In the player core, pretty much all of the [Race] Weapon [X] feats got reworked. Now things like Gnome Weapon Familiarity give access, let you treat martial as simple and advanced as martial, including proficiency advancement, and gives you the critical specialization effect at 5th level. I think this might have some bearing on the rankings of them.
