Yeah. I have no idea what happened with Clint. But I don’t have high expectations for his return. I’d still continue if he does return though.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Still here. Doing fine. According to Clint's post, he should have been back around May 30th. Hopefully, everything is okay.

Yes, I think we are paused because GM is on vacation. I'm still here.

"If reducing oneself to a pack mule is what is required, this most humble servant is at your service, as always."

"Do you think this gas bag is another person that Winter cares about? She seems to be a bleeding heart for anything with a pulse."

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Have a good time.

"Well that was disappointing." Chatty pokes the corpse with his rapier. "Are we sure it's dead?"

"Maybe there are more of these out there..."

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Chatty will search the boxes in the room for anything of value.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

I don't want to attack it first. I can't even get sneak attack. Someone else do it.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Seeing that the figure doesn't seem to notice the group, Chatty sneaks closer to get a better look.

"So you are saying, if we kill this man, the fog will clear and we can escape? What are we waiting for then?"

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Chatty retrieves his dagger.

"It seems like the ghouls are getting thicker the further we push in this direction. Perhaps, if we go far enough, we'll discover the source."

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Since Chatty goes after Vex, I can put my post now to keep things moving.

Dagger: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 4 = 19
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

Unable to squeeze into melee this time, Chatty hurls his dagger between Vex and Angry, which comes dangerously close to giving the paralyzed dwarf a shave, and lodges squarely in the ghoul's body.

(Attacking the ghoul in the corner between Ryzel and Wulfric)

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Rapier: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Thanks to Vex's repositioning, Chatty finds an opening and slips inside to stab at the nearest ghoul.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Chatty slams the door shut and backs away.

"Three ghouls incoming. They look to be more converted patients."

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

"Ok. I'll take a look, my friend."

Chatty slinks up to the door. Standing off to the side, he carefully inspects the door for traps.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Once he is confident the door is safe, he puts his ear up to it to listen for any sounds on the other side.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

If he doesn't hear anything, he inches the door open just enough to look within.

If there is a trap, he will attempt to disarm it before opening the door.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Oh, then they can have it. I just didn't want to lose it if it was related to an NPC later.

I don't remember coming across the tarnished locket but that's just because my memory is bad. I'll hold onto it. It might come up at some point. Other than that, I don't think there is anything else I'd take at the moment.

When dropping Ilki off, Chatty mentions to the bather, "Please check him thoroughly for any scratch or bite marks and to let us know if you find any the next time we return. He was attacked by some ghouls and if he was injured, he could be infected. However, if he is, as long as he doesn't pass away, you shouldn't have anything to worry about."

Slip wrote:
"I'm glad to have a dagger, but I won't be much good with it. Chatty, you're good with small blades, right? Maybe you should take it."

"It is slightly better than the one I'm using now. I'll take it. And here, why don't you take this one from me if you are looking for a dagger, Slip?" Chatty will take the +1 silver dagger and hand Slip his masterwork silver dagger.

At the crossroad, Chatty waits for another to lead.

I don't care which way we end up going. We mentioned the stairs but north is fine by me too.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Chatty grovels before Vex. "My sincerest apologies, my friend. Of course, you are right, as always. My response was a bit...harsh. This whole situation is just so stressful. I let my emotions get the better of me. I shall do better."

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Chatty makes no move to further help Ilki and instead stands over the man with his arms crossed and looks down at him in disgust.

"I hate to say I told you so but this wouldn't have happened if you didn't go running off screaming like a baby. This is the second time we've saved you now. You should be grateful. Luckily for you, after having a discussion with our hotelier, she doesn't appreciate us leaving others out in the halls to die, so you get to come back with us this time. In fact, I vote we return right now. I would really prefer not to travel around with you four all smelling like Rovagug's a%~##$@~."

Chatty saunters over to Slip and pats him on a shoulder, making sure to use his already filthy hand. "You did good, Slip. I am impressed by your bravery and selflessness. You should be proud."

(We should check the woman for any items before we leave too.)

Percentage: 1d100 ⇒ 79

Chatty gets on his belly and leans over the edge of the pool stretching one arm into the muck to fish around for Ilki.

No way am I getting in there. I don't have enough fingers to count the number of diseases I'd catch. Slip is going to need a thorough cleansing after this. Ugh, and the smell. That's going to linger. He thinks to himself.

Rapier: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12

With his back to the gore filled pool, Chatty has no choice but to dance along with the enemy. He steps after her and stabs again.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Bolkvar's token isn't next to the lady but I'm assuming he moved to be able to hit her. So I'm assuming I can move and flank.

Rapier: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 = 25
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 = 24
Damage: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5, 3) + 2 = 14

Chatty steps after the woman and stabs her again. He doesn't know what a doppelganger's anatomy is like, but it seems like he hit something important.

5 ft. step and sneak attack. The lady still has the 1 bleed.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Rapier: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 1 = 6 (Plus 1 bleed)

Chatty is surprised that the enemies are actually real this time. But he wastes no time snapping into action. He pushes past his allies to get behind the female doppelganger. He stabs her and pierces an artery that starts spouting blood.

Yes.

It was more just a side comment. I meant to imply more he wouldn't know the difference between the various illusion spells, silent image, minor image, major image, etc. Some can talk. Some can't talk.

So if doppelgangers, sakils, and people potentially bitten by ghouls weren't enough, now illusions give him yet another reason to trust nothing.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Chatty stands near the doorway but does not enter the room. "Don't trust that these are not more illusions! Watch your back! If that is Ilki, which it might not be, you can't save him if you are dead."

Does the trail of blood continue to where the woman is standing now?

Chatty presses his back against the outside wall and keeps sharp attention to the three directions of the hallway and only a cursory glance at what's going on in the room expecting an ambush from behind.

Asrat has no knowledge (arcana) to know what can or can't be an illusion so everything could be an illusion as far as he's concerned.

"Torag's hairy ass, this is going to be a problem." he curses.

He hears a stone tumble and quickly points to the shifting rubble to the north. "There! That direction!"

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Chatty will approach closer as long as another party member accompanies him. As he moves, he looks on the ground for evidence of blood drops assuming the 'woman' may actually be carrying a blood dagger and tongue like the image did to try to further narrow down her location.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Chatty can't tell if this woman is another fanatic or simply mocking them by mimicking the man's insanity. His eyes go wide when Slip's bolt discorporates the woman's image.

"If she's using illusions, trust nothing!"

Chatty ducks into the shadows of the corner, using the wall as cover, and peers around the wall's edge out into the hallway to see if he spots anything.

Probably a double move to get to where I moved my token. Also, I think for now, Chatty is going to default wield his rapier in one hand and his dagger in the other. Not doing dual-wielding; just giving more flexibility with attacking with one or the other.

NE Human Rogue 2 | 13/13 hp | AC 14 | Fort +0, Ref +6, Will +2 | Perc +7 | Sanity 30/38; Threshold 2; Edge 19 |

Chatty holds his sleeve up to his mouth to keep from gagging and turns his face to the side.

"Well that take's care of that problem. As tragic as his death may be, his sacrifice was not for naught. We now know we cannot consider any of these rooms we've explored as 'cleared'. At least one monster, but likely more, still wanders about and isn't shy about entering places we've passed. We should check every corner and shadow even if it slows us down. It would be a shame to loose any of you to an avoidable ambush."

Chatty ponders, "It also looks like someone or something did this mutilation specifically to silence the man. But to what end, I don't know. He certainly wasn't in any state to spill any secrets. Perhaps there is a creature that just likes the quiet. I can't say his rambling wasn't grating on the ears."

"It better not have been that bastard, Ilki. If he gives me another reason to regret releasing him, he better pray we don't cross paths again."

"Winter isn't going to like this though..."

Chatty asks Winter, "We came across some stairs leading to a second floor. Any idea what's up there?"

"Otherwise, besides Slip's questions, I'd rather get a move on than stand around here chatting."

Chatty bows deeply. "My deepest apologies. You are right. Thank you for reminding me of my audience."

He makes his way out of the room.

Once out of earshot of Winter and York, he spits hatefully on the ground. "The whole lot of them are as good as dead. Thank the gods I lost my memories and not my wits. What a pathetic existence."

Then like a light switch, Chatty slaps on a smiling face and offers to help serve dinner (as previously posted) and apologizes to anyone he 'terrorized' until it is time to sleep.

Chatty's jaw drops in shock. "I did not force anyone to do anything! I did not ask anyone to leave their bubble of safety. I told a heroic tale no different then you'd here in any inn or tavern across Golarion. I provided information and entertainment. If their minds were too traumatized for either, this place is large enough that they could choose not to listen."

Oops. Chatty honestly wasn't trying to cause trouble there.

Chatty is slightly taken aback at Winter's outrage. He composes himself and attempts to salvage the situation.

"My sincerest apologies, my dear Winter. I meant no harm. But these people deserve to know the TRUTH. You shield your wards as though they are all babes but you are smart enough to know you cannot hide cowering in here forever. Even if we killed every monster roaming these halls, this facility is no food pantry. You'll all start starving by the end of the week. You need to start instilling your people with the courage to venture forth. And what better way than with the tales of heroes? I did not say the beast would devour us all. I said that the beast was defeated. And that's what they should know. Yes, there are horrors out there; it would be a lie to deny that. But also, those horrors bleed, and can be killed just like one could kill a man. Furthermore, that our small band is the ones that are doing the killing. You have tasked us with risking our lives and venturing into danger because you wouldn't risk you own. Let us do our job, and let your people know that we are facing the darkness and that the darkness should be afraid of us."

Chatty adjusts his collar and clears his throat. "I may have embellished the creature's size slightly... It may have been no higher than my knee... And I may have impaled myself on my own rapier... But does it not serve us better to give your people confidence that we can handle any adversary?"

Then he plays the religion card. "I have found Pharasma. Or perhap, I have always known her? Who can say with our memory loss and all? But there is no doubt that she will guide us all to safety if you just trust in us."

Chatty pushes past York without even a greeting and makes his way into the chapel/common room where most of the survivors are gathered. He proudly wears his holy symbol of Pharasma and claims that he found faith out in the tunnels. Then he weaves a tale of how he fought a towering beast composed of tentacles and teeth. He tells those listening that the creature bit him with a fang as long and thin as his rapier and shows off his scar. Then he boasts how he landed the killing blow, driving his sword into the monster's black heart.

Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

When it comes time to eat, he offers to help prepare and serve the meal. He spews religious phrases such as, "The Lady of Graves be with you." as he hands the bowls out. While doing this work, he liberally slips extra bites into his own mouth.

For Rook, I'd suggest still investing points in Heal, K-Nature, and Perception. But switch investing points from Sense Motive to Spellcraft instead. As an NPC, he won't be using Sense Motive as much as an active PC character.

Out of his two domain spells, Comprehend Language would probably be more useful.

Chatty takes one vial of antitoxin, one trail ration for himself which he puts in his backpack and scoops up the silver holy symbol of Shelyn and puts it around his neck next to the holy symbol of Desna.

He frowns when Ilki picks up the club. He stomps over to the man and angrily grasps the head of the weapon in his hand. "Was I not clear when I said you couldn't have a weapon?!" Then he calms slightly and releases his grip. "...But you might have some useful information. Answer us truthfully and you can keep it. But you better know your place and quickly. Trust does not come easily in here and I won't hesitate to defend my own." He emphasizes this by pointing the tip of his rapier against the underside of Ilki's jaw. He sheaths the weapon before questioning him.

"Did you work here or were you a patient? What can you tell us of the surrounding areas? Do you know the name Zandalus?"

"What are we doing here? We're trapped here and we're trying to get out. For the time being, we're working with a group of Desnan fanatics who found sanctuary to the south but we aren't with them. When you're done filling us in with what you know, you should probably head there yourself. You'd only be a burden to us if you stuck around. Just approach them slowly. The guards have itchy trigger fingers."
