Bernum takes the lead and heads down the wide main corridor, his torch bobbing through the darkness as he keeps to the centre of the path.

Following their new dwarven companion, Bernum attempts to move silently as they approach the area her says they defeated a giant.

Bernum shows the fancy crown to the others.

"That dead man-at-arms will have no further use of this bit of tat. I'll put it into my pack for the time being. Let's move on and see what else we can find!"

While the others stand and talk, Bernum uses his foot to clear some of the carapaces away from the floor...just to see if they obscure anything important.

"Welcome and well-met friend dwarf. I am Bernum, priest of the One True God. I am most thankful for your help!"

The young priest bows slightly to their new companion.

Remembering that he had stuffed a sling and some bullets into his pouch, Bernum pulls them out and fires at the bat.

Unless they have moved lower, then Bernum cannot reach them, so he will remain on the defensive.

Unable to reach any of the enemies, Bernum readies his mace for when they come near.

Bernum grips his heavy mace and shield tightly and readies for battle.

Heeding Dugal's request, Bernum pulls the door closed as the last of the group pass through.

Bernum enters the room and stands away from the stone chest until Buster looks it over and deems it safe.

"Well so far so good! A quick prayer and rest are in order, I think before we proceed!"

"Clever! Good eyes Greyshadow...now lets see how this door would open."

Bernum will examine the door to see if he can figure out how to open it fully.

Snuffing out his lantern, Bernum took in his surroundings.

"Well this is different. Here let's see if we can scrape some into my lantern."

Bernum moves over to where Greyshadow is trying to get some of the fungi onto his torch.

Bernum heeds Greyshadow's idea and brings out his lantern. He attaches it onto his belt to give the group a bit better light.

Bernum follows the others and keeps his weapons ready.

With the prayer said, Bernum moves forward into the darkness. He stops just before entering and lights a torch before moving onward.

"I will need some time to complete my morning prayers and observances. Perhaps I should join you on the first watch?"

Having carefully stored the holy artifact he was entrusted with and grabbing a few more vials of Holy Water, Bernum is ready to go.

"The Underworld is a place unto itself! The chaos taint makes almost anything possible, so we best keep alert at all times!"

After speaking with his superior, Bernum walks into the tavern to inform the others.

"The Captain seems to think this 'adventure' will be anything but, however, he has given me permission to join you. He feels that this will be a 'teachable' moment...whatever that is suppose to mean!"

Sorry I have not been on much this week...had a medical emergency within the family. All is good now, thankfully. I will hand-wave the meeting with my superior, but I was hoping that he might be able to lend me a holy relic...perhaps a weapon???

"Well it all sounds good...let me speak to the Prior-Captain and get his take on things. Perhaps he will be able to allow some of our holy items to be used in this very important mission. I know a magical weapon that I could wield would be welcome!"

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Templar walks over to the tempory chapterhouse to speak with his superior.

Bernum glances over at the dwarf, a sour look on his face.

"Do you take nothing seriously?"

Turning to the guard, he gives a slight bow.

"Thank you for your assistance."

Bernum also frowns at the gross display of wealth shown to the poor man. He holds back from saying anything as fae are a strange and flighty race.

"The Church would be very interested in this "commission", as this is the first time I have heard of it! I am sure Prior-Captain Waylan would be interested."

Even though he can read the postings himself, Bernum sees the paying of Pete to read them out as a form of charity, and almost every morning he gives the poor fellow a penny to tell him the local news.

"Here you are Pete. So what do we have today? Something good I hope!"

He turns as Buster calls out to them. He winces at the nickname the dwarf uses and for the hundredth time wonders where the fellow comes from. His speech and mannerisms always seem weird to the cleric.

Good morning Master Buster...and I will remind you AGAIN to please call me Brother Bernum, or simply Bernum...please."
