Not wanting to be left out of the fun, Baywulf charges in with his greatblade at the ready. Heavy Melee Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Slicing into the mauler, he lashes out with his survival knife too. With the beasts of Sparr, any damage was good damage. Knife Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 16
"We must fight! To take down a glacial mauler...gods, what a battle that would be." A second voice comes across the comms, from the same channel as Baywulf, "Listen not to this hot-headed warrior son. Glory can only be found in death if one's goal is met." He grumbles, "Hmph, Leita knows well what I do not, at times. Perhaps evasion is a better tactic than forthright assault."
God-Bearer was dinged up, and bad. The treeline kept the worst of the blizzard at bay, and Baywulf's Sparri nano-weave parka kept the rest of the cold away. He sets to work on repairing, patching the holes in it's plating and welding the gashes left by the ice vultures. Spending 2 repair to get back up to full.
Baywulf charges forward. Unable to get into melee range, he fires at the already wounded ice vulture with his assault rifle. Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 8
He then fires off a shot with his pistol, hoping to get some more damage in on the beast. Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Baywulf smiles when he sees God-Bearer. It looks quite a bit like him, covered in the same stylized runic circuit patterns, and survival gear of all types is strapped onto it. Mounting his mech is like second nature, and the soft, synthetic voice of Leita the Seeker echoes in his head as the neural links connect to the small silver neuro-studs on his forehead. "The Thunder-Walker returns. What glories will we seek now?" Baywulf chuckles and replies quietly, not broadcasting over his comm link, "We venture to the Fjallandir Mountains to save a team that has met an unknown fate."
Baywulf’s Sparri accent is far thicker as he speaks. Indeed, the man looks like he’s stepped straight out of some holovid about the life of the people of Sparr for an effete urbanite in the core worlds. Long hair flows down his back and intricate tattoos that blur the line between runes and circutry cover his skin. ”My clan’s lands were far from the Fjallandir Mountains. What beasts are said to dwell there? Beyond that, if it was not the children of the wilds or the teeth of the angry storms that has rendered Argent lost, have you any ideas who or what it could be?”
Not only am I interested, I've got a Sparri character already built! Baywulf "Thunder Walker" Fjell-Skalva is a native of Sparr, and a initiate to the mysteries of the techno-shamanic warrior class of the Sparri. He's got a mixture of combat and tech skills, along with the NHP Specialist background. His NHP is a fragment of his clan's god named Leita the Seeker, and is held within his mech, God-Bearer. God-Bearer is built for melee combat with a spear but can also hold it's own at range or in a skirmish with an assault rifle and a pistol/tactical knife. His background will take a little retooling, but it's mostly good to go.
Baywulf gulps down his cup. Since leaving Sparr, he's gotten a taste for the stuff. He skims through the data they've been given before saying to Alphons, "With the spirits of the machine, it is best to tread lightly, especially for one's well-seated in their power. I suppose, though, we are here to destroy the attackers, not commune with the powers that be. It matters little who they are, we will grind them into the dust and stand victorious over their remains."
Baywulf pulls himself out of his pod, grunting at the rapid transition. The cold didn't bother him much, but a defrosting brain never felt good. He exhales heavily before looking at the captain and saying in a deep voice, thick with the clipped accent of the Sparri, "Yes. Coffee. As soon as possible." [ooc]I'm thinking Baywulf speaks with an accent a bit between Russian and Scandinavian.[/b]
Baywulf's not much of a leader either. I'm inclined towards egalitarian groups, but maybe having some suit from corporate as an indirect leader could work? Something like a middle manager who just needs the boxes on his report checked. His NHP is named Leita the Seeker, a fragment of the NHP that serves as his clan's god. Leita serves to cool Baywulf's temper, to serve as a steady hand in lieu of one of the clan elders being there to calm him down. |
