Is it just gnomes that are offered, or is it any of the legacy races? Would love to get my hands on a Dwarf.
Please forgive the possible silly question, but has there ever been a case where the powers that be have reversed their decision to change classes/items/etc due to posts on the forums? I personally do not like the changes to the Lord Warden(I have 2), nor do I understand the need to change it, no matter how it is explained or what math is tossed in.

That depends. To the best of my knowledge, you still get all of your Favored Enemy bonuses, even if you can't identify them. That didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but that is how it works. I personally choose to try to have moderate to high knowledges regarding my Favored Enemy/Enemies, just because it makes sense.

Reactionary is nice for the +2 Initiative, and Never Stop Shooting is good too. I found that grabbing a trait that gives you Disable Device as a Class Skill has been very helpful, since you have the big DEX bonus to use. I have been in too many parties that don't have any trap disarming ability, and even if you can't disable magical traps, it has proven very useful on many occasions.

For the people who can't travel to very many conventions or long distance, due to health, income, or location, online games are a godsend. I can say that some of the most fun games I have had have been at the AetherCon tables (thanks to all those who make that possible). I have not found online games to be any different than table top games. There are good players and gms, and there are bad players and gms. I have seen no difference in how some gms fill out Chronicles in person or online...some will fill in details, some will not. The occasional character audit is not a bad idea, but when you have a few dozen chronicle sheets and attached inventory on paper, this is nearly impossible for online games. Also note that many of us are not out to cheat, and keep detailed records for every character. At conventions, even with online conventions, where you only have 4 hour slots, there is just not enough time for the gms to fill everything out...they have to grab all their things and sprint to the next table to even have a chance to start and end on time, not to mention food and bathroom runs. All in all I have had good experiences online, and I hope people continue to run online games well into the future. My thanks to all of you.

FLite wrote: Also, somewhere it is stated, I believe that there is an assumption that you have enough bags / boxes / whatever to haul away all the loot in the scenario, and IIRC the weight of the loot does not need to be tracked unless it explicitly says so. I have yet to encounter a GM that ever checked encumbrance, even when it is so obvious that a person is carrying much more than they ever could, yet somehow moving full normal speed while fully loaded and wearing Medium or Heavy armor. I do, however, keep careful track of it, just in case I run into a GM that actually checks.
While I do level up and advance my own characters, I think part of the reason people would like to have a GM nearby is so they are certain they get everything right...especially when it comes to purchasing new items with prestige or gold. The way it is explained in organized play is not completely clear, and the numerous posts I see every week asking about prestige purchases, gold costs, special material and magic combinations, etc., seems to show that I am not the only one that sometimes gets confused. Some GMs will be helpful when you make mistakes, but I have heard many stories of those who are not so kind or helpful. I'm sure there will be many posts after this saying that is simple and easy to understand, but for some it is not. I will now get off of my soap box. We will now return to your regularly scheduled postings :)

On warhorn, it says part 2 is on the 31. Which one is correct?
You are right. Not all faction traits, or any other traits for that matter, are created equal, and some are quite inferior compared to others. But, I sometimes take them if it fits the character concept, or just to tie them to the faction a little more than your average member. It's not always about the benefits...sometimes it is just for fun or role-playing opportunities :)
Not sure if this is the place to pose this question, but what if you were in a game, and the GM has yet to send you a PFS sheet, even though it has been weeks, and has not responded to requests for the sheet. Do I just go on as if it never happened, as I will have no proof I was ever in it? Hate to think I spent 5 hours, with 3 PC deaths by the end, and nothing to show for it.
Hello. In the additional resources section, it says that Heritages and Traits from pages 21-23 are legal, but farther down it says Variant Aasimar abilities are not legal. Does this mean the alternate skill mods and spell-like abilities listed under the heritages are not legal, and we should use the default abilities listed for Aasimar?
I was looking at posts and the additional resources section, and it was mentioned that the spells/additional abilities listed in the final paragraph of most diety descriptions are not legal. Why? They aren't overpowering or ridiculous compared to some of the materials that are allowed, so I was just curious about the thinking on this. Thanks!
While I love the setting overall, as it really does allow you to play just about anything you can think of, some of the nations are so "strange" or far different from their next door neighbors, I sometimes find it difficult to believe that some of them even exist side-by-side, or exist at all. Don't know how else to say it.

I have reviewed the past posts & questions on this subject but did not come across an 'official' ruling on what action, if any, needed to engage or change the Adaptation ability in combat rounds. "Adaptation (Ex): At 3rd level, an infiltrator learns how to copy the unusual abilities of his prey He chooses one type of creature he has selected as a favored enemy, such as “aberrations. The Ranger selects one ability or feat from the adaptation list for that type (see below). A Ranger can use adaptations for 10 minutes per day per Ranger level he possesses. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be used in 10-minute increments. If the adaptation requires the Ranger to make a more specific choice (such as what skill to use with Skill Focus), this choice is permanent and cannot be changed." and this definition of an Ex ability via PRD/Core rules: "Extraordinary Abilities (Ex): Using an extraordinary ability is usually not an action because most extraordinary abilities automatically happen in a reactive fashion. Those extraordinary abilities that are actions are usually standard actions that cannot be disrupted, do not require concentration, and do not provoke attacks of opportunity." I read this as there is NO action other than reaction to activate this ability. But it does say 'most'... Is the CHOICE to active Adaption an action? If so, then activating an Adaption would require a standard action? Just looking of clarification as this comes up in PFS games with my 10 lvl ranger quite a bit and with no definite ruling it has come down to a discussion and ruling by the GM, which can vary game to game. Official ruling please? Would be grand if the next errata of the Archetype rules included the ruling as well. Thank you.
OK So, I got all excited when this came up in my online search for Fame and Prestige spending: Ultimate Campaign - Reputation & Fame Especially since the Pathfinder Society logo is RIGHT THERE on the left for the menu. But after reading over again i am inclined to deduce that these options are NOT PFS legal. Can anyone please clarify? I found nothing stated yes or no on the page or in my searches. Thanks,
Been off the grid for a bit, and here is why:
Actually, the timing is not the real reason as is the location. I am moving to China. New FTP web3D MMO called City of Steam. Think Jules Verne's Lord of the Rings. (SO much Pulp!!! yeah, i am a bit excited.)
FYI: one of the reasons i got the gig was that i have been running Paizo/Pathfinder and Pathfinder Society games since your Alpha release 4+ years back. And i will be running Pathfinder games for the company on sundays! All the best,
Expect me when you see me,
Tonight i am going to start running the GodsMouth Heresy at our Game Preserve night for PFS characters.
and what if the players don't make all three sessions planned? thanks!
Anyone else running using past games as cannon? We just finished session #1 of new Jade Regent Campaign.
(one of the characters is actually Shayliss Vinder, now a cleric of Desna.) ---
Rise of the Runelord 2.0 ? Anyone run a epic level event with Sorshen?

Spoiler:
... the forces of Lust come to free Sorshen from her entombment. working on it now. any suggestions welcome, especially from Team Paizo. If not, i will post the adventure here when completed.

Pulp rules!
1st level Random Encounter. Six Shiv Dragons Pack (GM augmented)
3rd level.
--- details---
The Shiv Dragons were dominiated and forced to hunt for a nest of modified Aranea (Monster Manual 1, page 15) augmented with the fiendish template and GM flavor. The Aasimar awoke in webbing and was able to escape. The current party has yet to return to avenge the 2 'real' deaths and recover their fallen friends. Mother Thrunefang used Obscuring Mist and the 5' corridor to lure them into tight quarters. The tengu and Battle Oracle fell from paralyzing touches and negative channeling. The Oracle was not dead until she burst negative energy one last time before she was defeated. the survivors buried both near the Dryad's Tree. Player of Battle Oracle is 'rising' from the grave KILL BILL 2 style at the start of the upcoming session. Players and GM having a blast with the AP!
And the terrifying NEW RUNE GIANT mini!!! But first, Dungeon Cat would like a word... Full Slide Show.
Hello. I have cobbled together an extra adventure set in Westcrown for CoT part 1 that happens before the PCs are set to assault the Bastards Hideout. The idea began with using the "Whitechin" story hook but with an encounter I wrote in High School (1981!), and updated to fit into Westcrown. The location is serving as back story for the PC human brother and Tiefling involving their great grandfather’s hidden shine to Norborger under an abandoned theater in the far North east part of the city. I would like to offer it up for free use on the boards but not sure if that is allowed or welcome under OGL or Paizo's guidelines. If not here, where would you suggest? (I am not very savvy on RPG/OGL communities ... yet.) thanks,
Will be adding actual content soon for the chronicle.
Wanted to share the splendid art created of the party: Runelord Party
Left to Right: - Altendyn (Quadirian Elf mage)
The campaign has been amazing and has had a number of cast changes.
See you all at GenCon

My pardon if this has been floated already, but i could not find a similar thread in my searches. Please point me to them, if they exist...
Ever since i started running RotR, i have wondered if there was Sin Magic, what about the opposite? and what would you call it? I am using a working storytelling background that there were 'good' runelords, but that they might have gone into hiding or something. still mulling. thoughts? smack downs? cookie? |
