One of your legs is permanently wounded, reducing your base land speed by 10 feet if your base land speed is 30 feet or more. If your base land speed is less than 30 feet, your speed is reduced by 5 feet. Your speed is never reduced due to encumbrance.
Background:
Bahram was a former blade of the Dawnflower, but after he took a blow to his head trying to free Varaso from the gnoll slavers, leaving him with addled wits and a permanent limp, he was left in Zimir with Varaso and another elf Lanarial, who soon left them to start his life afresh, on the sea. When Bahram bemoaned that his life was over, the healers told him he could still start his life anew by picking up a new trade, and there was always a shortage of healers around. He picked up what he could from them, then with Varaso's help, set up a herbalists shop in Zimar. He has been a family friend of Varaso for many years, and Basila looks at him as her uncle(his shop was her playground when she was younger). Bahram's greatest regret is that he failed to save Varaso's wife 12 years ago. He could only watched helplessly as she slipped away from this world, despite his best efforts. Varaso, the good hearted man he was, never blamed him, but still he blamed himself for being unable to save her and her unborn child.
When Varaso moved to Cassomir, he moved along with his old friend. Varaso introduced him to Nhilune, a herb seller living on the edge of the Vurduran Forest. Nhilune has become his favourite supplier, since she knows herbs even better then he does. He's always wondered if she wouldn't mind showing him her herb garden in the Vurduran Forest, but has yet to voice it out, as he is afraid his bad leg might be an inconvenience. Basila started bringing a friend of hers, Alledueces, to his shop. He found Alleduces to be a well behaved and inquisitive halfling, with a knack for carpentry. He taught Alledueces all he knew about herbs, finding him to have a quick and retentive mind, then told him to look up the libraries in Cassomir for more herb lore. Alleduces has in return, been helping him keep his wooden herb cabinets in good condition. He wonders if he'll have an opportunity to introduce to Nhilune to Alledueces so that he can pick her brains.
Basila knows that her Uncle Bahram might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has a kind heart and always tries to help others. When she was younger, he'd sometimes entertain her with colourful lights display, telling her not to tell anyone, it was their little secret. Basila now takes Varaso's place in helping Bahram keep the books (he complains that numbers give him a headache).
Occasionally Bahram has been called to Cassomir's locker for his services, in fixing the aftermath of the fight with what occasionally pops out of the locker. The last time, he was called to treat a soldier who nearly got his leg ripped off by a giant crocodile. He managed to save the leg, and the Garrison commander, pleased with his work, besides paying him, has given him something extra, a set of "old army supplies" (a dungeoneering kit with the usual contents, with an extra crowbar and a grappling hook).
