Baru grins and walks over as well. "Wait, wait now...we're taking apart an animal? We must do this carefully, and we can actually make use of quite a lot of this thing, without wasting so much." He slowly pulls out a good sized, curved knife and begins to sharpen it, crouching down and looking at the animal's wounds, preparing to begin the work. "Used to be part of a butchering family, so let's see if all the old skills are still there." Profession (butcher): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Draconic and Local Common:
"They...they are the worst sort. They slaughtered my entire party. When next I see the ones I was following...they will die." Baru's eyes harden as he speaks slowly, stopping halfway through speaking. He grits his teeth and almost has to spit the words out.

Ok, so if he's Thumper, who is Flower, and who is Bambi? Abyssal and Draconic:
"My name is Baru, and I...deal with problems with alchemy and a bit of intelligence." The tiefling seems to bounce slightly on his feet, nodding in response to Palomia's response about the hobgoblin not being the same as the locals, relaxing slightly, but still not trusting him. Trying to get an idea of all of these creatures, he searches his knowledge of strange beings he's studied. Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Baru just walks over to the other tiefling and shakes his head, responding to her question as best he can. Abyssal:
"Some kind of local dialect, I'm guessing. If the way they're acting is accurate, then they're familiar with each other and are...catching up. This place is just plain strange. I'll be glad to be away from here." It is then that Baru notices Goragg and scowls, looking to the group he came with. Draconic:
"Someone tell me that's not a hob...Tell me I am hallucinating." His hand twitches in the direction of his weapons, although whether it's a crossbow or a rapier, that part is unsure.
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
Abyssal:
"I'm not from this Hectate. I'm not some mad man to have come here before, but I know OF it. Like I said, it's a legend. Somewhere that's really not supposed to exist like it does. As far as language? It's the only one they seem to understand. They don't speak any of the local tongues. The fact that they're the only ones affected suggests that, really, it's something to do with this area, because, from the way you're acting, your...group hasn't done this before either." The tiefling just shakes his head and looks to Relas, shrugging his shoulders before looking back to the other tiefling. Abyssal: "I've never seen the crystals before, but apparently these...people must have them for some reason. And standing there with a loaded weapon isn't going to make them trust you or us any more. If this place is as strange as the stories say...well, we may not want to press our luck with violence here."
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
Good thing I looked here. Checking in and updating shortly! Infernal:
"Calm down and put the weapon down, woman. This place is old and storied, and I really don't have time to explain all I know. Suffice it to say, this is where fables and legends happen. Something is apparently...keeping track of both groups, assuming that's the reason the only ones unconscious are the ones with crystals in their heads? Baru pats his weapon and looks to his new cat friend. Draconic:
"She thinks we caused this. Stay calm." Abyssal: "Besides, seeing as we're all armed, and we don't have weapons drawn, it makes no sense that we'd be trying to hurt them. Now put that thing away before everyone wakes back up, and all we end up with is bloodshed and no answers."

"A dragon would be very amusing. Then we could ride it instead of walking! A brilliant idea!" the tiefling laughs. "Oh, but what would a dragon do here? They'd be far too big, really. At least I'd imagine so. Unless it was one of those tiny ones, and then that's not really much of a dragon. Just an overgrown swamp specimen really."
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
Draconic & Terran:
"This place is sort of a...mythical one. This is the stuff of stories, myths, legends. People threaten to leave their kids here if they're bad. And you...people just showed up here...Something very strange is going on." The tiefling then looks to the summoned feline, really looking at him for several moments, before asking fairly bluntly. Not mean, just very curious.
Draconic: "And..you are?"
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
Well, work took longer than I thought. Baru tilts his head slowly, as he watches them pass the empty boat. Terran & Draconic:
"Now that's just odd...why put a dolphin's head on a boat?..." It's when they reach the platform, their "destination", that he becomes visibly concerned. Terran & Draconic: "...Please tell me that you've never seen this pillar before..."
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
The tiefling just chuckles, seeing the spinning compass. Yet another complication in a world growing stranger by the moment. Oh the things his fellows would say if they saw "people" with crystals in their heads. Baru looks on with interest at the strangeness of the ritual, having not seen its like before and visibly making mental notes. Terran and Draconic: "She is performing some...process or ritual, I'm assuming?"
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
Local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 Draconic & Terran:
"I speak the local dialect, but if what you were speaking earlier is your..."Common tongue," then no, I do not speak it. Now, considering that this was a battlefield, it's likely safe to assume we're in a somewhat stable hectate, meaning we're near a stable one. But...I don't recognize which one, which likely means we're trespassers. Bad thing in these parts. If it's a hunting ground, then there should be a fortress or some such thing in the center and a road leading here that proves it." He pauses again and taps his chin. Draconic & Terran: "But it is harvest time, so that does make us more likely to find people a bit...more agreeable to an influx of strangers."
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
Draconic & Terran:
"Each area of this place is a Hectate. You..." he searches for the word, for a moment. "People, must have certainly come from Center Hectate. There's nothing there but just a platform, so nobody else lives there. But...if what you say is true, then that makes things very different..." The tiefling stands and begins to pace back and forth, unhooking his crossbow and putting it across his arm, flicking the bowstring as his tongue plays behind his lips. He then taps the crossbow against his boot, knocking dirt and grime off of both, he slowly approaches the group. Once up to them, he sighs. Draconic and Terran: "I was part of a hunting party. There were about the same number of us as there are you now. Strike teams don't do well in battles of attrition though. I lost the last one after a makeshift raft ride through the sea from the Center Hectate...There was a black wall, and after going through it, I ended up here. You're the first humanoid life I've seen in quite awhile."
Male Tiefling Investigator 4
Seeing the woman respond, he shakes his head in disbelief.
Draconic:
"You've never heard of hobs? You know, hobgoblins? Big ugly things that look like goblins, only bigger and less green?" Well, you all certainly don't look the part of them...Especially with those weird crystals in your heads...What Hectate are you from?" He then looks to the man who speaks, lowering his crossbow, but keeping it at the ready and coming fully out of his hiding spot, showing a couple of weapons at his hip and a battle worn chain shirt covered mostly by a mud stained cloak.
Terran:
"Strangers, huh? Newcomers? You come from the Center Hectate, I bet? Nothing is quite so barren after spending time there." After responding to each, he gives them his name, in both languages. Draconic and Terran: "My name is Baru."
