Asael silently follows along behind Rose and observes the carvings. A grave monotone voice issues from its hood as it points towards the walls. "These are prophecies of Aroden. The Farmer shows humankind preparing the earth. The Fisherman shows a great host completing a task together. The Scholar records history to share knowledge."

Here's the general idea for a tiefling fiend flayer magus. Details can be tweaked as needed.

Saamsuma the tiefling magus for consideration. He is newly arrived in Varisia, hence not being around for the beginning. He'd assist the party hoping to find knowledge of old crafting techniques to help his obsession with enchanted weapons. He is also fond of orcs and dwarves, as the majority he's met on the Material Plane lack the tiefling passion for plotting and lying which he has grown tired of.
