Coresc's eyes opened as she attempted to turn her head. It was here that Romycas notices that she is not in the tree of her own accord as none of the others in the trees are either. She is tied there with vines around her arms, legs and neck and as the vines are tinged in browns and green they are hardly seen. She almost chokes when she looks at him then groggily speaks with a dry, hoarse voice filled with pain, "Romy? I lost you ..." The strange woman remembered when they had gone separate ways not because of wanting to but because of them getting lost while not together. It seemed from the look on her face that she blamed herself for this mistake.
The group hurries on out towards the Gomoktooth territory to find Mittens' balloon and to release the slaves from their confinements. Along the way is fairly peaceful mostly because Leoian has noticed any threats and proceeded to gainfully direct everyone away from these problems. They slow down and stop at the edge of the fields in which the beings have dedicated as their own and can see that it is a fairly large camp containing a primitive form of village. There are adult and young Gomoktooth there but as it is not even early morning yet they are mostly sleeping. Some sit about looking as if they are sentries but not quite. The most disturbing part of camp are the animals which have taken up sleeping around the beings there. They are ugly, almost dog-like creatures but their resemblance to dogs is only due to their attitudes. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g130/Fern-lynn/tagac3_zps5d832a26.jpg Not to mention that at every 2-5 camping sections there is at least one of these cook pits: There are barred caves but the bars are mostly tree parts and some people tied up in trees. Romycas catches sight of one of the trees holding up a being with sandy brown ears and hair but he'd not seen this one for a long while.
The half-orc child is much smaller than Leoian and seems to be little more than three years old but walks, even on the one leg while dragging the other with a strength that belies her size. She ducks her head as she gets near Leo and looks up at the others with some fear but also confidence. She sits before Leoian and winces as she looks at her leg, "Bad tagac bites." The girl fumbles out and pouts, her big nose wiggling in distaste as she sniffs.
The little girl cried but looked up with a trembling lip over her small fang, eyes wide and scared. She sniffled and nodded then stuck her face against his chest as she held onto him. As Romycas continued to move away from the camp, further and further from the site, it started to darken out. They must have come miles away from the camp as they had left in the morning. The little girl had fallen asleep trying not to cry too hard. She didn't want to be heard and also wanted to prove she was brave but it was very difficult. Finally they came upon a semi open patch of ground where a strange circle of huts sat and Romycas could hear people talking.
A couple of Gomoktooth natives walk about towards the scene of their "pets" dealing with Romycas and the others then start yelling at the animals which either pelt away or whimper with their tails between their legs. The one which had the child cries out in pain as it is attacked, blood coming from it's lips as it releases the little girl who grabs onto Romycas's arm crying. "Get my baby away!" The woman yells again as more Gomoktooth tribes people come into view. Three Gomoktooth move quickly towards the cage to close it up and another two run towards Romycas. "Please take my girl to safety!" The woman yells as she is thrown back into the cell, her head hitting the floor with a crack. The dwarf runs to her side checking her out. One of the Gomoktooth reaches down trying to grab the creation and child. There is more yelling as others come that way. ----------------- Little creatures go tumbling away from Varga and Belzac but the couple near Charlene and Bryn are too far away. They roll head over heals with loud yelps of shock, fear and confusion then scatter like feathers tossed to the wind. As Charlene hands the rabbit eared critter some hair it grabs the offering quickly, yips a clear chiming sound then takes off up a tree to hide in a hole with it's treasure. Bryn's little "friend" reaches out with a shaky hand like paw and touches the hair while keeping an eye on the man who is tempting it with his hair. Finally it grabs the hair and nips a few inches of it off and clutches it to it's chest then yabbers some squeaks and squeals while wiggling about trying to get free.
The mother of the half orc yells in orcish making the child stop and look back towards the construct trying to help. The woman points and yells, "Please! Get my child out of here!" She yells at him as she hits one of the monsters with a stick. The dwarf takes another stick and hits back another animal as a couple of others come closer. The Gomoktooth are starting to stir making time become less of a commodity. ----------- The bunny eared beasts around Belzac back off a bit and squeal in interest but seem unsure on what to do. They start trying to move around him looking for a way to get at him. Bryn's critter starts squirming and screaming in fear. Five of the little creatures rush after Varga as he gets out of the tree. The beast after Charlene hops back and looks scared but seems to really want her hair.
One of the little creatures moves slowly up to Varga, testing it's ground but when Varga gives no threatening movements it sniffs his hair. There is chattering as it sniffs again then puts it's forepaws on his head. Before Varga even blinks the little animal pulls some hair out of his scalp and squeals in glea as the other jumps over and grabs some as well. Within moments there are more of the little beasts rushing towards Varga and some are hopping, jumping and charging towards the others. One creature gets to Bryn and rushes up a pole to try to get to his hair while another jumps onto Charlene's back for hers. Finwa squeals as one pounces onto her shoulder but it tries to go for Leo's hair. Three circle in on Belzac.
The child runs towards her mother, the most important place in the world to her at any given time as it was her mother who had cared for her all her life. She jumps into the cave before the creature that is running towards the entrance. The creature ahead of Romycas rolls out of the way just before getting to the cave. The dwarf grabs the mother and child by the hands and runs with them in tow towards the woods, two creatures following as other creatures run off into the woods as well. ------ The little creature moves towards Bryn then grabs the bowl, shooting up the nearest pole again but most of the food drops out of the bowl as it does not know how to hold it. The bowl clatters to the ground and the little thing makes noises as if it is swearing. The group can hear another animal taking a branch from a nearby tree and scuttling up a big tree. If anyone looks they can see another of these little creatures bringing a branch with brown leaves into a hole in the tree as if it's building a nest. Sticks and twigs ends are sticking outside the hole.
As the group eats they can hear shuffling about in the brush then a little head pokes down from the canopy Finwa had created. It looks about then squeaks and the group can hear little feet scurrying about the top of the canopy. The head returns on the other side and now can be seen easier as it sniffs out the people. It seems like a small monkey with small rabbit like ears and huge eyes. It yips then moves back to the top of the canopy once more. ------ The creature is thrown back from Romycas but it keeps it's grip on the child who is thrown limply about from the impact. She screams then cries, her blood dripping down the creature's jaw. Romycas can now see that the jaw locks like an English bull terrier. Four more of the animals come up behind Romycas as the one upon the ground gets up and glares at him while walking towards the cave. The child is still crying and the intent is there that if he does not return the child would lose it's arm. The child's mother is in the cave, screaming and crying for her child while a few of the Gomoktooth stand around laughing at the scene, allowing their pets to do the work.
As Romycas dashed out the door the elven man and half-orc child followed but the mother just screamed for her child to come back and the dwarf stood back and snorted as the elf screeched before gurgling with a crunching sound took away the rest of the humanoid's noises. The child yelped and two large creatures stood in Romycas's way. Another of the large monstrosities moved forward, jaws gently holding the child's arm. It glares at the tall artificial being while moving the child towards the cage. As it gets closer to it the child cries as the beast bites a bit, letting blood drip down the arm. If Romycas does not move towards the cell then it bites a bit more but if Romycas does move back it releases it's grip on the child but does not let her go. I was trying to get a good picture for this but I've been fighting with my Daz since they set up an installer (which screwed up my stuff) so I'll have to show you a stock image of the creature. Hopefully I'll get Daz back up and running soon.
The caravan master shakes his head then turns, ignoring the strange group of people and gets his people headed out leaving the next group to go through and out into the wilderness. It is soon the the Deathmatchers and party get to the doors and are allowed out into the pleasantness of the woods. It is strange how the north side of the town is much more calming than the south but by what everyone can see there is not much land for farming which must have been the reason that people actually braved the dark creatures. How else were they to gain the food required to keep a city running? The day goes by easily enough until the road the group needs to travel turns into a small trail through the woods.
Don't feel so bad Treppa. I probably did not explain too well on what exactly to do. STR: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6) = 14
Redistribute up to three points between characteristics. In this case if you take 1 STR point away then STR becomes 13 which you can theoretically put onto INT to make it 10. This is a point by point basis, 1 to 1. The 86 points and that scale are completely different. This was somewhere in either the BRP or earlier Chaosium Inc. superhero games. I am not sure exactly where it is from because I had typed it out for a quick guide years ago. That rule is: You add all of the rolled characteristics, divide it by 8 and use that number for extra characteristic points. 14
The table below was for how to spend the points. So if you wanted another point on STR it would cost you 3 of the 11 leaving you with 8. Please inform me if I was understandable this time. Sorry for confusions.
The group gets through the town with no problems as Finwa decided to take to the back roads to make everything easier on Leo and to make sure that Turble was not tempted by anything in the market. He probably would be just fine while munching on the big steak bone she saw Hugh give him but one could never know when a person is still going through having been starved. He could not be blamed for the interest but if he did anything then they would have to postpone their trip longer and no one wanted that. As the group reaches the northern exit they can see a problem up ahead where people have stopped and are watching something going on. As they get closer they can see a man gesticulating and yelling. "There is NO SUCH THING as a 'safari'. I don't even know what the green havens a safari is! This is a caravan to Tory now either pay the toll or get lost. I don't care if someone paid your toll on a trip but this isn't it." --------- As Romycas speaks to the people at the back of their cell he notices a shadow crossing past the bars but as it slips past he does not turn his head fast enough to see what it was. Whatever it was must be pretty large though and from the sounds of it, quite hungry. Was it a dog? Could these creatures have dogs or wolves patrolling the area to make sure their prey do not get loose? It was possible. Three of the people stay put while the smallest, a tiny girl child, moves forward but her human mother pulls her back and holds her. The child is a half-orc and seems quite determined to leave her mother's hold. A dwarven man catches the child's attention with a stick and the last person, an elf sits back with a sneer on his face. "You are the least of our worries." The elf grumbles then stares out past the construct, "If you're in here they must think you are edible too."
If there are any questions, agreements, disagreements or discussion upon whether or not we really want to do this then please comment in here. I know that Meows prefers the free form role playing (and has no idea how this would work with Mittens but I have ideas) but I want to know what everyone feels about this. Do you like the idea of having the characters having character sheets or not? Dwarf Characteristic Rolls: Str - 4d6
Mov:6 Halfling Characteristic Rolls: Str - 2d6
Mov:6 Gnoll - I am using the Werewolf Characteristic Rolls for the Gnoll Str - 6d6
Mov:12 Our Helmetcat will be considerably different for Characteristic Rolls: Str - 2d6
Mov: 12 Everyone: 3 points can be adjusted. Next: From your rolls it comes up to 86 added together. Divided by 8 = 10.75 so you have 11 points to use to increase you characteristics. The costs are: • Str costs 3 for 1 character points
The maximum allowance is 21 points per characteristic. I tried to put in the SIZ chart and it did not work properly so the SIZ CHART is right here.
Treppa - I've been going over the full rules and found my paperwork for character creation so we can play with this if you like. I'm still not sure if we will definitely do this (it would still mostly be free form if people like the idea of some base on characters etc) but we can play a bit either way. Since Charlene is human I did not say anything about the rolls for characteristics that are in the base player's guide, or whatever it's called. I forgot. Anyway, those are the roll sets for humans. You can take 3 points and rearrange them with what you already have to set up your basic characteristics. For instance you can take a point from your size and put it on your intelligence and another point from strength to con or 2 from size to dexterity, whatever you like as long as it is only 3 points moved. Next: From your rolls it comes up to 86 added together. Divided by 8 = 10.75 so you have 11 points to use to increase you characteristics. The costs are: • Str costs 3 for 1 character points
The maximum allowance is 21 points per characteristic.
The group gets to Hugh's for supper and everything goes well as the ones who love to cook do so and Hugh talks about the town and some of the antics of people there. He has quite a few fun tales and even tells a few of his own adventures, how he met his wife and that they had two children, a boy and a girl. The boy, Elcan had gone away to another town to train to be a soldier and once he was ready he would return to Fair Raven to work there and help his father out. His daughter, Sylia, had been an excellent swords woman but was more interested in working the farm. Sylia and her mother had been taken from him two years before by the shadow creatures. He then told of more fun things about a few more people but it was starting to get late so he ushered everyone to rooms to sleep so everyone would be ready in the morning. In the morning he gave the group an extra set of clothes each which had been owned by his wife or daughter at some point or by himself that he could no longer wear. "Na y'all member ta be careful an come back aright." Next thing everyone knows is that you are at the gates almost ready to go and waiting to leave the town and get the balloon. ------ Romycas wakes up beaten down and looking ragged from his treatment at the hands of the Gomoktooth tribe. So far he cannot see too far as his vision is blurry but it does not seem that the residents are too interested in him but notices that he is caged with three other people who are keeping as far back from the wooden bars in the cave that is their current home. There are furs on the ground and the four could move about but there are four guards in front of their hovel.
The free system is here: Basic Roleplaying Quickstart PDF and is the basics to the system. If anyone has a character who is not human then we can work out what to do with the stats and such together.
I am debating on whether or not to set up the characters using a gaming system. The one I've been considering is the Basic Role Playing system by Chaosium. If we do this then I would like to start with characteristics and go from there, hopefully being able to work one on one to get the rest of the characters fleshed out since some may have abilities we don't want revealed as of yet. Does this sound like a good idea to everyone or should we stick with how we are going now?
Belzac - Your opponent is on the ground struggling to get out from under you and seems surprised that you were so fast. Bryn - The man who attacked you is almost hit by a thrown chair and backs up, looking around for whoever threw the sitting unit. Charlene and Turble - This man backs up as Charlene draws her sword and puts up his hands, "Whaaa? Ma'am, ma'am no! Ya got it all wrong. You don't need no sword. I was just playing and hinting tha's all" He trips trying to avoid Turble and falls beside Leoian. "THAT'S QUITE ENOUGH!!" The barkeep screams into the room while slamming what looks to be a double thick bat onto a table, breaking the table in half to punctuate his action, "You three..." He points the bat at each of the group';s assailants, "Out for a week and yer payin' fer da damages! The rest a ya, Belzac and whoever you newcomers are ... if yer can get the instruments and play for a week then I will pay the rest of the fee. It has to be within 5 days though cause I've got specials comin' da next night for this. Tis new an' ah got people who's interested. Now scoot. The rest a you lot get back to yer whatever yer doin'."
The man Belzac hits with the bottle yells, his hands going to his head as he leans down but then he looks across at the smaller man with a glare just as the dwarf tackles him. When Bryn threatens the man who almost hit Finwa and Leoian he turns to the handsome musician and snarls, "Who you think you are ta tell me whatnot?" He yells as he swings a fist at the dark haired man. The third mouthy man puts a hand on Charlene's shoulder and yaps off to her, "Little lady you don't want a little feller like that with ya! I can give you a good time and it won't take no harp to get to yer heart, I can tell yer that."
The owner looks to Bryn, "If you can..." As soon as he starts he is cut off by one of his customers. "Ah geetar?" The big, mouthy man says while getting out of his chair, putting a hand on Belzac's shoulder and gives him a shove, "Ain't that a relic? Where ya get somethin' like dat from? They's not been 'round since de ages." Another man yells, "He musta found it in his dwarf garden wif dere mushrooms!" "Ya mean it ain't no harp? C'mon it gotta be a harp." He laughs loudly.
"Wha? You still want me to believe that?" The man points at the dwarf and is about to lambaste him again then looks at Bryn with a glare then snorts, "This lil pissant promised a week of entertainment for my bar and now can't deliver. He says the Gomoktooth got his instruments and scared off his crew. Ha! A crew of dwarves being scared off by flying monkeys!" "Aye them that's got wings from de ears playin' flutes!" Yells the rowdy man who'd been teasing the dwarf, "What else ye got? A harp? If it ain't no blow hard thing then it has ta be a harp!"
Sorry about this Bryn but part of your last line is being hijacked due to DM purposes ;) Soon the group arrives back on Allayn's Avenue at the corner of Romp Street. Everyone can see Hugh's house, the elegant but practical building before them, close enough to hit with an arrow. "Eh! You acshully think you can get away with this here?" Comes a loud voice from the bar on the corner. This building is unusual for the time style as it looks like some kind of brick garage with large metal doors. There are three of these large metal doors along the street side of the building and one regular door. One metal door is open, slung all the way up into the building and allowing customers to be out on the patio in the beautiful sunshine of early afternoon. There are canopies connected to the building to give shade to the guests. One can see the tables inside and out with many patrons enjoying a late lunch, early supper or already onto getting rowdy with mead and ale. "Don't you be telling me that you can't play!" Comes the voice from inside the building. The group can see a large human who looks more like one who should be running a blacksmith shop but whoever he is talking to is in the dark, "Gomoktooth took your instruments and run out your ... what you call it ... band? You promised to play this week to keep the rowdies happy. Where'd you come up with this fool's idea? Gomoktooth my arse. I bet you haven't an idea of this stuff. Pffh. More than one person playing an instrument. Now pay me back the money I paid. Half up front my arse. No delivery no pay!" A man laughs from the side, "Ayuh! Tryin' ta say flyin' gorillas took yer flute."
The mayor sighs, "Then you need to take this route here." She points out a route and lines it in black then takes some paperwork out of the side table beside her, "That is the safest way to get there. Here are the notes from the rangers who found it. Thankfully it is up north because there are less shadow creatures up that way. They don't like the north it seems." Datarila had been smiling at Leo then suddenly waves at him and disappears as the door opens and a man in bronze armor comes into the room then stands at attention. He holds some papers in one hand and a trident in the other. "I am afraid that my next appointment has shown up and I have no more time to spare." The mayor says while standing, "Please take these notes and the map for your journey as well as the pack of travel foods and accessories left at the door. I look forward to seeing all of you again, soon."
The mayor sits back and Datarila flies off then comes back with a map of the area. She gives it to the mayor and she opens it on a table, "Here is a map of the area." She takes a feather pen and puts two marks on it, "This is Fair Raven and this is the Gomoktooth encampment. That is where the balloon is. Are you sure you really need this balloon so much, Mittens? We have not found a way to get to it as of yet and it is dangerous."
The mayor listens to Leo and Charlene then shakes her head, "A verpien is one or more males who are a woman's defender. If you choose a blade as one as well then that is not my concern. This is not a case of trying to find a mate for Ms. Oftenseen, Leoian. My interest is to make sure to have many avenues settled here and now. Turble requires either a home or people to be with as their kind are not well liked in many cultures. If he travels with those who would accept him then he has a better chance to have a good life." She looks directly at Charlene, "He also knows more about this area then you do making his help of importance and the more men you have in your group will equal less chance of the shadows trying to attack you." Datarila flaps her wings, pointing at the food and the mayor grins, "Datarila reminds me that there is food at the counters beside us here which has been brought in under those platters. Please partake of this food as we speak. And as to your question, Leoian, she says that it is true that she is shy but it is also easier for regular humans to speak with me without her fluttering about. Some are uneasy around the pixie breeds."
Datarila smiles at Leoian the puts a hand over her mouth to stop the giggles even though the group could not hear a sound from her. "The reason she cannot speak to others is not due to being shy. It is because of her race. They can only speak to their own kind or to a person they choose to be a companion to. She helps me with my work and she gets a good, safe home." Datarila nods as Alece says this then makes a salute with a grin. Alece chuckles, "You have a lot in your mind to think of, Leoian, and that is a good thing but you understand that sometimes we have to wait for answers." She says this knowing that Leo understands and not as a question of his ability to know it, "I am so sorry. I keep forgetting that you are from a long way off. There are many places in Cosima that have verpiens due to there not being a lot of women. A verpien is a group of men who's main consideration is the care of one woman. Often one or more become a mate to the person if they so choose. We insist upon this due to the danger of the shadow creatures outside our walls." She steeples her fingers and takes a deep breath, "The Gomoktooth are humanoids who are big and mean. They are kind of like trolls or orcs but are larger and something ... how can I explain them?" She looks to Datarila who shakes her head then flies off into the library, pulling out scrolls to find something. In a few moments she brings back a scroll and opens it to a picture. "Oh yes. Here it is. The Gomoktooth range between 8 and 15 feet tall and are something between a wolf and a gorilla, whatever that is. They tend to eat meat, can make basic clothing and are paranoid. They have not acted well to intruders in the past and the balloon is right over their encampment."
The mayor tilts her head slightly as Leoian speaks then nods, closing her eyes for a moment. She breathes in through her nose then out of her mouth a couple of times then sighs, "You saw Datarila." She says quietly then nods her head in acknowledgement. As the woman says the name a small person materializes on top of a column near the patio exit. She looks to be large enough to sit on someone's shoulder and has wings. Datarila looks at the group shyly and lowers her head a bit as one would when they have been caught at taking cookies from a jar. "Datarila is my companion, my conscience at times if you will. She can only speak with me. We should have known that a halfling would see what others could not." The mayor walks over to the little woman and Datarila points to Leoian, "Ah yes. I apologize Leoian. I should have answered your questions first but it seemed there were issues others of your party found more urgent; however, it had been rude." The mayor kneels down then sits on a soft rug so she can look directly at the smaller people and the gnoll as he was still on the ground, "This is a large place and I do live here but not with Meteez, the woman out front. She works here but goes home to her husband and children at the end of her work day. I live in my apartments here with Datarila. Most of this building is for official business. Mayor work stuff." She smiles, "Thank you for your nice comment about me as well. All of these people do not scare me but I am not a woods person like a halfling is. Maybe we could talk about a home for you later." She stands and gestures to the chairs so that everyone could be at the same level, "I believe Turble that you should be Ms. Oftenseen's first verpien. You should do well watching over her as she has no other men who are for her care only. We should find another verpien for her later" The mayor sits as food and drink is brought in. Datarila flies down to a short column that is close to the mayor. This one seems to have a soft seat with another column, almost like a table, is beside hers and a small mug is placed there for her as well as a small plate of foods. "The balloon is where we cannot get it. Thankfully it is also where the Gomoktooth cannot get it, on the side of a mountain."
As Leoian searches around, all he can find is a nice patio with a lounging chair and table with a cup of hot cocoa on it and a legal book. Inside the office it is a normal office on the one side and on the other side is where everyone else is. There is nothing unusual. Even the cushion on the floor with white animal hair on it is nothing new. The mayor nods at Bryn's answer and chuckles at Mittens' comment, "I am sure that everyone keeps you as safe as possible, my dear. As for Leoian ... do you care after Finwa? Is she your woman too?"
The mayor smirks as Turble and Finwa talk then breathes out heavily, "Turble has no home. I am ..." She stops mid sentence and looks at the other two then towards the balcony, "You have only two men to two women?" She looks to Charlene for confirmation then down at Finwa and then Bryn, "But you and the halfling, Leoian stayed by Finwa. Are you two Finwa's protectors?"
As everyone else is concerned with the balloon and the new arrivals Leoian has gone off onto the balcony they mayor had come in from. The mayor glares at the man who had brought in the gnoll and snaps, "You have been told time and again about treating your apprentices like abused animals. Fair Raven is not a home for slavers or abusive behavior and you know that, Tonkleson! The guards will take you for your punishment of starving an apprentice and ill treatment. You will be fined and all current apprentices withdrawn from your service and you will leave Fair Raven within the day." "Mayor! You forget, I am your best ..." Alece waves her hand and guards come to take away the man, hollering and screaming at her then she looks to the gnoll, "What shall we do with you?" She puts out a hand to Turble to help him up, "You will have to be trained into a new profession but there is nothing at this time." The mayor puts her hand to her chin considering how to fix the problem.
Before Leoian can get very far and just as Mittens states that the balloon is hers the doors the group had come through bursts open and a middle aged man, still strong looking, stomps into the room holding onto the ear of a gnoll. He gets closer then pushes the creature to the ground and wipes his hands in a clapping type of gesture as if he is wiping dirt from them, "This creature has stolen from me! I will no longer continue to keep this flea bitten beast on my property! I insist that you do something with him because I've had it with thievery within my own business. What will you do about this creature Mizz Mayor?" The Mayor stands up and looks at the man with a glare in her eyes and he backs up a pace, "Please excuse me." She says to the group then gives the man a word but when she speaks to the gnoll it is gentled, "Tonkleson, keep your peace. Gnoll? Is this correct? Did you steal from your Master to whom you were apprenticed?"
The mayor gives Leo a strange look, seemingly confused by the young halfling but it is mingled with some surprise. She seems somewhat confused by the little man then looks up at Bryn and gives him a half smirk that says she can tell that he is a silver tongued beast but that she isn't fully immune to his looks. Her eyes trail to Finwa who is partially behind Bryn and Leoian, peeking out at her curiously then she puts out her hand and grasps Charlene's elbow, clearly indicating that Charlene should do the same in a stronger hand shake than the normal one. Alece Marbro takes a step back from Charlene and looks over the group once more before commencing with eye contact with the former manager. She listens intently before nodding once, "It was reported to me that your group had come into Fair Raven and I was hoping that you would come to me. You have wonderful timing as well. We just found the balloon a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, we have yet to be able to retrieve it." She waves her hand to a sitting area and walks to a leather chair which looks extremely comfortable but business-like in it's upkeep. She pulls a rope and sits down, "You see, we have had some trouble getting to it but that may yet change."
As they get in and the doors close behind them the group can see the room much better. It is a beautiful room with the same dark wood as they saw outside and the furnishings looked wondrous. The receptionist looks up and smiles at the group then stands, waving you to the doors, "Mayor Alece Marbro is available. She will see you now." As you enter the room you see that there is a balcony off to the side which the woman in question is standing in front of, just now coming back into the room.
The lady smiles at the group with that smile of "the customer is always right" or such an attitude of "smile and wave" as she gives a little wave of her hand to say goodbye but when Brynjård speaks she smiles, delighted by his voice and visage. Leoian bouncing up to look at her makes her actually chuckle and one of the men behind her stands up and looks at Bryn and Leo grumpily. She tilts her head and smiles, "This is my job so I can't go anywhere no matter," She winks at Bryn, "What temptations come my way." There is a harumph behind her and she glances back then looks to the group, "I am here to give directions so you did not trouble me. I hope you find what you are looking for with the mayor."
Hugh looks at all their faces and smiles brightly, "Aye! It be a plan den. Aw! Charlene ye canna go like dat! Hol' on." He rushes into his home leaving the door open and a few minutes later comes out with a female's shirt and puts it up in front of Charlene, "Not quite but aye ye shou' do ok wif yer belt. Now, go put dis on an ah put de ol shirt inna cleanin' lass pack she be pickin' today." He shoos the woman into the house and waits for her to come out, "Now of ye all get er de kitty she may nip ye all fer dat bawoon tingy. Scoot scoot. Rememba ... 5 Allyan Ave. Dat be me house if ye get lost."
Hugh relaxes against the building with a big smile and pats his belly, "Ye fed me be'r den Ah've been fed n years. Tell ya'll what. If'n ye ken come fer supper time an make an'ther meal alike that tis would make me sure happy. An' ta have ye over fer da night w'thout de terror. We ken tell stories n front ah de fire an ye'll be keepin' dis man here happy."
Grinch chuckles as Leoian goes on with more questions and puts up a hand for him to slow down, "Whoa whoa! So much so fast. Halflings don't live so close to here and it is dangerous to travel alone. We see your race some times during the year with wares or a faire but it is a long way to the closest village. You must be from a long way off or were raised without any of your kind around. Anyway, magic did not make my moustache, I've heard that some halflings have trouble with the magic and I think halflings just don't grow facial hair." When Mittens flies up on her machine he gulps and looks at her, "Oh. Uhm ...yes there is some kind of balloon we found. You'd want to talk to the mayor about that." "Grinch! You oughta be getting them through not yabberin' yer heart out!" "Shut yer trap, Darvy! People have been going past that need to and I've recorded it all so stop acting like I'm not doing my job!" He rolls his eyes and turns back to the group, "If that's all for now, you're welcome to Fair Raven. Mayhaps I'll see you about town after my shift." He gives them a nod and waves them through. The mule huffs and starts off down the roads noticeably knowing the route to take and not even waiting for a switch of the reigns to get going. Apparently the animal probably thought she would get a better meal at home. "Well," Hugh says as they get to a property with a house and a small barn. He gets off the cart and starts to unhitch Millie, "This be ma home s'if ye need place ta stay ye ken come here. Ah'm in fer da day then be out tomorra fer da fields. Market's down to Main which ye may ha' saw when we come cross da innersection past de doors an mayor he be on de odder side a' town. Yer might wanna git a map at market as dey be free ta new persons." He pats Millie's behind when he gets the barn door open and she rushes in happily, "Ah really enjoy'd havin' ye even wit dem shadows. Ye all be good'uns."
