You all have no idea who happy it makes me to see this game is still going.

Please, with all haste, carry on.

"We are here because the Iomedeans wish to sow chaos, disorder, and disrupt the rightful authority in this region. The best way to suppress that is to discredit the sword knight, so that others will not follow her. Barring that, preventing people from hearing her speech will have to do."

He looks around at the gathering crowd, "I am sure that I can handle the crowd, should it turn violent, but you are right that we should not be seen to interfere directly. That may just play into the Sword Knight's hands. Is there anything your spell's can do to drive off the crowd before it fully forms? Without blowing them up?"

Azrael does not bother to slink around to listen in on commoners' conversations, and makes a point not to engage with any of the gathering townsfolk. Instead, as the other peel off to gather information, the dark knight marches to the center of the square, about fifteen feet from the table and directly in front of it. If he is able to stride through any loose throngs of people to get there, all the better.

Once he has reached his very conspicuous position, he draws his sword and rests it on its tip in front of him, with both hands on its pommel. He stares, motionless, at the temple, as if daring people to gather around, or daring the Iomedeans to make an appearance. All the while, though, he keeps his ears open, listening for any conversation of note.

Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

To Rurisa and Kayal, as they close and make their reports, he nods simply, "Sounds like something they'd try. We shall need to see about breaking this performance up, if possible. If we can discredit the sword knight in the process, all the better."

Azrael nods to Cimri's suggestion and makes his way to his little gear pile, "If someone would be so kind as to assist me with my armor."

Once fully kitted out, Azrael stores his new bow across his back (with a mental note to pick up some arrows to go with it at some point). He then drapes the sash over the chestplate, being careful not to catch it on any spikes.

On the way, Azrael goes over his Iomedean training and upbringing, trying to work up pain points that he can hit in debate to incite the devout to violence. Or just break their ability to argue back.

Iomedean Theology: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Despite being years past it, he does seem to be able to recall his training with remarkable ease...

Azrael doesn't bother donning his armor for this meet, instead straightening his soldier's outfit before accompanying the others upstairs. Again, he stands at rigid attention as Razelgo delivers the next job.

The aasimar's teeth grind at the mention of the Iomedean Church and the Sword Knight sowing the seeds of revolt.

"It would be a pleasure to take the Iomedeans down a peg. Given the opportunity, I would raze the church to the ground, in Asmodeus' glory."

"Should I assume a show of force is acceptable, so long as any open conflict is initiated by the Iomedeans?"

Azrael give Cimri a mock bow and a grin, "I admit defeat. And now, I shall succumb to sleep. Goodnight, dear compatriots."

Azrael finds himself a comfortable chair to rest in and is soon snoring away.

Azreal snorts at Cimri's proclamation, but smiles at her and takes another drink, himself, "Lucky shot, is all that is. What do you say to one last throw, winner-take-all? Unless anyone else wants to get in on this?"

One last throw:
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Azrael does take the offer of assistance with his armor, leaving his mail in a neatly stacked pile near the wall, along with his sword and pack.

When it comes to drunken bullseye, Azrael is quick to agree, "Sure, let me finish this bottle. If someone would be so kind as to lend me a dagger..."

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 17 +1 if using Cimri's new masterwork dagger
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Edit: Not a bad first roll, forgot the other two rounds...

Attack 2: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Attack 3: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Azrael lands two shots solidly within the second ring, though his final attempt misses the target entirely and embeds into the wall. "Oh well. Never said this was my specialty. I think I did pretty well."

Azrael grins at the spectacle of Kayal cutting the tongue out of Louslik's skull, as he makes his way from the building and back out into the night. After sheathing his sword and clambering back over the wall, he follows Cimri back to town without another word.

Standing before the paper screen, Azrael stands in contrast to Rurisa, stiff and upright, eyes forward. As they are dismissed, he gives a short bow t the screen, "It was my pleasure, sir. Though I do hope the next time is for something more straightforward."

After speaking, he executes a sharp about-face and marches through the door and downstairs. Once away from their employer, he loosens up considerably, smiling and lounging in one of the chairs while eating. He takes his purse and checks it quickly while eating.

When Rurisa goes to leave, he gives her a nod, "Good work out there tonight, m'lady. I look forward to working with you again in the future."

Would have preferred plate mail, honestly. Not even masterwork, either. He just wants platemail Azrael is built for melee.

I'll take it, of course. Having a ranged weapon isn't exactly a terrible idea...

Edit: Is it at least a composite longbow with +3 Str rating? :D

Azrael glares through the dim light at the man, almost pitiable in his last moments. Azrael has no desire to kill this man, but no reservations about it, either. His blade has already tasted blood, after all.

Even as the dog races forward, Azrael grinds his teeth. Sighing as it takes down Fayal, the dark knight steps up and bring his blade down on the mutt.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 +2 if he is able to charge
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7

If he kills the dog:

Azrael moves in unison with Rurisa, walking at her shoulder and keeping watch around them. He gives her a nod as she begins to climb, and watches in case she falls.

As soon as Rurisa is over the wall, Azrael follows, climbing up and over right behind. Taking 10 on Climb

Even as he drops to the ground, his sword's vicious edge breaks free of its sheath. He lands aside his fellow mercenary and glances around the area to clear it before the squishier members of their group join them.

"Let them finish and leave. Killing them in unnecessary, and it is not their sins that must be punished. The dog, on the other hand, will need to be put down, regardless of how...noisy we decide to be in the end."

Azrael remains impassive as he speaks, almost sounding bored.

"Still, I will advocate for swift, decisive action. If we move swiftly enough, we can be in and out long before the sheriff arrives, regardless of how unsubtle we are."

Azrael stands tall alongside the fetchling, making no attempt at blending into the shadows. Despite being able to see perfectly well in the dark, his eyes fall on the complex with dispassion, missing fine detail.

"I take it we are supposed to be stealthy about this operation, then? I will admit that my methods typically lack in subtlety. I prefer a straight fight to sneaking around."

The tall aasimar shifts his weight and looks up into the clear, dark sky for a long moment.

"I suppose I can act as a decoy. Draw attention and let the rest of you do what needs to be done. Cimri, is there a moratorium on ending Louslik's wretched existence?"

It may seem inefficient in the short term, in the small picture. In truth, allowing him to get off so lightly may keep his one business producing, but what of others? Destroying him entirely sends a clear message. He may not be producing anymore, but others will be sure to make their tax payments on time, lest the hammer of justice be brought down on their heads, next.

*bites nails in anticipation*

Seven characters (currently) vying for four open spots. Not sure if that makes it more difficult to make a decision, or less...

Is there an updated list of submissions? Or is it still the one above?

Alright, my submission is complete. Lemme know if you have any questions.

Azrael Rahab
Male Lawful Evil Angelkin Aasimar Antipaladin (Tyrant/Dread Vanguard), Level 1, Init 3, HP 12/12, Speed 30
AC 18, Touch 11, Flat-footed 17, CMD 15, Fort 4, Ref 1, Will 1, CMB +4, Base Attack Bonus 1
Masterwork Greatsword +5 (2d6+4, 19-20/x2) (Power Attack +4/2d6+7)
Armor Spikes +4 (1d6+3, x2) (Power Attack: +3/1d6+5)
Spiked Banded Mail (+7 Armor, +1 Dex)
Abilities Str 16, Dex 12, Con 14, Int 12, Wis 8, Cha 15
Condition None

Five points that capture the concept and story of the character.:
1. Born in Andoran, son of a human father and aasimar mother. Both of his parents were clergy in the church of Iomedae; his father a preist, his mother a paladin.
2. He was raised in the church, the ideals of The Inheritor ingrained in him throughout his childhood, until he was able to enter the training program to become a paladin, himself. His mother was so proud.
3. Throughout his training, he experienced vivid dreams and heard whispers that no one else could. These visions and whispers spoke to him of great power and riches that could be his, if only he were to renounce his faith and swear fealty to Asmodeus.
4. On the day of his graduation, as he was formally knighted and bestowed the title of paladin, he struck down his mentor and declared his allegiance for Asmodeus. His blonde hair turned black, his blue eyes turned red, and the mark of the Dark Prince burned itself into the back of his right hand.
5. Azrael fled to Cheliax, away from the church and his family, to join the church of Asmodeus and make his fortune as a dark knight.

Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.:
1. Realize, and come to accept, that killing Iomedae’s faithful is not following Iomedae’s will (go figure). To realize and accept that he is evil, and not bound by the limits of his presumed task.
2. Desecrate a temple of Iomedae and/or burn it to the ground and/or convert it to a temple of Asmodeus. Killing Iomedeans is all well and evil, but taking down a place of worship is an actual blow against the deity herself.

Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC.:
1. Azrael still worships Iomedae, sort of. He believes the whispers and visions came from his goddess, and that he is following her will. He believes that she wants him to root out the corruption that has overtaken her church, to cleanse it. He believes that once the purge is complete, Iomedae will take him back into her arms, purge the vile powers that he has been granted, and make him a gleaming hero. He's dead wrong, of course, and is, in fact, insane. As he gains more and more dark power, he will only see more and more "corruption" in the faithful of Iomedae, and seeka to destroy them all.
2. His instructor at the church, the one he killed on his graduation, was no paladin at all. Nor was she even human. She was, in fact, a Devil in disguise, bent on corrupting new paladins before they could become enemies of Hell. She did not die when Azrael apparently slew her, either, instead escaping to start the process all over again.

Four people that are tied to your PC.:
1. Charmeine Rahab. Azrael’s mother. Charmeine is, or was, a retired paladin of Iomedae. Her own angelic heritage allowed her to outlive her husband, and to see the fall of her only son to evil. She has come partially out of retirement to help the church recover from his betrayal, taking up the training of the next generation while keeping up on any rumors of Azrael’s whereabouts and pushing the church to hunt him down, to bring him in alive, if possible. Dead, if necessary. Her worst fear is that a time may come when she will need to fully come out of retirement, unfurl her golden wings, and smite down her own son…
2. Teressa Boldel, Cleric of Asmodeus. Teressa found Azrael as he fled to Cheliax. SHe took him under her tutelage, nursed him to health, and escorted him to the temple in Egorian. She stayed with him for a while, as he became acclimated to his new religious duties, and they were lovers for that time. Inevitably, though, her duties took her elsewhere, and his took him to Longacre, and they parted ways.
3. Letor Stale, Hellknight Armiger. Azrael and Letor served together briefly during Azrael’s time in Egoian. A fellow antipaladin, the two developed a friendly rivalry before parting ways. Long debates over alcohol of dubious quality, mostly over the virtues of different weapon types (Azrael favors swords, Letor axes), sparring sessions, and competition for the affections of Teressa punctuated their friendship, but did nothing to weaken it.
4. Gvene Yesirn, “priest” of Asmodeus. Gvene maintains the local shrine and house of worship (can’t even call it a proper church or temple) to Asmodeus in Longacre. While not an actual cleric, he is an ordained member of the clergy, and oversees church operations in the area, including overseeing Azrael’s actions (and hiring the young knight out on occasion in order to bring in extra coin for the church...and himself).

Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.:
1. Entering his training as a paladin of Iomedae. The pride on the faces of his parents, especially his ailing father, are burned into his memory. They knew he would go on to be a shining beacon of justice and righteousness in the world. There was no doubt in any of their hearts of his destiny, of his path in life.
2. His knighting. In the months beforehand, the whispers and visions increased in frequency and potency. Even as his mentor handed him his blade, he could hear nothing over the din in his mind. As he drove the blade through her chest, the noise softened, As he withdrew the blade and brought it down, through her neck, it ceased entirely. With newfound clarity, he remembers the brand shining with unholy light, burning into the back of his hand, forever altering his path.
3. Entering the grand temple of Asmodeus in Egorian. The grandiosity of it all, the dark splendor of the building. But more than anything else, the sense of purpose and belonging that he had never felt at the church of Iomedae. Even though the clergy made him work harder than any Iomedean ever did, his acceptance into their ranks felt all the more worthwhile for it.

I have one last question for Fez: How will we be handling crafting? Core rules? Variant rules? Making Craft Work? (I'm partial to the third option, myself).

Just need to know so I can figure out the last part of my starting funds and maybe change some skills around.

And now to start on background. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm guessing that's a spoiler from the game itself?

Odentin here. This alias is just a shell, for now. Will be filled soon.

Is the Rich Parents trait available? Otherwise, I'm not getting very good armor...
