The last time my group and I took over some dudes, we gave them the option to stay where they're at (island or whatever) or join us. When we were down to a handful left, we thought it would be fun to have them battle it out and the survivor gets to join.

It was my idea and I figured that it would weed out the weaker sailors and leave us with a superior fighting force. Our DM had each of us play a sailor, and he threw 2 daggers in the middle. it was a fun little mini-game and he thought the whole thing was ridiculous.

Couldn't you reload using a prehensile tail(using the catfolk race), or put 2 levels in alchemist and grow an arm or tentacle(my favorite) to use for reloading? Then you wouldn't need to drop a gun to reload another.

Made an account just to see what my DM said:P I don't have a problem with bound elementals, I just don't know how that would work. As this is my first campaign, I've only studied how the druid works. I just figured having animals versus elementals went with my class better. It would give more utility to my hand animal skill.

I also never thought about the impact of storms, touche.

Paddle wheel

Correct, that is what the old Roman Ox Boat design used, but there was no good image other than an oil painting of one on google. There is a ferry boat that is what gave me the inspiration. Instead of the large disc, I was thinking like the mechanism used when raising an anchor. Same equipment and rotation, but it rotates those gears instead.

Also horses and oxen crap.

A lot.

A whole lot.

A lot more than you think.

And it's actually even more than that.

I thought that was why we had catapults?

You guys had a lot of good thoughts, I might have to stick with my dolphin chariot idea :P
