I must admit, I'm not the best at creating a world. I'm fantastic at running a fight, but I really lack the ability to guide my players in a world that I've built.

I've set my game in the Avatar world, long before the creation of the four nations. The players are part of a large group of people that have been sent to the east (Fire Nation) to discover new lands.

The players have a small settlement of all kinds of benders and non-benders, and I have done everything in my power to get them to want to protect it. I've sent animals after them, had someone steal away people for a secret malitia, had spirits attack, and most recently, had a bloodbender murder a few people. I've done all of this, yet none of my players has tried to build a malitia, a protective wall, become any kind of government official... nothing they could be doing to protect their town.

My question is this... How can I get them to want to put more effort into worldbuilding?

No templates. Just increasing the size via the Monster Advancement charts.

Hello all! I was putting my party up against a Shambling Mound, and it seems more fitting for the situation for it to be Huge size. I make all the adjustments and whatnot, but I get to CR, and I can't find any information on what changing size does to it. So, in summary, making my creature bigger, does the CR change at all?

Thanks guys! These are perfect and I didn't even realize that Robots and Androids had been stated out.

Hello all.

I've started up a campaign with my group and this world is a purely "Medieval" type (i.e. very basic technology). This world is a limited map, but I plan on opening it up later on as the campaign grows, but I want this setting to be a part of a post-apocalyptic world (our Earth).

I have recently exposed a piece of ancient history that is sticking up out of the desert (remember the Library in Avatar, the Last Airbender?). This structure is a skyscraper that is left over from the world before. So, my question is this. Is there any type of monster/construct that would belong in a more futuristic setting, but would last years and years that my PC's would be able to fight?

I've looked at some constructs, but nothing really stood out to me as "non-magical" or "futuristic".
