"We can keelhaul him soon enough. Show him a bit of Besmara's mercy when we chuck his irritating ass into the sea."

Glancing at Ambrose and Lucas, he shrugs. "We can look for high ground..let's move quietly and stay aware then. If we meet any head-hunting tribes, then I plan on getting their heads first."

With a shrug, the tribesman puts on his armor and moves up next to Ambrose. "Sure, sure. Let's go look for something fresh. Maybe find some meat, eh?

Turning his attention to Plugg, he folds his arms. "Any chance we could take Cog or Rosie with us, Captain?"

I've been traveling since last Thursday, just got back yesterday night. I missed this post ><

Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 3 = 22

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

Sandara.." Atsadi scowls at Plugg, sneering at him but scurrying back to the rigging.

He looks at Ambrose, furrowing his brow and shaking his head, muttering to Lucas. "We'll need to meet up after this storm to talk about this. Any chance you think Plugg somehow overheard us and planned this? Or is this just sheer bad luck..."

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

Finally making his way up (taking 20? XD), Atsadi looks around at the battle scene. "Disgusting monsters. Let's see who we lost!"

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

Atsadi's streams of curses and growls are lost to the storm and the sounds of waves crashing against the ship--and him. As Ambrose hauls on the rope to help the half-drowned pirate up, Atsadi looks up with a broad smile.

"Aye, thank you for the help, Ambrose!"
Climb: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9

He scowls as his hands slip, his sodden clothing sticking to him. "There isn't a sign of anyone in the water. Whoever fell overboard got dragged off somewhere!" he calls out. "Go help Lucas! I won't drown and I don't want to find one of you bleeding all over the ship when I get up there!"

Note to self: invest in climb skill.

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

...Missed that, Sorry Hurley!

Shifting back to human form, the pirate struggles with the water, grabbing onto the rope. He shifts into a trance, standing upon the water as he tugs on the rope and begins to scale upward, using the ship to assist his assent.

He grits his teeth and Climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 is going to have a hard time clambering up with the storm and the waves. But he'll make his attempt regardless, the sound of combat above driving him to work harder.

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

I don't really think there's much Atsadi can do other than follow the ship and wait for someone to throw a rope or something overboard at this point.

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

Atsadi growls as he realizes whoever had fallen overboard must have already drowned--or worse. He'll follow the ship as it sails, shifting to human form just long enough to shout before turning back into a shark and concentrating on the form.

"Oi! Whoever fell overboard's already gone! Someone throw a rope!"

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

"Lucas, keep an eye out for anyone going overboard!"

Atsadi swings from the rigging, battered by rain and ropes against the mast. "Why the hell did Plugg put me up here.." He grumbles while struggling to disentangle himself from some stray, flaying seaweed.

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

Atsadi keeps close to Lucas, knowing if one of them slips or starts to fall asleep the other could try to help. He makes no complaints, gritting his teeth and looking into the storm.

Climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Atsadi has few ideas, but provides what insight he can to Jeggare's plan. "A few approaches, smart comments...this sounds good, Ambrose. We will make do with what we can manage and feed all others to my seabound brethren."

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

A sly smile crosses the shark-kin's face and he lifts his arms in a shrug. "Atsadi says a lot of things, Lucas, my friend."

Sandra's explanation brings a worried look. "No, she does not. Mutiny is something I could get behind with that sort of news. Treachery for treachery. I do like that idea, Jeggare and wouldn't mind starting off on a solid food. What kind of poison would you use?"

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

"Bah, you wouldn't be wrong there. Fear is a good motivator though!"

Lucas's needling of Ambrose seems to bring a smile back to the pirate's face. "The more you insist against it, the more entertaining it'll be to call you on it, Jeggare."

He looks back to the Sandara and shrugs. "Maybe we can just kill them all while they sleep?"

Human (Arcadian) Zealot(Void Prophet) 2|| Soul Weaver 2 | HP: 10+1/24 | AC: 13(+1 Dex, +2 Natural) / T: 11 / FF: 12 | Fort: +5, Ref: +1, Will: +2 | M. Atk: +5, R. Atk: +3, M. Touch: +5, R. Touch: +3 | CMB: +5, CMD: 16 | Init: +5, Perception: +4

Sandra's revelation is greeted with a low growl. "That's not something I'm keen on happening."

He glances to Lucas, lowering his voice a bit. "Do we have any idea how many of the crew are...equally dissatisfied?"

After yet another long day working in the bilges, Atsadi's care-free grin is a frown. He follows the other two with a small scowl.

Unlike the other two, he doesn't say a word and just leans against the ship's railing, spitting over the side.

Sorry! The wife has been away from the house the last two weeks. Luckily she's back today and I no longer have to wonder how the heck anyone survives as a single parent.

Atsadi nods firmly to Lucas in response.

"Ah, a story! It may indeed take some time to tell."

"In a land far, far away was a perfectly clear by surrounded by towering peaks. It provided everything you could want. The trees rang with coconuts, fish filled our nets, and the beaches would be filled with beautiful women. And, most importantly..there was battle. My island brothers would gather arms and sail against fierce serpents, against one another, and against those who lived to the north."

He sighs, looking across the ocean. "But one day...we ventured too far. As a grand champion among men I strode stood at the prow of our ship and we provoked something too great for us. The wrath of a slaver fleet. Men clad in steel bearing great magic outnumbered us and swarmed over our boats. At the end, many of us lay dead in the water or in chains. My own situation was none better. While I had challenged their leader and dealt him a brutal blow, cleaving into his side...it was not enough. He withstood a mortal blow and knocked me out."

"When I awoke.."

Atsadi tries to strike a thoughtful pose, propping one foot on the edge of the boat, elbow on knee and head in hand. "When I awoke...it was to chains and misery. Long days of metal chafing wrists and ankles. Sickness. Hunger. Many of my companions perished in the hold. The slavers were wise and only used sticks to push food close to us..until one was not so wise."

"Taokowan claims it was a gift from the spirits. Manaaki thought it was simply exhaustion from the trip. Me? I believe Besmara smiled upon us, this foreign goddess seeing foreign people and setting a challenge to our hands. We rose to that challenge."

He turns back from the ocean, his mouth bristling with shark fangs and letting out a laugh. "The boy's hand came too close and I took off several fingers, snatching him around the wrist with my teeth! He sobbed and cried, relenting to provide us with the key...and that was their doom. We would not be taken a second time. Fighting to the death, we captured the vessel and had our own ship!"

"We turned the sail home but something caused us to pause. There was gold to be had here, where we were. There were gems as brilliant as home's oceans. There were women, and plunder...and revenge. We sought the slavers companions and turned to piracy!"

That was years ago..."

He shrugs, shouldering a coil of rope for no apparent reason. "And that is the start of the tale of Atsadi, Shark Thief and Beloved of Besmara!"

I meant in a general way rather than making a suggestion for this game!

But with that said...I am a big fan of it. Items that give simple +'s to things are...boring when there are items like bracelets of stone or a spell-capturing stone. I always felt it saved a party money to spend on "weird" but still useful items.

Redblade and Hurley didn't get high enough level in the one game I ran for them to use it, but I actually thought ABP didn't go far enough...I was planning on giving the item enhancements it gives by default to their PC's rather than any specific item, letting them pick up any weapon/unarmed strike to get the enhancement bonus. That was a -very- different game from Skull & Shackles though.

Lucas it is! You can have the Amulet for now, unless we think it's better elsewhere later.

Should we talk about loot allocation? The way I usually encourage it to be done is by a combination of who needs it and the wealth by level (WBL) charts. Generally figure mundane items and consumables that help the party (healing items, endure elements, etc) don't count toward WBL but utility potions/scrolls/wands and magic items do.

Idea is to try and keep the party loot balanced while also making sure the people who need the items are getting them. For stuff that anyone or multiple people can use, a roll makes sense while also keeping in mind WBL and stuff.

As an aside, what do you three think of the Automatic Bonus Progression rules from Unchained?

Sorry, I never did reply to your question Lucas! I think that ideas fair enough.

I'll call 1-3, Ambros 4-6 and Lucas 7-8?

Atsadi scowls a bit as Harrigan parades the captured sailors out. "What, couldn't be bothered to take the ones we left alive.."

The scowl only deepens as the pirate watches their captain hurl someone overboard. "Damn waste to make a point. Don't like that one much," he grumbles to Lucas and Ambrose.

Scourge's orders draw a sneer from Atsadi and a mock salute before he quietly returns to the hammocks to grab his few belongings. Just his clothing and his weapons, at this point.

He'll follow after Ambrose, looking disgruntled and fingering the edge of a knife. "Besmara better give a good opportunity 'ere before long."

Glanced at a list of SKull & Shackles napes. I'd like to get Owlbear on our side. I think Atsadi beat him previously in hand to hand ? Also Tilly, Rosie Cusswell, Conchobar, and Cog if possible..

I was figuring on two Work Diligently checks, and three Influence checks. I'm looking at those NPCs named on the Campaign Info Tab. Atsadi, do we have anyone in particular we want to target in this process?

None of them, hostile/unfriendly is too hard a DC to really make. I'd like to think Rednal will be kind to us and randomly pick a few individuals who we already made Friendly/Helpful during the glossed over part. I'd like to get anyone who is on Neutral terms to friendly first and then start working on those who are unfriendly.

Atsadi is the only healer atm, so I think one potion should go to Lucas and one to Ambrose. This way if Atsadi bites it...one of you can pour it in his mouth XD. Or if he's not close enough to heal, you can save yourselves.

For the amulet...at this point we can all use that fairly equally. Shall we roll a d6 and whoever gets highest has dibs?

Atsadi's all about the Diplomacy and convincing people to be his friend..easier to kill the captain that way.

Atsadi will spend the entire party listening, bragging and generally being friendly with various members of the crew. I know we skipped/glossed over a bunch of ship actions to speed things up to the fun stuff, so Atsadi will spend these 5 actions trying to befriend people who weren't befriended during that period starting with those who seem easiest to convince. He'll work his way one by one through individuals until they count as Helpful.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Sounds like! Lucas kills 'em all.

Atsadi might not do it himself, but he won't stop Lucas from it. "I don't kill those who are already down. No point. Rather just loot them and sell them or let 'em go. Let the Pirate Queen decide their fate. But if you choose to do it.."

He shrugs. "That must be da Pirate Queen deciding, yeah?" He grins and his teeth fill in with shark-like fangs.

Atsadi clucks his tongue. Unarmed sailors are no challenge. He won't cut any throats but also won't bother bandaging any wounds. Whom the pirate queen chooses to take is her business after a raid.

He is mostly looking for coins or anything valuable. Knowing how a pirate ship works, he won't take it for himself but will add it to the booty to be shared amongst the crew.

Track:
adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.

Wild Empathy:
can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The ranger rolls 1d20 and adds his ranger level and his Charisma bonus to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.

The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.

Archery Combat Style Feat Rapid Shot
--------------------
Background:
He was raised in a non-Elven metropolis with his middle-class soldier of a father. It seems like to him everytime he comes across an elf, they don't treat him with much respect, so he strives not to be just like them, even taking pleasure in taking out the evil ones. Found a friend in a half-elf hunter, on the outskirts of the city who taught him the ways of the ranger. An evil humanoid monster once told him who his mother was to keep from getting killed, however he broke that promise afterwards, killing the monster and having mixed feelings to this day.
