About Baran CaranthirCharacter Creation Guidelines: The adventures will start in Sandpoint and the surrounding areas but will NOT be following the Rise of the Runelords AP. Assume that the Swallow Tail festival of the AP occured without incident and that the glassworks is running fully opperational. Characters can be from Sandpoint, Magnimar, or anywhere nearby with a reason to be in Sandpoint. Players can work out backgrounds to know each other if they want but it isn't necessary to do so. We will use Invisible Castle for all dice rolls. Character Generation: Stats on a 20 point buy. Core classes and Races only. Characters can start at 3rd level Starting Gold is 1.5X max of first level for normal equipment with the left over representing treasure found in the characters early adventuring career. Player can convert some of the left over to gems, jewelry, or other valuables to represent this if they like. Each character gets upto 2700 gp value in magical gear. Any of this gp value that is not spent on magic items is lost. Favored Deities: Desna, Erastil, Gozreh Excited by the legends and stories of great elven warriors Baran joined the local ranger corps as soon as he was of age. Baran quickly impressed the leaders of his corps and instead of making him another ranger they volunteered him for a recon group. Instead of patrolling the borders of the nation or fighting its wars, Baran was taught the art of stealth and espionage and spent his time in the shadwos: stealing enemy secrets, killing orc or goblin chiefs before they could become dangerous, and other such missions. Though Baran was glad that he could help his nation, his missions didn't earn him the honor or glory that he had hoped for when he joined. One early autumn day while Baran was tailing a merchant who was believed to be an enemy spy, Baran watched as a tall broad human road into town tailing two men tied up. Baran learned that the man was a bounty hunter and had caught two cultists who had been plaguing the area. Seeing the way that others looked at the man Baran decided that he could use his skills to be an effective bounty hunter as well. A few months later he quite the corps and started out as to track down his first bounty. Baran has spent the last several decades working as a bounty hunter in Magnamar and its surrounding vicinity. He's begun to make a name for himself and has found that some of the bounties he wants to take he can't take alone. Although he is a bounty hunter by trade he has also worked as a courier, tracker, scout, and finder of missing things for various employers throughout the region. Recently, however, Baran has teamed up with Rhade, a half-elf ranger from the area, for his bounty hunts and has found that they make a good team. Besides being fairly profitable Baran feels he has much to learn from Rhade in regards to tracking and woodland lore and greatly enjoys his company so he is looking to keep the team together for as long as he can. Baran has set his sights on capturing Bruthazmus, a vicious bugbear known for collecting elf ears, and has come to Sandpoint with Rhade in hopes of making contact with Shalelu, an elven ranger who monitors the local region. Shalelu has had a few confrontations with Bruthazmus and Baran is hoping that she can provide him with information that will help him in tracking Bruthazmus down. Until Shalelu gets back in town Baran has been content to explore the town, learn what information he can and meet its many residents. When he is feeling in need of company or a boisterous environment he makes his way to the Rusty Dragon where he has a few drinks and makes small talk with Dirdelle, one of the barmaids and a newcomer herself. Baran finds her wild and generous nature refreshing like a spring rain after the last few months of tracking and capturing criminals. |
