I'm starting to buy and paint minis for the AP, and would like to hear from those of you out there who do the same.

Generic single charater minis are, to me, fairly easy - use a rogue for Graeden, female bard for Trina or necromancer for Rolth. Give someone a unique costume, like Jolistina or Laori, then its a little harder.

For minions like Hell Knights or Korvosan Guards, the challenge is to find three or four similar-looking minis in different poses. You can find skeletons or zombies in multi-packs through several suppliers.

Here's my list of challenging minions and unique characters from CotCC. Please write in with your suggestions.

Minion Groups:
Hell Knights
Korvosan Guards
Gray Maidens
Abdar Clerics
Queen's Physicians
Vampire Spawn
Priests of Urgathoa
Red Mantis Assassins
Various Rashakas

Major Characters:
Sabina Merrin
Queen Ileosa
Jolistina Susperio (in costume)
Dr. Davaulus
Ramoska Arkminos
Leukodaemon
Lady Adnaisin
Pilts Swastel
Jabbyr
Bahor Arkona
Vimanda Arkona

All I've got at this point is this:
Hell Knights - Reaper's Crimson Knight from Warlord Necropolis team
Gray Maidens - Reaper's Grunts with swords from Warlord Overlord team
Sabiina Merrin - Moraia Warbride from Warlord Overlord

What are you using?

My players "short-circuited" the entire All the World's Meat adventure last night.

Spoiler:

They scouted the shop during the day, then returned at night to climb up the roof, quietly open a window to Vanik's room, then knock him out (coup de grace) with a blackjack. With the henchmen's Wis of 9 and Vanik's Wis at 8, they failed their listen checks. Vanik was caught asleep and the henchmen were in the next room playing cards and never heard a thing.

They were very proud that they could get something like this accomplished without having the knock-down-drag out fight.

I like it when my players take unusual approach to a job and succeed in pulling it off. They felt very clever of themselves and I like it when they feel clever. :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm starting Edge of Anarchy next Friday and I'm trying to figure out music to set the mood. I've used soundtracks to Eberron and Balder's Gate for other straight-up fantasy, and I'm looking for something a bit less "orchestral" but not going as far as gothic heavy. When I read through the adventure, moodier rock music such as early Peter Gabriel or late 70s Genesis come to mind.

So, for those of you who use background music as an element for your games, what's your choice so far when running CoCT?
