Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"Are there any other rooms in this temple we need to check before we move on?"

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"Impressive work; someone has a grudge and way too much time on their hands." Belnan just shakes his head at the damage.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"Indeed, oh well, probably better to let them get it out there system before we try to sleep." Belnan just shakes his head, biting his tongue to keep from saying more as he fall into position, having already said his fill plenty during the last adventure, and not seeing any reason to keep saying it when they obviously aren't learning.

My rolls are also above.

Before he left the campsite, Belnan casts an alarm spell set to give him a mental warning. As he approaches the temple, he examines the damage, trying to determine the source and extent of the damage, and when he gets in range also casts detect magic. Blackie stays close, resting on the elf's shoulder, eyes open for trouble.

Knowledge (arcana) 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Knowledge (engineering) 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Blackie perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Belnan just sighs as Gyles walks toward the temple. Not entirely thrilled with the idea of going in without confirming the status of the lake and getting some rest, he just shakes his head, and follows behind, muttering something about stubborn mules.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"Yes, nothing but a nice peaceful lake, and the giant frogs that are watching us from the other side of lake. At least we've ascertained that the problem is deep down, whatever it is. Now, who wants to lead the examination of the frogs?" Blackie continues to circle overhead a little above Belnan as he shares that bit of news.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"It's not inherently magical, at least on the surface, so my guess is it's bubbling up from a source deep down or somewhere inside one of the temples that has an opening to the lake bottom."

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Belnan sends Blackie out over the lake, flying at about 50-60 feet above the water, to see if he can ascertain more about the bubbling as the wizard watches for any signs of movement, crossbow loaded and ready.

Belnan perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Blackie perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"Anything moving, and anything that would suggest that the lake is somehow tied to the hidden temple entrances, such as unusual currents or unexpected bubbling, are the things I am looking for." Belnan says after quickly putting his gear in order at the campsite and heading to the lake. When he gets in range, he casts detect magic.

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Blackie Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

"Set up camp than make sure nothing living in the lake is going to be a problem before we dive into the temples. I understand your eagerness, my dear paladin, and it is not entirely a bad thing, but it does tend to leave your backside open on occasion." Belnan heads toward the nice looking campsite, keeping weapon ready and eyes open.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"Perhaps we can discuss this over supper. I see a nice campsite up on a small rise between the temples."

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Belnan and his raven flying above follow behind, both looking for good defensible campsites.

Belnan perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Blackie perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"As you are a half-orc of action, if you wish to lead on toward the lake, we should start to look for a suitable spot for a camp and determine what if any threats the lake presents. That way our good paladin will have a chance to investigate the temples sooner rather than later."

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"Purging the lake is probably beyond our ability, but we should ascertain it's current threat level as we pass by it to the temples. There is no point in rushing blindly in if the catacombs are as vast as you say. Taking time to get a good understanding of what we are dealing with may well save our skins. Therefore at least a cursory search of the lake and temples is advicable before we hit the catacombs."

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"When we get closer I can try to detect the presence of magic. I just hope the taint hasn't caused any issues for anything that may have been in the lake when it hit."

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

"The purity of the lake is not in and of itself my concern as much as ascertaining precisely what level of threat it is and what is needed to eliminate or at least contain that threat while we deal with our main goals."

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Belnan seems glad to be finally able to start the primary task, and cuts to the point immediately, as is his usual behavior. "I suggest we clear up matters of the lake and than start with the temple of Thyr. We may need to make a semi permanent camp, and having the safety of the lake in question would not be a good idea."

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Diverse in approaches, but not intent. Should be fun.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Gyles should be an interesting foil for Belnan. Same basic overall goals ultimately, but completely different reasons and preferred means of achieving said goals.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Belnan is a serious looking elf abjuration wizard.

Last I knew, no traits as they are in the APG. Just the corebook.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

For Belnan, a decent ranged weapon, pearls of power, bag of tricks, scrolls, and the like would be useful. He's mostly a caster, but likes having a few aces up his sleeve should his spells run out.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Belnan should be good to go.

Male Elf Abjuration Wizard 3

Ensu here with the start of my elven wizard. I will try to get details filled in by the weekend.
