"Whatever we do, I strongly reccomend not touching the totems. I am sure they are of significant religous significane and touching or disturbing them in any way may very well be considered a strong taboo if not an outright insult to whoever placed them there. If they do not represent any direct danger, we should just leave them where they are and issue a strong warning that no one else is to disturb them either."

Don't have too much else to add at this point. Bo-dan is ready to head off to meet the jungle folk or whatever else the party decides to do

Paera and Wrath (a family in need)

Spoiler:

yes Love the tie in there to the Prologue Wrath! Tres cool. = )
Feeling better than she had in some time, Bo-dan had a smile on her face as she made her way over to the Khsimis and her daughters. She was beginning to feel that she and her sweet Pea were actually welcome and...liked, by the refugees. The feeling was a very unusual one for the young Monk, at least outside of the Monastery, but it was a very welcome one.

And they heard the sound of raised voices a slight frown of concern began to crinkle her forehead and she quickened her pace yet as soon as they grew close enough to her what it was about she relaxed, slowed her pace and shared a quick and secret smile with her beloved.

Folding her hands and bowing, Bo-dan faces Kshimia and says, "Eliisal is correct Kshimia in that I shall never break a promise to you, or anyone. As for the hero part, well, I can certainly attribute that to my dear Paera here, for she is the bravest soul that I know." with a smile private small, knowing how the public praise will affect her humble lover. It also serves to repay the rogue for pushing her into the center of attention as she did.

Turning slightly to Kharaisi Bo-dan says softly as her hand seems to drift on it's own to grasp her medallion "Never would I seek tell you how you must live your life Kharaisi. Yet I do wish to share with you this. My mother was taken from this life on the day of my birth. I never knew her, never got to see her, hold her or have her hold me. I would give...almost anything, even just to see her face one time. To actually have her presence in my life, to know how she loves and cares for and looks out for me...would be a bliss I can hardly imagine. Family is the most important gift we have. Were it not for my beloved Pae, I would have none. In this time of trial and tribulation we all now face, family is more important than ever. You are very blessed to have a mother and sister who love and care for you as you do Kharaisi. I only say these things to perhaps remind you of them, and to remind you of how fortunate you are to have so much that many others have never had, or have lost." And with that she also bows deeply to the young woman before her.

She then, with Paera's aid, helps the women set up their tent and with anything else that they may need.

At the Captain's decision to simply exile the man Bo-dan says "Exiling Rafki is almost surely a death sentence as well, as you are fully aware Captain. Killing him would simply a swifter and more merciful death. Yet it is your decision make, so I shall support it."

(Isn't Spot now part of Perception Wrath?) Perception/Spot (1d20+10=24)When her sweet Pea excitedly explains about her find, a genuine smile Bo-dan's face. Yet brief a frown ruins it as she catches the surreptitious looks from the Captain to her dearheart and the Monk's strong hands tighten into fists of their own accord. She does not say anything about it for the moment though.

As for the treasure itself, riches have always been of very little concern to the Monk, yet if it were to enable the refugees a better chance of survival once they reached the mainland, she would support the hunt, yet she most definitely saw making peace with the natives as the first priority.

As Milhar and Paera mention the safety of refugees and the other groups half-elf asks the Captain directly "Has there been any word or sign yet from any of the other groups yet Captain?

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Looking around briefly to the others, Bo-dan avoided only looking at her lover. She knew that this was one of the few subjects that they differed on. "I do not know the particulars of shipboard law Capatin, or if or even how it applies on land, but I do know that, in most lands, Rafki would be considered to have already decided his own fate. Those who willfully do murder have forfeited their own lives. If this man were allowed to live he would be a constant danger to other innocents and that cannot be allowed."

The demeanor of the Monk is not a happy one. She has look of one who is swallowing a bitter, but necessary, fact. The look she finally gives Paera seems to be an almost apologetic one.

"As for the natives, if you feel the camp is properly secure Captain I would be willing to be among those to seek out the peoples of the jungle to sue for peace; or at least gather more information. I am no skilled negotiator, but I can provide another pair of eyes and ears and offer what protection it is within my ability to give."

Whenever you're willing or able to do the other stuff is fine with me Wrath. Thanks.

Congrats Algret!

Spoiler:
Been reading the series again now that it's finally going to be concluded-well in a few years anyway. Robert was a fantastic writer, may he RIP, but he just took too damn long to finish that series! I've been reading it for more than 19 years now! But as the new author has finally been chosen to complete the series and the next new book will be out this fall I figured I'd better be all caught up ;-)

Female Half Elven/Half Human Monk/2

Fantastic as always Wrath, and glad to hear you're on the mend. Just one little thing I think you may have misunderstood. Bo-dan had fully intended to go help Khsimia set up the tent after seeing to the safety of the rest of the refugees and definitely before going to dinner with Paera and the boys. There is no way she would have been able to eat comfortably feeling that she was shirking her ji-e-toh to Khsimia. (Points for anyone who recognizes where that word is from btw ;-)
