Epic level play is very important to our gaming group, we played AD&D for a long time without ever seeing 11th, but with 3.0 we played a game last lasted until 33rd lvl. With 3.5 we played several games into the high teens.
We have never been happy with the ELH, especially its rules for epic spellcasting. What I, and the rest of my group, would like to see is a return to 10th level and higher spells. Actual spells, not seeds and modifiers and spellcraft checks that dont work in a real game.
The epic level handbook should look just like the players handbook, except epic, with epic class abilities, epic skill uses, epic feats and epic spells. The ELH handled a lot of these things well, but the epic spells were far too different and difficult for most players to want to deal with.

Try Gorgon's Blood, I remember reading in some book (cant remember which at the moment) that it has the same affect as lead when mixed into the mortar of a building.
Something like this could be used as an alternative to spells, and provide the players with a bit of a sidequest as they gather the relevant "Monster parts" to use in their construction project.

For several game sessions now my group has been using the (10+ 1/2 caster level + Ability Modifier) formula. So far I have liked what i have seen. My players like it, and it would seem to make lower level spells more useful and exciting as the power levels of the game progress. It also speeds combat up a bit, as the casters only have a single number to remember for the save D.C.'s of their spells. We plan to continue using this method to see how it goes in the future, but so far so good.

My entire group has abandoned WoTC due to the changes to the Realms and the fact that 4e looks like a video game booklet. Right now I have 7 players in my group, 3 of which run games for other goups, for a total of 19 gamers I know for a fact will not be purchasing any more WoTC material. We plan on giving the Pathfinder line a shot, I definitely like what ive seen thus far, so Paizo just got about 20 new customers.

I have only in the last week discovered Pathfinder. After me and my entire group were so disappointed over 4e I started looking for an alternative. Thankfully we have found one, and from here on out our group is with Paizo and the Pathfinder line. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the dreams of gamers everywhere.
