Liberty's Edge

I purchased the pdf for the wrong DM. Can that be changed after the order is complete?

Liberty's Edge

I am working on a campaign built on modules instead of an AP. Basically, I am starting with the three modules for the Price of Immortality (Crypt of the Everflame, Masks of the Living God and City of Golden Death) That should take the characters to like 7ish, maybe?? Anyway, I am making the campaign a mystery type. So, I am thinking Realm of the Fellnight Queen for 7-9, then The Harrowing for 9-11, then I am sorta stuck.

What can I run to get my players up to higher levels?

I don't mind going outside of Pathfinder and such.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Thought I would share how I got it done, in case others are thinking about it.

I went to FedEx/Kinkos and asked them to cut the binding off, then spiral bound the books. Decided that each one would be too small, so went with 3 in each bound book. I left the covers on, meaning you have a nice spot to see where the books end. The finished product is about 1/2 inch in thickness and the guy shaved the covers a little to make them fit into the binding better. I had them put a clear plastic cover on the front and black and thicker piece on the back.

My plan is to take a label of some sort and put the book numbers on the front so I'll know which one is which. I will probably do the Reign of Winter AP too.

The cost is about $20 bucks, you could probably save a little by combining the books into one volume or add a little by doing them in pairs, as there is a cost for each binding.

Once you get the binding removed, I suppose you could put them in a three ring binder, to give them a bit more protection.

I am probably eating up the savings for being a AP subscriber, but I think the end product is worth a bit more and it gives me a campaign source that opens flat, instead of having to fight the binding.

I've thought about dropping the AP subscription and just buying the PDF and printing them out, because I have access to several color laser printers, but I like the idea of getting the heavier stock in the book. Plus then I would lose my 15% for the other purchases and in the end maybe break even.

My thought was to Weapon Focus, maybe specialization, into Spears. His ranged will be the spears or sling if need bludgeoning damage. My other thought was to Shield bash and maybe bull rush the mob back into spear range, if they get close (based on a thread I read here in the advice forum)

Would Power Attack be the feat for 2? Then work on the Weapon Focus, until I qualify for ITWF? Or should I work on my shield feats first? I don't need to be a turtle or even the damage soaker, since we have quite a few melee folks in our group. I wouldn't be opposed to a dip into something. I was thinking of following Rogue Eidolon's Guide with the Sword and Board build. That sound like a plan?

Liberty's Edge

I know this topic has been discussed like back in 2008 and such, but lots of books have been released since then. I am relatively new to Pathfinder but I am quite addicted. I am going to GM a group of friends for either Google Hangout/PbP/Roll20 AP--Rise of the Runelords.

I have the Core Rulebook, the GM book, the APG and the new Codex of NPCs.

I am trying to decide which books I want/need and which ones I should just go the pdf route, so I thought I would turn to you more experienced players and GMs and see what you could consider better as a book and which is a pdf candidate. If won the lottery, yes, I would buy the entire catalog, but I haven't. Plus, when I head out to games, I don't have room to drag every book with me.

So what say you folks?

Liberty's Edge

My normal group is running a homemade, from level 1, but 3 of us and the GM are going to run a single shot campaign when we get together next month. The GM told us, I'll run it, but it's going to be Tomb of Horrors level, so bring your A games. I've been playing a ranger in the main campaign, with a paladin "tank" and a cleric healer in a 2nd side game.

I really am interested in the fighter class and was thinking of going pure archery, but without knowing what the others are doing, I was thinking maybe I need to go more switch hitter style. It's a 20 point buy and we haven't settled exact level yet, but at least 10.

The GM has basically told us nothing is really off limits although he would have to approve things like a hobgoblin ranger (odd races would have to be approved)

One guy is leaning towards Drow Assassin. The GM and I have discussed the straight fighter archer, but even dipping into Rogue to get the sneak attack option too. So I could go 9 fighter 1 rogue.

I've read all the fighter guides and they seem to focus mostly on 2handers or TWF builds. I am not opposed to a Ranger build, but I've skirted around fighter so many times (i've killed a character and almost created a fighter and the side project I waffled fighter/paladin).

So anyway, we are starting with the 62k and skills/traits/feats etc. I really want to bring my A game, because once this run is done, we start the campaign I am GMing, swapping places with the current GM and dropping the other side campaign. I want to have a great finish!

Liberty's Edge

Homebrew campaign, no skills (basically if you try something and it makes sense, it's a D20 +(skill modifier), basically we call it Pathfinder Lite. But if you try something that's not in your normal class skills area you take a penalty normally.

Anyway, I am playing a Woodland Skirmisher Ranger, dwarf, rolled stats and placed by me. As you look at these stats understand that this is a replacement for my dead ranger and we have 2 barbarians, druid (mostly melee and ranged touch spells, cleric, and a wizard, plus the ranger and 2 NPC fighter types (we own a wagon and use it to drive from place to place) Heavy RP play by post campaign.

STR-13
DEX-15
CON-17
INT-11
WIS-17
CHA-8

I am still level 1, most of the group is level 2, I was in the lead with my first ranger, off by himself and ran into a group of 3 orcs...died. So I am tail end charlie.

My plan is to mostly ranged, since we have potentially 3 major melee folks, plus others that can play in melee. I suppose had I to do it all over again, I would have chosen human and put the stats another way, but I live and learn.

My plan is to be Archery in combat style, eventually getting a +1 Composite Longbow (I was going crossbow and research corrected that thought) So right now I have the feats setup like this:

1-Point Blank Shot
2(CS)Precise Shot (This is where I need advice do I switch this to Rapid Shot?)
3)Deadly Aim
5)Weapon Focus-Longbow (another advice area)
6(CS)ManyShot
7)Boon Companion
9)Snap Shot
10(CS)Improved Precise Shot
After that it gets muddy.

Thoughts?
