female Dwarf Oracle 2 / Summoner 2 AC14 (18 with ice armor, 20 in cold environs); HP 30; Percept +2, darkvision; Init +0

Hey everyone, I think I'm going to need to drop out of the game. I've got two things going on, the first being my computer's decided to bite the dust and I'm really not sure when I'll be able to get up and running again. The other issue is I've really been struggling with free time.

I'd really rather not drop out if I can help it but given the circumstances I think I'm really going to struggle to keep up with the game. Thanks particularly Woodsmoke for a super game and being a great GM, Hope to game with you all again in the future.

"Sylgja, if the troll's cave is so close I'm surprised you and your husband haven't had run ins with it before. Who was here first, you or the troll? Did the troll arrive recently?"

female Dwarf Oracle 2 / Summoner 2 AC14 (18 with ice armor, 20 in cold environs); HP 30; Percept +2, darkvision; Init +0

At Sylgja's invitation, Asgrid and Grugkt rise from the snow and openly approach the cabin. Asgrid's pretty sure she and the eidolon hadn't been fooling everyone. As most everyone gathers in, Asgrid places a hand on Grugkt's shoulder and asks him to keep watch outside. The big furry eidolon grumbles a bit but hunkers down beside the door. "Don't worry, I'll bring you some hot food, if you keep watch here."

Inside, Asgrid seems up for some troll hunting, and agrees to help with an attempt to rescue Sylgja's husband Finngarth. She reminds the group of cache of alchemist's fire, which had proven effective against trolls before.

Outside, Grugkt watches impassively as Cara creeps to the front door of the cabin. He doesn't say anything to reveal her presence, instead scanning the surrounds for anything suspicious.

At the woman's voice Asgrid pops her head up. She's just about to speak when Grugkt also starts to rouse himself from the snow. Asgrid lunges and pushes her back down, leaning an elbow on his back. "Sshh! This woman sounds scared enough, no need to frighten her further." She tries to smile winningly at the woman.

female Dwarf Oracle 2 / Summoner 2 AC14 (18 with ice armor, 20 in cold environs); HP 30; Percept +2, darkvision; Init +0

Asgrid spies Cara's hand signal and tries to crouch down and make herself small as possible. At the last moment she spots Grugkt, sidling curiously up towards the cabin. She calls after him with a hoarse whisper, at the last chucking a snowball at his back. The eidolon shoots back an aggrieved glance but sprawls himself flat beside a snowbank.

Asgrid is immensely relieved when Orm is recovered and the wolves killed or driven off. She hopes the young boy realizes how close he came to becoming a snack.

The experience, and the following journey across the plain, leaves Asgrid likewise quiet. She spied Cara's concern for the boy and the care with which the elf helped Orm down from the tree. It seemed to create a conflict in the archer's heart. Asgrid ached to reach out to her, to ease that conflict.

She also kept an eye on Grugkt. She was still cominig to terms with her powers, and after a long period of running from her eidolon, she was glad now for his presence. However, as they slid along on their sleds she could sense him tuning in to something unseen. Every once in a while he would cock his head, as if he was listening to a voice not even she could sense. She had a inkling that it was somehow linked to her healing powers - and where had they come from? It was all a mystery.

With a full party again, I'm contemplating giving Grugkt a chance for a holiday, and focus on the opportunity to employ some of Asgrid's other abilities.

When the party spies the cabin, Asgrid crouches down as Cara scouts ahead. However, assuming all is well she rehearses some words to allay fears.

Asgrid pauses for a moment to make sure her ice armor has activated. Then she hurtles forward up to Grugkt's side, and tries to slam her pick into the hide of one of the strange wolves. Her stumpy legs sink in the snow, throwing off her swing.

If she hasn't done so already, Asgrid will turn on her ice armor revelation. Thanks for running Asgrid and Grugkt, ended up with a busy period over the past week.

Between Cara and Skane we should be able to find the kid, good rolls!

"Someone at least should stay here at camp in case he comes back. Apart from that it'd make sense to split up to cover more ground, unless Cara finds tracks quickly."

female Dwarf Oracle 2 / Summoner 2 AC14 (18 with ice armor, 20 in cold environs); HP 30; Percept +2, darkvision; Init +0

"Don't worry Nadya, Mjoli, we'll find Orm. He can't have gotten far." Asgrid enlists Grugkt's aid to help Cara look for tracks.

Asgrid casts a look sideways to Cara and then Geedra before she begins. "Well. We've come from Taldor, far to the south. There we found a dying warrior who called himself Black Midnight. He claimed to be an outrider for no less than Baba Yaga herself!" Asgrid trusts that the two Ulfen have heard of the old witch. "Before he died the warrior charged us with finding Baba Yaga, as she has been imprisoned by Queen Elvanna of Irrisen. None of us are keen on the witches, but Elvanna plans to make the whole of Golarion a frozen wasteland under her power, and Black Midnight said freeing Baba Yaga was the only way to stop her. We hope to find her dancing hut, and if we throw if we place some of her keys into the cauldron their power might show us to the way to where Baba Yaga is imprisoned. The lock of frost giant hair and a mask we have are two of those keys."

Asgrid shrugs her shoulders, as though considering whether she's revealed too much. Then she picks up her gear. "Let's get moving. I didn't like those crows one bit, and it feels a bit exposed out here on the snowfield." She scans the skies again.

Asgrid pulls back, leaving the newcomers to it. "Yes, it was mysterious. When the rider died, it was like we were each remade. He he, the yeti and our, eh, pet puki we had around before then."

She scans the horizon. "Cara's right. We may not be safe out here. We are travelling to Whitethrone. If you are as well, why don't we travel on and continue our conversation along the way?"

Grugkt seems to have lost interest in the pieces of the gremlin that he was playing with. He tosses the remains to the side and starts digging in the snow in the hunt for food.

female Dwarf Oracle 2 / Summoner 2 AC14 (18 with ice armor, 20 in cold environs); HP 30; Percept +2, darkvision; Init +0

Asgrid helps Cara and Geedra turn over the bodies and look for any stolen items. Pushing back the hood on her cloak, she keeps an eye on the newcomers. In the end, however, Asgrid's an optimist, and decides on trust and being a bridge to this new group of adventurers. She approaches and extends a hand. "Asgrid, Asgrid Hjalterskell. You Ulfen? From Irrisen? That one,is Grugkt. He's my companion." she turns and gestures towards Grugkt, who is gamboling in the snow and playing games with one of the gremlin corpses in a decidedly grotesque fashion. She then turns and her hand takes in Cara and Geedra. "Our elf is Cara Shalandrael," Asgrid leans forward and speaks in a mock whisper, "she's our talkative one. She's also a deadly shot with that bow, so don't be thinking of doing anything sneaky. And don't get between Geedra and her gold!"

Scanning the horizon, Asgrid ventures, "We've had one thing after another since we arrived in Irrisen. Is it the same for yourselves?"

female Dwarf Oracle 2 / Summoner 2 AC14 (18 with ice armor, 20 in cold environs); HP 30; Percept +2, darkvision; Init +0

Asgrid brushes her cloak's hood away from her face. Her wounded eyes are better but still on fire, excruciating. She draws another flask from her pack and tosses it at the nearest little gremlin. She's unsure about the newcomers on the other side of the battlefield, but a thought goes through her head: the enemy of my enemy... For the time being, these goblins had proved themselves thieves and enemies; she'd wait to see what the others proved themselves to be.

She yells out a dwarven battlecry, only distantly noting that she was no longer speaking Common: "Na, Choltta! Strutta ninashti prakhdilatteli!"

Aklo:

"On, Stalwarts! Death to our enemies!"

Good to be back! Stay put, and thrown another flask of alchemist's fire at nearest target.

Blood streams into Asgrid's eyes from several gashes, rendering her unable to see. The pain is terrible. The crows seem to be everywhere! Katie and Skane, I was at work at the time but I think you should both have access now. Let me know if you continue to have trouble. Anyone else I'll look out for your requests and try to get you added promptly.

Alternatively, I've tried transferring a copy of the list to DropBox which I've been using lately. Can everyone see that? If that works better we can use it instead, or failing that I'll just post it all here in a spoiler. I think with DropBox you can comment but might not be able to edit the list.

Cara I'll get the spear and cloak added back to the list.

Took a bit longer than expected, but I've compiled a treasure list of loot obtained thus far. If you want to check the link here, let me know if you can see the list okay, it's my first time using Google Docs.

The first half shows items that were claimed by particular members of the party. The rest was liquidated and shared out amongst the party at the time. Not sure what you want to do with Kronek's items, if he keeps them or if someone else is claiming them.

The second half (after the red line) lists what we've hoarded since. Items highlighted in bold are those specifically claimed by members of the party, items highlighted in blue are those purchased along the way or traded away in Waldby. The rest is up for grabs or to be divided up when we have the opportunity.

Skane or Katie, would either of you have an interest in being party treasurer? I'll fill the role, but I'm not a very organised or efficient treasure meister.

Main Party & GM:
Cruising along on the dog sleds, Asgrid's content with Grugkt back, manifested in this existence. The furry eidolon lounges back, enjoying the sensation of of the rushing wind in his face, the sprinting dogs, and the bleak landscape. Every so often he reaches down a long arm, scoops up a handful of snow and hurls the snowball at Geedra or Cara, to their consternation. At Mjoli or Orm, which is generally better received.

Asgrid feels a pang at leaving behind Kronek, Hestrig, and some of the others that the group had gotten to know in Waldby. She hopes for the big Kellid's swift recovery, and that the bloodrager stays safe from Queen Elvanna's revenge. During the rest stops, she helps Nadya keep track of the children and helps with the dogs as much as she is able.

When the crows gather and attack, Asgrid agrees with Geedra's tactics and reaches for a flask of alchemist's fire. She also draws out a flask of liquid ice, not sure which will be more effective.

Asgrid is saddened to hear about Kronek, and offers to help Brother Halzberg tend to him before the party leaves. "The best thing for him really is to stay and rest and recover. We'll miss him though. We wouldn't have survived the tower or our other perils without him." She offers the cleric the scroll of remove curse that the group discovered in the ice troll's lair.

Making plans with Nadya, she agrees with Cara's sentiment. "Of course you can come with us. It will be dangerous, but we'll face that danger together." Asgrid shows everyone the lock of frost giant's hair, and reminds the group that Kronek had taken possession of the other portal key.

Good way for Kronek to fade into the background. Asgrid would like to put in for a healing kit and replenish bolts for her crossbow (take 10). She'll also take the time in the morning to summon Grugkt and heal him back up to full strength. I'll roll for spells, in case we have any encounters today and it becomes an issue.

"Agreed. Let's go to Whitethrone." Asgrid invites Nadya to join the conversation. "How many days travel to Whitethrone from here?"

Whitethrone sounds like a bigger place!

Asgrid wakes, troubled by her dream. She reaches over to her pack, drawing out the lock of white hair. One of the two keys the party received from the dark rider, Black Midnight. The lock of hair and the plague mask. The rider had said that they were keys, and had to be thrown into the cauldron of the hut. Was it all connected?

The dwarf is touched by the gifts from the villagers of Heldren, especially Heldrid. At first she tries to refuse the rod and amulet, then realizes that to do so might cause even more hurt than to accept them. "Really, I can't accept, these are family heirlooms..." Eventually though she takes them with what she hopes is good grace.

Concerning preparations, Asgrid's main concern is summoning Grugkt back to this realm and using her magic to heal him back to full strength. Apart from that, Asgrid takes advantage of some free time in the morning to inventory the pile of treasure that the group has been slowly accumulating. Her eyes gleam with dwarven greed as she tallies coins in a corner away from public view.

Stalled with compiling treasure list, nearly there just up to where we entered the white tower. In the mean time we've traded some of the items away last time we were in Heldren, but basically we have enough coin to cover any mundane item you want to buy. Funny thing is, how many times in discussion we noted "is anyone making a treasure list? We really oughta keep track of this.."

Asgrid gratefully accepts the food and the chance to rest. She's famished. She makes a point of remembering to leave aside some stew for the domovoi, the spirit of the house. She also enquires after the health of Heldred, who had been suffering from glacier plague and was being looked after by Brother Halzberg.

"I agree. Let's get some rest now while we can, but move on soon as we can tomorrow. But which direction? Cara, you mentioned when we were looking at that globe in the tower that there were more of these portals and ley lines connecting them. Were there any others near here? Maybe we should try to thwart Queen Elvanna's plans by shutting more of these portals down."

Asgrid checks on Kronek's recovery and offers to take watch through the night. However, she feels like she could sleep a week.

Sounds like a good plan, thanks for running the game, super excited that we've finished part 1. Hope the move goes well, I'll use the time to finish up the treasure list, I've been taking my time going through the campaign thread to make sure that everything we've acquired so far has been accounted for. It's been good fun reading some of the old posts.

I'll check again with my buddy about joining the game, when I last spoke to him I thought he'd maybe had a rethink about joining a play by post game, but I'll try again. We could always also try a short recruitment thread. Or, if anyone's been following this thread and wants to join in the fun - send a PM to our GM now!

GM, my Spellcraft and Arcana checks were specifically intended towards Geedra's suggestion of investigating how to close down the winter-causing portal. Could that apply towards deciphering the writings, and help Geedra with her own roll? I was pretty stoked with the results in any case.

"Yes, the woman in the aviary. If you think we should attend to her now rather than later, alright. I've used up most of my spellpower, but we can use some of these scrolls and potions, I am sure. Geedra's right, though. Kronek can't come with us, we'll need to find somewhere safe that he can rest and make sure that he's stable. What about here?"

Okay, I'll see if I can put together a google doc spreadsheet. I'll need to see about making a google account, I've recently been using Dropbox for my other games, would that provide the same features? Would the google doc mean that we can all amend the document?

Asgrid's immediate action is to help Kronek. As she checks over his wounds, her mind whirs as she casts about what magic might have embodied by the blue-black light. Nothing comes to mind.

At Cara's description, Asgrid looks up. "I'm not sure if I have anything immediately that would restore his strength. Maybe if we get a chance to rest I can attempt healing him again and help him recover. We should find somewhere safe to hide out, he's gonna be a heavy lug to try to carry around."

Excellent wand! That sounds the perfect thing for Geedra. Cara I'm happy if you want to claim the amulet and/or cloak, though if you're just claiming one I wonder whether Grugkt could benefit from the amulet - Asgrid wonders how he might react if she told him it was a collar. I'm more curious to see the content of the books and what's behind the hidden door. The potion would be good to keep in store for our frontline fighters, but who best to hold on to it? Cara? Hestrig? Geedra?

Asgrid watches the battle unfold. Grugkt, if only you were here! She makes a decision, drawing the handaxe from Old Man Dansby. She rushes forward, waving the blade in the air to get the ice dragon's attention. "Hey! Come chew on this, if you dare!" She slashes at the dragon statue, but the handaxe just bounces off the ice. Mmm, maybe I didn't think this through...

Definitely sounds like it would be worth coming back to this room if we get a chance! Asgrid would be interested to take a closer look at the items (papers? books?) of the lab.

Asgrid has a quick glance around. In the finely appointed bedroom she tries to get a glimpse of the other teleporter. She tries to determine where it might lead. "Do you want to check this one out now, or investigate that last door first?"

What a score! Especially the cauldron, sorry now that I tried to destroy it. The items will be good to divide up, if we're fighting Radosek again I'd maybe like to keep a thunderstone and a tanglefoot bag handy. I think I'm good for alchemists' fire, but I love these kinds of goodies so I'll happily take whatever's not claimed. Asgrid watches Radosek sail away through the window. She then returns to Kronek's side and kneels down beside the bloodrager. She channels more healing energy into him. She slaps him on the back as he raises himself up. "Come on, soldier! You had us worried there for a minute."

Kronek healed, Asgrid glances over at Grugkt. Fur matted, blood spattered and chest heaving, it suddenly becomes apparent to her that these skirmishes had been taking their toll on the eidolon. He might not survive another fight. She goes up to the eidolon and lays a hand on the side of his face. "Thank you for your help. Now, go. There's nothing more you can do here. I'll call you back, I promise." Grugkt's eyes widen and he starts to protest, but Asgrid dismisses him and he vanishes back to his planar home. His tormented howl echoes around the room. Realized that I'd not been noting current hit points in my posts since we levelled up, Grugkt was down to 1hp and I'm tapped out for summoner spell slots. Dismissed him so that I can call on summon ability, will bring him back when I can heal him up.

Once things are settled, Asgrid examines the burning cauldron a bit more closely, as well as the papers on the table.

Dismiss Grugkt. Cast CLW on Kronek. I have one more oracle spell slot left, anyone else need healing? I can put channel it into Kronek otherwise.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 - Result! With earlier spell I think that puts the big guy up to +7hp.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 - Not sure that anyone else was needing healing, if not then cast this on Kronek to raise him to 17hp.

At the moment would love to heal Kronek from 0, but I agree with Cara I think it's fair that the negative hit points need healed first. Thanks Geedra for catching the CLW bonus, that was some miss-typing there.

After applying her healing magic Asgrid looks over Kronek's prone form. He was still unconscious but his condition seemed stable for the moment, he was breathing normally. She looks up at Radosek and as she does so she grabs up her shortspear and takes a step forward. With a cry she hurls it at the levitating witch.

Take 5 foot step south just behind Hestrig. Throw spear.
Ranged w/ shortspear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Grugkt meanwhile casts vainly about for a way to get at Radosek. He jogs up to the wall behind the man and begins trying to climb up the ice sculpture standing there, using the wall for support. A few more feet and he might be able to grab the human. His claws cause the ice to sliver and break.

Move 30 feet down to the square labelled 15 feet. Try to climb up to reach Radosek, not sure how tall the sculpture is. Even if it's not tall enough, Grugkt is hoping he can either jump and catch the guy's legs or that it's just enough to distract or scare him. Employing Geedra's fortune hex.

Grugkt Climb check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Grugkt Climb check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 - I'll take the second roll

Asgrid's eyes go wide as Kronek drops to his knees and collapses to the floor. She dashes over to the Kellid's side and examines the icy wounds. It looks tricky, he seems to be at death's door.

GM just asking, were you intending on taking Kronek out of the game at this point? Asgrid's instinct would be to try to lay on a CLW, but if you were wanting to retire him from the game I'll hold off. Assuming that Asgrid should get healy, I'll roll a CLW, but feel free to disregard.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Grugkt continues to pummel the elemental, seeing that he was hammering bits out of it.

Stepping from the teleporter, Asgrid takes in the scene around her. Kronek and Hestrig weren't wasting any time diving into the fray. Asgrid is about to do the same, but her attention is caught by the boiling cauldron from whence the ice elementals sprang. Don't want any more of those appearing! She reaches into her pack and draws out a flask of alchemist's fire and flings it at the cauldron.

5 foot step down and to the right, which I think puts Asgrid about 20 feet from the cauldron. Move action to draw flask, and throw.
alchemist's fire: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 2 = 11 - includes penalty for extra range increment.
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

At the same time, Grugkt wades into battle too. He leaps around the stalagmite and tries to bash one of the elementals with his burly forearm.

5 foot step, down and to the right as well. Attempt slam attack on the elemental beside the wooden table.
slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Of course Cara, Asgrid casts Magic Weapon on bow.

Asgrid watches Hestrig make her preparations, then makes some of her own. She activates her ice armor and uses her wand to enchant everyone's weapons. She casts a spell on Grugkt to give him an edge in fighting magical opponents. "Cara's right, Grugkt. You and Kronek are going to be our first strike, and that Radosek's bound to have some magical defences." Preparations complete, she hefts her shield. "Alright, ready. Let's go."

Activate ice armor ability (AC 20), cast Magic Fang (slam attack) on Grugkt, use Magic Weapon wand on anyone's weapons if they want it (including Hestrig). Let me know which weapons you want enchanted with Magic Weapon, and I'll cross the charges off. Asgrid is casting on her crossbow and handaxe.

Happy Thanksgiving! We had extended celebrations here.

Asgrid signals to Grugkt across the room, where the eidolon is experimentally shaking a book - let's go, we're moving out. "Yeah, let's go confront that Radosek, we don't want to give him any more time to plan something nasty for us."

Asgrid claps a hand to Hestrig's shoulder. "I second that. Let's clear this place of the Jadwiga. Now, have you met our friend Kronek? I think you two would get on famously. You'll be glad you didn't kill him, trust me. As Cara was suggesting, any ideas where we should head next?"

Sorry to hear about your troubles Woodsmoke, hang in there! Don't worry about the pace, I'm really happy for the chance to play.

Asgrid locks eyes with Hestrig, searching. "Queen Elvanna is powerful. The white witches are powerful. Still, they are only human. Cara there is right. When people choose to stand together against evil, it will crumble. You can make a difference here. At the least, don't stand in our way. If we succeed, then you'll be free to choose a new mistress.

Last of our visiting relatives went away yesterday, it's been great. I thought I did post up a Diplomacy check, but if another is needed I'll post it below.

"What was the name of your sire? What created the conflict between him and Elvanna? We have no love of the White Queen, but perhaps she had a reason." As she says this she watches Hestrig closely, realizing her words might be challenging.

Asgrid definitely advocates keeping the woman alive, as long as she isn't actively trying to cut the group down to size with her sword.

She listens to the interrogation, then chips in. "When we entered, you seemed intent on looking for something. What was it you were looking for? You didn't seem to see us at first."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Grugkt loiters in one corner. He takes a random book off the shelf, looks if over clumsily, sniffs it. He gives it an exploratory lick before dropping it heavily and carelessly onto the table.

I've posted this up on the other games, but just to say I have relatives coming to stay so might not get a chance to check in over the next few days. Please feel free to NPC Asgrid and Grugkt as necessary. If I don't get an opportunity to check in before, I should be back into the swing of things by the 25th.

Asgrid thanks Kronek for tying the woman up. She casts her eye over pewter flask and cloak as well, but is not able to offer any additional insights. Instead, she wanders over to the book and opens it at random. "This looks interesting. Geedra, do you like reading? Cara? If we manage to clear the witches out of this place, I'd love to come back here for a closer look."

Asgrid's impressed with the speed at which Cara and Kronek managed to take down the warrior woman. Noting the party's wounds, she heads over to Kronek and channels a Cure Light Wounds blessing on him, and bestows a lesser Rejuvenate Eidolon on Grugkt.

Afterwards, she looks down at the woman, considering. "Hmm. I say we tie her up. Maybe she can give us some helpful information as well. Speaking of which, she was dead keen on this book here, I wonder what it's about." Asgrid has a look at the book open on the table.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 points back to Kronek

Lesser Rejuvenate Eidolon: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 points back to Grugkt
