I am running a 3.5 game and my cleric summoned an elemental monolith. He had to flee to the ethereal plane or die. My question is Does the summoned elemental go back to its plane or does it go berserk and kill all till the summoning expires?

Belric will wait for the other Peacemakers to finish with their last minute doodads, while sitting his warsteed.

Belric relaxes in his newly acquired chair, in his newly acquired room, wiggling his hairy toes near the fire while sipping from his magical tankard. ahhhh, tis a grand stout this wizardly mug makes! Belric’s booming belch gives voice to his inner pleasure.

I wonder who used this room before me. Must hae been some soft officer sort since the bed be a wee bit soft tae my liking. Ach what a stroke o Moradin’s luck giving us this fine stone tower tae operate from. Being between Agathon’s and Jaques’ holdings this makes a very good starting point tae get things moving. From here we can get the silver mine up and working tae fund the rebuilding of our Duns. Taking another long pull from the tankard, Belric shifts his but to get more comfortable.
Things we need tae do, 1 make a new altar. 2 get an alchemy lab up and running. 3 start making more scrolls. I think we will need more prepping tae go after that damnable dragon. I cannae believe it jacked us aboot a second time. Hmmmm I need to make sure that Garsh’s pay, and personals get tae his family.

Ye will hear, smell, and feel things better than ever before so do nae dismiss anything ye may experience or we all may regret it” Belric intones the prayer to endow Jaques with Blindsight waving his thick fingers over Jaques face, ears, and nose he finishes with a gentle slap on his check “thar ye go, now run ahead and kill some gobbers”

Belric will get his ax ready and shield and move in after the others ahh open skies be all fine an such, but being in the earth is the best

As the hippogriff rider approaches Belric will stand ready with a prayer of Downdraft in case this Elward is false and is trying to cull the party into laxness for an assault.

“Good day tae ye Horsebird Master” Belric will say as the introductions are meted out. Keeping a wary eye out for anything sneaking up on the negotiations he will keep counsel to himself at this point.

Belric shrugs his shoulders adjusting his plate armor into a more comfortable position, fingering his axe handle in an unconscious habit of contemplation.

Ach, good lets us get intae the fight, I like our order of entry, will ask Moradin for his blessing tae detect magic. A group of goobers this organized with a user o magic will know aboot this back entrance, and trap it with something nasty

Belric will stay at camp, and start the camp fire and get things set up for administrating to the wounds, he will gather up Idnae’s leg so that it won’t be taken by scavengers and start digging a grave for it.

Ach, this puir gnome ye shall be missed. Ma bones still ache with fear from that foul beast, I must prepare better for that in case it comes back. I hope the others be alright and come back soon

When Agathon and Jaques return, he will listen to Agathon’s apology, huff out his mustachios and reply “Ach lad dinnae worry aboot it, tae tell ye ma heart joost stopped when that foul beastie glared at me, and I felt as if my bones were crack’n!” Belric will pat Agathon on the arm, and look at Jaques.

“Are ye hurt lad?” Receiving a negative nod from the quiet man, Belric will ask “So any idea as to where the others are? Oh and I buried Idnae’s remains, we can give a service when we all are together” Belric will point to where the small, small mound was next to a boulder that Belric chiseled her name on.

That poor gnome! Well she went fast that’s all any o us can ask for. I need tae concentrate and heal those that can benefit from it. First I need tae heal Agathon he looks a bit worse for wear

“That should hold ye up for a bit, we need tae find the others that went a running, tae make sure they survive!” Belric will gently tell Agathon to help bolster his will. “First let me light up the area so our lost companions may find their way back” Belric casts light on his shield to be a beacon for the others.

“HA! TAKE THAT YE SLIMY LIZARD! (GASP) ACH! LEAVE THAE WEE ONE ALONE YE COWARDLY NEWT!” Belric’s first elation at his successful sound lance, quickly turns to acidic dread seeing Idnae’s peril. He starts forward pulling his crossbow and loading it on the way towards the wyrm.

One last prayer at ma disposal tae cause harm tae that wyrm, a blast from Moradin’s forge itself, but it be too far away!

Belric moves up 20 feet screaming obscenities (with a few gasps and whimpers as the dragon fear asserts itself)

"Sorry lad, I dinnae pray for any other protections, ye hae tae just keep ye distance" Belric takes aim and fires +8-2 for fear, -4 for distance magical light crossbow (1d20+2=12)

Ach, cannae even hit something as big as that flying lizard!

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHH, the scream in Belric’s head or was it aloud seems to go on forever. Barely being able to think as he feels the physical onslaught of the wyrm’s presence, he grips his holy symbol in panic and his first coherent thought By the nine hells! A dragon, well at least Moradin can take some of the sting out the beast’s spit

“MmmmmooraDIN! Hear ma prayer, protect us from the creature’s vile spittle!” Belric looks about trying gauge where everyone is at so that he can protect as many as possible. He brandishes his Holy Symbol feeling his God’s power build up and in an explosive flash a golden glow flares out covering himself and the others.

CK Notes:
Belric casts Resist Energy Mass the spell lasts 90 minutes, gives DR 20 v acid.

It was cast to cover Agathon, Belric, and anyone else who is within 30 feet of Belric.

Also Belric is currently a +12 to saves v. fear due to his dwarven ability and the Bless spell.

I am not sure how long a turn is v rounds

Trolls, do they travel in packs like wolves? Not sure, but I’ll crisp up the first tae get intae ma range for some fire from Moradin’s Forge

Belric will wait for the trolls to come into his range of 190 feet and then light the first up with a flamestrike Flamestrike (9d6=28) pretty lame

Belric will look up at Agathon’s warning, wipe the water from his brow and look about “Lads be ready tae receive ma Lord Moradin’s Blessing upon us” Belric will brandish his holy symbol, while absorbing Master Thaddeus’s wise counsel.

Aye trolls are mooch like rats, find one thar moost be moore aboot. Agathon be a good lad always thinking o protecting others, while putting hiself intae thae path o pain

Belric prays aloud: Moradin ma Lord bless ma fine bonnie lads in this time of slaying o evil, bring us ye boon tae slay thae evil beastie

Belric’s holy symbol flares with eldritch light washing over all! The feeling of confidence fills all, banishing any minor fears or trepidations of facing combat flee in Moradin’s blessings.

“GARSH! Bring ye weapon tae me! Garsh will stomp up to Belric, look at him with some curiosity, “What? We got a troll acomming and ye want tae talk? Are ye daf…” Belric’s slap against Garn’s battle axe shuts him up as the crunching of glass reaches his hairy ears. Belric grins at Garsh “Shut ye trap I just enchanted ye weapon ye boob! Now go stand the line and prove ye worth!”

CK Summary: Knowing the troll is 300 feet away, Belric casts Bless which has no area of effect just affects all allies (as per C&C PHB pg 69) who now have +1 to hit and +1 saves to fear for 9 turns.

Belric used one of his magic oils of magic weapon on Garsh’s Battle axe giving him and an additional +1 to hit and damage for 1 minute.

Telling Garsh to stand the line will be up to you O Great CK to determine based on his Int of 10 and Wis of 12

Belric will stare at the man for a bit, then in an even tone, “I have let ye know aboot the changes tae come, so when they do ye will either be an asset or be a brief problem, so hae a good day tae ye and yours”

Belric and the others will move back to the mines to explore for the day before making another camp in a different location though with similar but not exactly the same preparations for security.

Belric addresses his fellow nobles “Ach these puir fowk are here tae get away from the troubles o the war” He pauses taking in the others’ attitudes, “Ma take on it tis that this be ma land and as the Laird tis ma responsibility tae see thair intentions”
Seeing that all are in agreement, he will lead on his horse to the village telling the hirelings to stay back and keep an eye out for any sign of any threat.

“Hallo the Village” Belric will yell out “I am Sir Belric Silveraxe, my fellow knights and I wish to speak with whoever is in charge”

[ooc] GM Note, Thaddeus has mage armor and protection from normal missiles up, Jaques will be hanging back a bit ready to leap off his horse and knock any missiles out of the air. Agathon will try to appear noble and keep his lopsided grin off of his face.

If the leader is willing to talk Belric will explain on how he wants to meet with them and explain his position and weigh their intentions. He plans on giving them a choice of swearing fealty to stay on his land with the possibility of owning land. He will first want to see what kind of people they are and whether or not they are lawful in their nature. If they satisfy his judgement and swear fealty he will let them stay. He thinks that the process will take about 3 days, while he sets up a temporary heirachy of authority appointing a headman/woman, listening to their wishes and leaving them to get things going. He will explain that he will help pay for supplies to start a proper village.

If things go south the party will respond to your post individually.

Belric grunts off the slight discomfort of the wolf’s slavering attack. How’d the darn beastie get under ma shield that quickly?
He takes a step back trying to get back to back with Verlik and yells out “Moradin, let ye Holy Forge light up our enemies so that we may smite ‘em!”

The clear pure white light bathes the area around Belric and Velrik revealing the enemy and showing their position for the others.

CC Note: Belric AC 25 HP 53 he just cast light spell on the nearest tree so that Verlik will have a better view of the enemies. He will aim for about 10 feet up and on the end of a branch. The spell lights up a 40 foot area with clear white light for 90 minutes

Ma respect tae the scribes, this surely be a pain in the arse, hand an eyes! Belric thinks as he finishes his last scroll. Rising from his desk, he wanders up to the kitchen to see if there is any food available. Luckily his timing is perfect as the help has just finished making dinner.

“Good evening to ye ladies,” Belric greets them warmly, “Surely Moradin blessed ye with divine cooking skills, that smells great” Moving about the kitchen he will try to snatch a bite, only to receive a spoon whack and a frown, “Alright I will go an wash up and sit down at the table, but has any dwarves answered ma employment notice?”

Keeper, Belric placed notice as to hiring a fighter type dwarf or gnome to go adventuring, if answered please email me the particulars
After dining with the others, Belric will explain his scroll list to the others, listen to their ideas as to what to be done next and add his opinion. Taking a sip from his everfull mug he will agree with the group’s collective decision.
“So in the morning we leave, fine will be good tae be on the road looking tae smite evil”.

4th Day of Reaping

Belric sits in prayer at his personal altar in his room silently communing with his deity. As his consciousness descends from the higher planes, he slowly opens his eyes. Snuffing out his expensive incense, noting to himself that he would need to purchase some more.

He looks about his tidy and earthy room. To his right, his wall of victory proudly displays his prized possessions. His enchanted full plate. The soft candlelight bringing a slight gleam as it hangs in its stand. Next to it his large shield looks so mundane, with its rents and gashes in it wooden surface. ach, it surely hae save ma life and kept ma enemy’s blades from my hide. A new mithril shield would be better though! His family axe in its stand almost seems to speak to Belric, “never use the crossbow, it is not a weapon for you” causing Belric to look at the offensive item sticking out of his travel chest. His gaze returns to his armor bringing a puzzled frown to he face.

Just what happened with them gnomes? I remember a gigantic spider and webs. I went in with one set of armor and a fuzzy deal of buying this set and everyone getting something, but it still makes ma brain sweat.

Standing and straightening his tunic, Belric scans the rest of his 25 by 25 cellar room, making sure that his hidden cache stays undisturbed. His low hard bed sits opposite of his altar, calling him to sleep after the feast he really needs it. The feast surely was a fine thing, the girls really outdid themselves! Ma sister surely did me proud! She out ate Agathon and kept up with me mug fer mug! Hope she is comfortable up there in those airy rooms, but dinnae hae time tae make room for her down where dwarves belong. It was really good tae see her, but her constant “advice” reminds me why I went intae the priesthood! Although the look on her face was priceless when we entered the city. I dinnae like all that yelling and such when we arrived in Knurl. Too much of a fuss for what anyone would hae done in our place, but it put a lock and key on her yapper!

Belric’s attention is diverted when his gaze falls to his desk where he left the neverending mug of ale. Ach that sure be a fine thing, never need tae get the eye o a serving wench ever again!! Now mind ye being in a true dwarvish tavern be no problem, but being among all the taller folk makes one hard to be seen. I wonder how hard it will be tae talk the others out of this item, or how much it will cost ma purse.

The thought of treasure picks and his fellow adventurers, brings smile to Belric’s face making his fiery whiskers to stand out. What a great bunch o lads tae be slaughtering gobbers with. Agathon’s sword, Magic of Master Thaddeus, and oooh how much quiet Jacques set aboot slapping the shite out o them gobbers.

With that thought, Belric recalls the fight in the pit at the Black Gauntlet where Jaques dropped that oversmug Hobgobber in just a few bone cracking punches. That thought leads to being forced by circumstances into making deals with orcs and gobbers causes an acid reflux of pain in Belric’s gut.

That thought leads to the she-devil, A drow, she looks like any other stinking elf, just darker, what was her name….. Zardeloon, yes that was it. She really was a hard one tae being down, but through the Power of Moradin an the Lads we did it! Although I was too worried aboot that golem o blood, by Moradin's forge those flails were large enough tae bring down a Mountain Giant! Belric shudders at the memory of that foul creature. He then switches gears again Ach, Agathon ye surely seem tae be upset aboot Master Thaddeus’s thirst for vengeance against that black skinned she devil! She surely deserved it being a sneaky ambushing elf! Zardeloon should hae had her head taken when she went down, as for all the bother she created on our way home! Sure her information mae hae given the Count something useful, but ye cannae trust an elf. She probably just batted her eyes at him and smiled all pretty like and schwing he nae be thinking straight and believing all sorts of nonsense!

Bringing up a memory Belric quietly asks “How can ye tell when an elf be lying?” chuckling before he even answers “its lips be moving!”

Thinking about the long travel back to Knurl, That she-devil really was causing the lads lots o discomfort…..ughhh thae surely hae poor taste in females. An Master Thaddeus, he really wished tae do some hurt tae her, and some more. I could see the relief in the others’ eyes that he contained himself. Would hae been better thought tae hae slain her in the heat o combat. She surely will be back tae bother us, or I am a bearded Halfling!

Belric undresses and gets into bed and remembers how they made a deal with a devil himself, the orc leader of the tribe that slaughtered his clan. “if innocent lives hadn’t been at stake. Ma axe would hae tasted his foul blood. Ugh may ma ancestors forgive ma decision!!! “ Belric takes a last swig from the neverending mug “ I should give ye a name, if ye become mine I could name ye Belric’s Belcher! Nah, something better but what?” Setting the beautiful item down, Belric stretches When we meet with the Count tomorrow an if he grants us land, ma clan will hae a place tae call their own! With that last pleasant thought, Belric drifts into the realm of dwarvish dreams.

Belric will dress in his clerical robes for meeting with the Count and if he gets the mug and mail shirt will wear it underneath and have a dagger with him

Belric will keep a wary out for any sneaking and skulking enemies, as he moves where Thaddeus figures to do the most good.

Belric will puff up his chest, hem and haw a bit, stroke his beard, and add “Also, if ye or ye advisors can think o what I might be needing in the way o prayers from Moradin tae help just ye let me know and I will pray tae his Lordship for them”.

Blushing slightly due to his war campaign ignorance Belric will snort, squirm some more then gruffly state “Ach well there ye hae it, so I also would like tae know as if ye hae been in tooch with Master Ebbers, and do ye know if he mae be joining us soon?”

Belric will listen to any campaign advice and make sure he has the correct spell components to be able to cast his spells.

Once done speaking with Sir Gendar, Belric will first ask his party members if they have any black diamonds, tourmalines, onyx, agates, sapphires, or star sapphires

CK he is looking for 200 GP value of black gemstones for making of glyph of warding. I figure Moradin the Forger of Souls and used to have the Earth Domain, black would be his color and the spell requires gems of a Deity’s color. He can pay for one casting.

If the party has none he will seek out the other spell casters in the war band to try and get some. Belric will first look for the folk of correct stature, Dwarves and gnomes (no Halflings they cannae cast spells as far as they can stretch!)

Once he finds a spell caster he will approach with his best behavior….. Belric had 7 ranks in Diplomacy in 3.5 so if that helps….

Seeing a mage shuffling through his pack, Belric will notice that the
man has a scratch on his face, probably from a branch or some such elvish trickery .

“Hurrumph” Belric will break the ice, “ Ach ma eyes see ye hae a bit o pain tae ye. Let ma Laird’s power cure that ach, so ye can properly study ye magic!” Belric will look at the human and offer his flagon of ale, “Of course ye must partake o me Laird’s Holy Water tae speed thae healing!”

Belric will cast cure minor wounds first if allowed, then try to get the gem dust, haggle and bribe with healing and such to get it using his best diplomatic skills and dwarvish logic.

Belric having completed his business will return to his companions.

“Lads, I thank ye for taking care o me as I lay at thae mercy o our foes, I hae some good dwarvish ale I was saving, boot I think ye are deserving o haeing a cup!”

While sharing the campfire with his boon companions, Belric will care for his gear, cleaning and polishing, and honing as needed. He will remove his magical banded mail and put on his magical studded leather that he had in his saddlebags. ach this leather surely be more comfy tae sleep in than that banded!

Belric will look about the campsite, and spots a nice flat rock that would be a great pillow! When he tries to move it, he finds out that it is a part of a larger rock that has a light covering of dirt, but has the perfect dimensions of a Dwarvish cot! He bids his fellows good night.

Wis check to hear and wake up, initiative for when he does. (1d20+3=17, 1d10=3)

As Belric dreams of little hairy women and ale, he is awakened by a disgusted exclamation of “EWWWWW!”. Sitting up he looks around for the source of disturbance, and notices Agathon’s last dreaming moments. “Hands raised above his prone form, squeezing and moving in circular motion”. hmm, the lad surely be having himself some sort o battle! I think he was some sort o body warrior like Jaques o some such!

After Agathon lurches to his feet, (wiping his sleep drool away) Belric gets to his knees and sees the opponent!

ach, that be one big arsed toad that ma eyes hae ever seen!

Belric will grab his shield and ax, and plan the best approach to the creature, while looking about for any more freakish amphibians.

since we were invisible for only 6 minutes, and 10 minutes have passed I have adjusted my post for that fact that the invisibility ran out

“Ah Master Ebbers, then ye be aff tae harass the craiturs o the Bane March? What aboot yer hammer an ma axe helping the defenders o Spinecastle, mostly ma sister Namira?” Belric will take the ancient key out from under his armor and let it dangle from the steel chain he secures it with around his neck.

Belric will keep his demeanor neutral and wait to see what Ebbers responds with.

Hearing the alarm, he will look up river and try to determine the nature of the new commers. He will also apply his teachings about a man's words and meaning and try to determine if "Master Hammersmith" is speaking true!

Sense motive and spot againts the on coming boats for humanoid shapes... goblinkind specifically as they are dwarvish life enemies possible +1 to the spot check (1d20+4=17, 1d20+4=14)

If Belric senses deceit in Master Hammersmith's words or if he spots anything conflicting with the approaching enemy as not being what was alarmed about he will attract the nearest party member, preferrably Thaddeus or Jaques and give the signal that not all is at it appears. If we don't have a signal he will make the first listed action. If he doesn't sense deceit and his spot reveals nothing or confirms goblinkind then the second action occurrs

FIRST ACTION:

"AYE YE FALSE DOG! YE BE TRAING TAE TRAP MA FOWK TAE DAITH!" Belric will wait to see if his words cause them to show their true intent and he will fire his cross bow at "Master Hammersmith" Magical light cross bow shot (1d20+6=10, 1d8+1=7) If no traitorous action he will wait.

"ACH, DONKEY! I shae not be leaving ma beastie! Master Thaddeus let us tak em on at da entrance tae da ruins!" Belric will be very agitated about his mule ( and his gear) to leave it to anyone.

Seeing the all clear signal, Belric will stomp down to the others. He will keep his crossbow loaded, but resting on his shoulder in as non-threatening way as possible.

"Greetings ta ye and ye kin Master Hammersmith" Belric will state, and watch the woods for any enemy, listening to the conversations and still being wary of these scouts.

Belric will stay at the 125 yard mark when the party first spotted the skiff, taking in the entire scene. He will watch all aboot, and listen as well to try and detect any other possible interested parties.

Belric will stay hidden (if he is) and watch til something occurs. If the humans attack he will run full tilt (80 feet or 26 yards) towards the fray. If civil dialog occurs he will still stay hidden and keep a sharp dwarvish eye out and a keen dwarvish ear alert to keep his friends safe until they signal him to join them.

“UNDEAD!” Belric bellows as he feels the freezing touch of the deathless. His muscles tighten and cramp, making him feel weaker!

Keeping his shield up he lets his waraxe drop by its retaining strap letting it dangle from his wrist as he pulls his holy symbol from his neck.

Thrusting it forward at the creature, Belric beseeches his Deity to provide the power of Moradin.

“By the HOLY ANVIL O MORADIN, AND HIS BLESSED FORGE, BEGONE FOUL UNCLEAN CREATURE!”

Turning Check, Turning Damage, Knowledge religion check to determine type and strength of undead (1d20=5, 2d6+5=12, 1d20+8=17)
Belric’s turning check results in him being able to affect a 3 HD creature or less, if this is 3HD or less then it will be turned unless it is 2 hD or less and then it is destroyed…….One could hope!
