AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Smoke surrounding him, Beau looks at the young man with obvious doubt. How could this young thing know anything about making things? He is barely old enough to walk! Nonetheless, Beau starts "Well now, we be looking fer some... help ye would call it?" Being the least diplomatic, it was clear he was out of his element as he tried to talk to the young boy

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Ah yes, no i am still here!

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau grumbles about the lack of more ale, for he had only just started drinking really. One stein may be enough for the elf or humans, but Beau was a growing dwarf! They had, nay, needed a certain amount of ale to function! Next they were going to take his pipe! Under his beard he coughs and says "Best he have some ale. I'm a might still thirsty, and its either ale or a fight." But Beau makes ready to move, going to find the cooper.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau blinks while draining the first of his clear intent to have many ales, and burps. After making sure he wont burp again, he says "Well now, how ye know we even be camping? I could be walking threw and found these vagabonds!" It was a weak attempt to cover, for if the barkeep noticed them, their enemies surely noticed as well. And that was good for no one, not least of all that dragon they rescued.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau waves a hand at Xune, clearly the put-upon member of the group. For surely everyone knew it was best with the Juice from the Gods.
"Well aye. Howe else do ye think I manage to suffer all yer insults and other misbehavings? All dwarves do! Tis the other races that make us surly, and only the sweet, sweet alcohol will release a dwarf from his ill manners ot make us cheerful and pleasant to around." He stated in a voice that made it clear this was true, and no one could question any of the logic in it, for why, or rather, how could you? It made perfect sense to Beau, and so that is all that mattered. He does take out his tin of tobacco, and stuffs a lil bit more into his pipe.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau swaggers in as much as any dwarf can swagger, and while puffing his pipe, gruffly, but in a more polite manner than anyone in the ground has ever heard him grumble " Yer best ale, or yer worst. Really, as long as it is ale. OR mead. OR anything not water and has the juice from the Gods in it." Beau then swings his legs while sitting, much like a overly bearded child

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Blustering about how humans always managed to get sick from the simple of ales and porters, Beau was clearly now out of his league. He only knew what worked for dwarves, and it seemed those did not work with humans. He would keep an eye out on the group however, since this could be a trap.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau grumbles along as the group moves into the town. He had his nice new warhammer with him, placed within easy reach, though both his pipe in his mouth and ale was closer. He notices the crowd gathered, and using that natural dwarf charisma, ask " Well lad, have ye tried poking him? Maybe dunkin him in water? One time me Gran had ta dunk Granfather into the river. He had drank to much the night before aye?"

Beau clearly was unable to think anything outside of a common issue, and seemed a bit confused why this was drawing a crowd.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

I believe som roughly. And an half orc if I'm not mistaken.

Beau frowns through his beard at the thumbs up, having little experience with the gesture. And now with a working smithy, he guessed it perhaps best to work on his weaponsmithing, as from the looks from the group, he might be the only one who knew anything about it. And that was so long ago, and so little worked, it might take him some time to get his skills up, secondary as they were.

" Well, I aint no genuis smithy, but I can bang out a daggers and such. With practice and this forge I might even get halfway decent. But for now I say we take a good long nap, with some good ale, and a smoke, and then start again making this place more livable aye?"

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Lawl! I meant doing the 10% right! I think Beau gets it. I think. The hardest thing now is remembering how to do exp correctly.

But now I am 1634/2000. I can't find anything that says being a dwarf axe for hire changes my exp needs

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

After greasing the wheel with Xune help, Beau muttering while doing so " Never expected a long ears to know anything bout dwarven engineering. Ye aint havle bad" It was clear this was going to be high praise from Beau, as he seemed while not hostile to the elves, he either didn't know much about them, or had bad experiences in the past with them. However, once the airflow was going, he rumbles to the group " We got a door or the hatch. I would say the hatch, seems easiest to retreat from if overwhelmed"

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau grumbles as he places his new hammer back into its place on his hip, before stroking his beard. Surely there was a way to get the forge going again, with the air pump working properly. He never was a smith though, but he knew the basics, as all dwarves did.

" Now, iffin we git it workin, there be a pump system. No idea how they work though." Beau gruffs out, wishing he had some ale in hand and some good food. All these surprises and all on a dry throat!

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

so....480+140+14 correct? So 634/2000

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

UNsure how well he will adept to the warhammer, Beau tries to stand guard on the other side of the oil lit on the ground.

1d10 ⇒ 6

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Shaking his head at the elven clearly not understanding how dwarves work, he mutters " Them long ears. Always tryin to fancy things up." But he seemed to be a bit more perplex at the question of where to go next. If the shrine was cursed, what else would be? Could that explain the fire beetles? He rubs his beard as he thinks this over, before mentioning. " Ye say they had the same stones? Well, best see what is that way nae? We know the bugs probably ate anything in that area, and we know from were we came. So say corridor, then... where else was there after them bugs?"

Beau didn't exactly take command of what was happening, but since none seemed to opposed to letting him direct for the moment, he would start to head towards the corridor, with his shield ready and the new warhammer with him.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Sniffing as Xune makes sure there is no traps, Beau says a word of thanks, one for the shelter the area was to provide for them, and then for the glorious weapon. He promised to use it to bring back the former glory of this outpost. After saying those, he hefts the hammer to test its balance and swing, to find the correct placement for his hands.

" Tis be a fine instructment. I do believe I shall use it to led us through the other areas to help secure them no? Ye all have nae problem with it?" It seems Beau could appreciate some fine things.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Knowing that the attack was by wizards, Beau seems a bit cautious about the warhammer. Replying back to Alyna " Tis true, but how much of that is from the weapon or an ill intent towards a dwarf? And to disecrate a shrine as this. Tis no wonder to use caution." But for all his talk of using caution, Beau does approach the warhammer. Slowly but surely, for wizards are known to be tricky creatures, he carefully makes sure he is ready for anything, keeping an eye out as he tries to reach for the warhammer.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Stifflin a laugh behind his beard, Beau replies " Well now, can't really blame'em. Pointed ears cause most of the problems ye know. All that magic and crap, corrupting yer soul and such. Ah well, fer now, let us go into the shrine. See what we got here." Beau does indeed go in first, but with his shield and sword ready, keeping an eye out for anything unusual or out of place. While not much of a priest, just about every dwarf knew the basics of proper rites of the forge.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

I believe mine is 480/2000? That right? Also, I wanna explore that shrine really.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Initiative: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Hey, Ill get it one day! Perhaps! Lawl.

Swinging at them bugs.: 20 - 1d20 - 3 ⇒ 20 - (16) - 3 = 1
Smashing bug brains: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

I think im doing my attack right this time, looking back at my old post that seemed correct. It is a change from current methods, but still fun!

Beau tries to swing and hit one of the bugs, a bit angered over them moving into a lost outpost. This place deserved a better home than that!

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Int: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Trying to hit: 20 - 1d20 ⇒ 20 - (9) = 11
Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7
Swinging at the bugs, Beau tries to take them out hard.
" Damn pest! Begon ye!

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau grumbles under his breath " Ah shit, here we go again."
Drawing his sword forth, Beau seems to be upset from his musing over this lost outpost.

1d10 ⇒ 8

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau puzzles over the hatch, as it shouldn't have been left open in the first place unless the previous inhabitants had to leave in a hurry. This led him to wonder out loud " We may be treading on ghost aye? These halls have no reason to sit empty yet do."

Look for history: 1d100 ⇒ 45

I'm trying to see if there are any signs of a past struggle.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau grunts and then looks about after they view the left path somewhat. He lights up his pipe, and after a few puffs notes he just felt something off about this place. The open metal hatch seemed odd, but more so the stone guardians. Those weren't always just block of stone, and he felt they had missed something important. It was just to easy if this was a dwarven outpost.

Talking with his pipe in mouth still he says " Something just ain't clicking ere. We not faced the first trap really."

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau grunts when he finds the catch. This seemed a very dwarven device to his mind, but something about everything seemed off. He was still not aware of any clans in this area recently, and this camp spoke of recent activity. He voiced to the others " We may encounter something we do no want. I hear tells of dark elven kin, and of stranger beast. Look, see this catch? This speaks to a dwarf made, but I no membering one from this area." He has put his pipe out so the glow did not affect his eyesight, but he checked the device for traps, before asking Xune to check, as she seemed the most likely to understand.

Check for traps: 1d100 ⇒ 67

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau tries to recall if he knows of any dwarven clans in the area, for this seemed like an odd place to have one. It served to him as a better outpost for a military or a staging ground.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Wisdom check: 1d20 ⇒ 5

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau frowns slightly, and while mentioning none of his suspicions to the group, keeps a very close eye on the rest of the surroundings, for if someone else built it, that someone may still be there

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Gruffly he replies " Ye would be mad to if yer smoke keeps getting cut off. Ever got between a mountaineer and his ale? KNow how he be able ta take yer head? Same thing. Us proper hill dwarves like our smoke." He isn't really sure how to teach someone dwarven as Sid asks him. He rubs his beard as they keep moving before saying " Ye just call their bluff. Ifin that not work, ye smash kneecaps to brains. Simple ye?"

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Don't get between a dwarf an his pipe.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau harramphs and tries to get his pipe going good again, grumbling under his breath about just how hard it is to get a good embering while moving. After a few attempts though he gets it, and puffs merrily on his pipe as they continue to travel

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau shouts out in Dwarven

Spoiler:
" I jest put me smoke on! IF ye inconsiderate bastar's don;t start ta steppin, I'mma smash yer kneecaps to yer brains!
raising his voice and waving his sword around to try to scare them off at first.

I'm trying to imtimidate. What do I roll?

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Already smoking again, Beau assist in whatever was the best way to help out, talking with the half-orc, in a general manner, as both had experience fighting for causes other than their own.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Bea frowns at the idea the Harpers did this. He offers " But why would they let innocent people die over an empty bag? I feel this was a trap te Zhents set up to detect how hard it would be to supply in Harper terrority." He just could not figure out someone wasting resources they did not have to.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau grumbles and gruffs, but being a fair enough of a dwarven sort he understood when a battle lost was done you stopped the fighting. He took out his pipe and started to get him another good and long pipe session going, and before long he had some ale available for the group, though none was sure where he got it from. He interjects about the goods and her position with the Zhents. " Ifin yer a sellsword type of gal, yer not really gonna know to much are ye, after the destination and trouble to watch fer. So while my friends have great questions, Im curious to the destination ye where to stop at, the stops yed make along the way, and the trouble ye are to look out fer. Also, bad business losing the cargo like this eh? So perhaps ye would like ta continue with us fer a spell. Most yer guys seemed like spineless cowards anyways." he offers while puffing on his pipe, the thick smoke surrounding him like a dragon's beard.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Ifin we can make tobacca an ale, it be good. We got us a tavern to found.

Beau's seal of approval.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau seems unhappy with the two failed swipes, and growls through his beard as he takes more swings at the half-orc

IF i am correct this round I get two attacks right? IS that how the 3/2 thing works? if not ignore the second attack

Init: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
To hit: 20 - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ 20 - (10) - 1 = 9
damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5

Init for the second attack: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
To hit: 20 - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ 20 - (13) - 1 = 6
damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 2 = 8

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Does AoO work in 2nd where it doesnt take your main action? If not Imma swing every AoO I get! No retreat, no surrender! WE shall take back the mountain home!

Spitting out a dwarven curse, Beau takes the hit like a true dwarven warrior, by making him only angrier. He swings at the fleely oppenent, his anger at the lost fight matched only by his anger at getting hit!

Init! I think im doing this right!: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
To hit: 20 - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ 20 - (13) - 1 = 6
if hit on fleeing Mook: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 2 = 4

After the swing at the fleeing one, Beau taking no care if it hit or not, swings at the half orc, snarling [b]" YER FATHER WAS A OR!"[b]

Init again since I swing again?: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
To hit: 20 - 1d20 - 1 ⇒ 20 - (7) - 1 = 12
Damage to that pesky horc: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2) + 2 = 6

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

sorry about the delay y'all, sometimes my work schedule isnt the easiest to post on. im still here, sorry yall had to wait

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

As Sid starts the swinging, Beau gets to work. He starts singing some song about some misty mountains

I think this is right? +2 from my strenght then a flanking bonus if I read it right

Mainhand: 20 - 1d20 - 4 ⇒ 20 - (1) - 4 = 15
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

I find nothing crit-ical wrong here with these suggestions

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

That works, ill move to update the sheet to reflect it

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

If we are not going to make it on the same time I would like to delay our group attack until we can all hit someone. For me, sid and Davin atleast.

Beau calls out to those approaching, or rather more in a loud voice to hsi companions " Ye know what I did the last time I saw people coming at me? I split them so hard their ma's forehead hurt."

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

I think me and the other two man sorta move up together, like a solid wall.

Beau walks steadily towards the cart, faking disinterest

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau will move with the assignment once they make their attack charge. He seems strangely smokeless and drinkless as they make ready

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Put me in the corner closest to the enemies, since well, fighter and all ya know.

Beau grumbles back in Dwarven to Alyna, but was happy enough to do so. " Well, they just be humans, so I figured they'd be pretty easy to spot, the ones so far have been."

Of course once finding the fire still warm and other signs, Beau sighs heavily and while he does not douse his pipe, its clear he takes a bit more caution, and has his sword at the ready. However, upon seeing the half-orc he spits on the ground and looks ready to charge.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beau coughs and waves a hand, trying to gather his thoughts it seems. " We goin' ta crack their skulls, and I guess feed them to the dragon here. Good way to get rid of them. Rightly the most I got was we going to kill some humans, help some humans, and hopefully kill more humans. Tis all I really heard."

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Beauregarde coughs softly as he empties his pipe out, scraping the soot with a small tool. He then claps Xune on the shoulder, saying " Finally! A challenge for adventurers such as ourselves?! When do we leave? Need to get a bit more tobacco first but then I be ready. First light or first ale we move out?" He wasn't a good rider so he knew they werent going to ask him to ride, so he figured getting close to the ambush spot would be smart.

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

Since I can't find any bonus I have imma just straight d20
Appraisal: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Beau nearly chokes when on his ale, dropping the emerald he was looking at on the table in the process. He looks as if Xune had just told him to murder a priest of a dwarven temple, in front of the gathered masses. " Ye can not be serious! How do you expect me to sneak about, let alone ride them giant beast! I would break your neck as I fell from such a height!" He was over stating it, but it was clear he wasn't sure he would be good for sneaking around

AC 5 H/P 13 Axe for Hire Dwarf

What role is needed for checking the items? just a general d20?
