Every DD has some good points, and it would be great to see these good points all together. Of course every player likes something more than others, there are a lot of ways to play the game.
I don't see PF2 as the spiritual sucessor, but certanly 4ED has some good things, as well 5ED, etc. I really like the minion/rival/boss design for creatures as an example. To me this is essencial to run a good epic game. It helps to create the encounter you really want.
