For Harlynn And anyone who gets 20+ on their Religion check. Spoiler:
You have heard of this diety before - it is Alseta, The Welcomer. She is a Lawful Neutral Goddess of Doors, Transitions and Years. Her Domains are Community, Law, Magic, Protection. Her Favored Weapon is a Dagger. For Abbas and anyone who touches the water. Spoiler: The water tingles, not unpleasantly, when you touch it.
Elinor and Abbas approach the fountain first, followed loosely by the others. The fountain is structurally sound - a solid basin decorated with sculpted leaves in the stone. Water flows from a large vase, held in place about 6 feet above the water fountain by the carved effigy of a pleasnt faced woman adorned in relatively simple clothes. The woman is a full sculpture, standing about a foot away from the wall. The oddity of the woman came with the smiling mask she wore...on the back of her head. The water, however, is fouled. A few floating rat corpses are prevalient, along with some indescrible sludge caked just under the water near the near lip. The water falling seems clean, but it immediately merges with the brackish water below, making the whole unpalatable. Religion checks are appropriate if you wish.
IMPORTANT Folks - over the past few weeks, I have left Sigil messages here, on Linkedin and to his personal account but I haven't heard from him. I'll keep pressing on for a few more weeks, but if we don't hear from him, I think we may need to have a discussion on what we want to do going forward. I'm sure he's still swamped and have every hope he will return, but I wanted to let you know what was going on.
The group edges around the corner, using Elinor's blade for a light source. At first, the hallway is empty then, as you go deeper, it starts showing the detritus of goblins and wolves living in this section of the tomb. Scat and garbage are strewn along the floor, along with the descreated remains of some of the tombs interned. The goblins were obviously using the man sized niches on either side of this portion of the hall way for sleeping. Ruined and dirty skins and blankets can be seen in many niches. The hallway bends left, and Narnel picks up a soft gurgle of water. Using extreme caution, the group turns the corner and sees a small room just after a T junction. One side (the long part of a T) turns back to the right. The top of the T ends in a room with a fountain against the far wall. You can only make out general details from here, but it seems to be an elegant fountain much abused by time and these humanoids.
Narnel invites the group to move forward, but holds up his hand to listen before they move. After a moment, he informs the group that all he hears are the ripples of water. The setting - Absolute carnage in this section of the hallway. The hall bends to the right and disappears into the darkness. Let me know your marching order and any precautions you are taking.
Pluchak - with the Bardsong add, then you hit with your Bite. With your extra hit, corrosive damage and the last bit of successful attack by Thurzhan, the troll goes down. Suddenly, the hall goes quite execpt for the crackly of fire still burning on the trolls body and the heavy breathing by the group. In quick sucession, the group faced two groups of goblins, a wave of wolves and a troll. What more could be down this hallway?
The troll, flesh crackly as fire races up and down it's body, knows it is near final death. For years, he has relied on regeneration to overcome all injuries and now it is over. Enraged, it looks at Harlynn with a hatred so strong, the look itself might kill. But Harlynn was behind several warriors and the troll didn't have time to work through them. Nearest the Troll, however, was Elinor, who bravely stepped up past the now dead wolves and struck him as well. He would take out his rage on her. The first arm, flame arcing as the claws came at Elinor, strikes the fighter/bard in a horrific blow. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 confirm 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 Does not confirm! At the last second, Elinor rotates, causing the blow to be less effective. Still, she takes claw and fire damage 1d6 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (1) = 8. The troll, hurt by flame and weapon, and off balance by Elinor's move, misses with his second claw and his Bite clamps down on Elinor's armor only to be twarted from doing damage. Claw2 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Back to start of Initiative Initiative Order - Abbas, Narnel, Bryndyn, Pluchak, Aidan, Taedric, Elinor, Harlyn, Seneca, Troll
Between the raging of Pluchak and the precision of Thurzhan and Taedric, both of the remaining wolves are dispatched with ease. The Troll, however, smiles an unholy, unhealthy grin and says "Those were my pets!" and reared back his weapon to strike. Standing Back, Harlynn calls upon her magica energies to send forth a scorching ray and is shocked at how effective it is. The ray hits the troll square in the chest and the beast immolates. Just as the fire and flame crawl up and down it's body, Elinor hits it for more damage. It screams in anger and pain but isn't down and out yet. Seneca - you have your action before the Troll attacks. It's clear he's burning and in trouble, but his flaming arms & claws are about to start swinging.
First one goblin goes down, and then the last as Abbas gives the group a brilliant display of prowess. Nearby, narnel as snuck into range, studied one of the wolves and let fly. Just as his arrow strikes true, Bryndyn also hits. Both wolves cry out in pain, but neither go down. Suddenly, from around the corner, a large troll emerges. It laughes as it sees the carnage in the hallway and its pets now attacking a group of adventurers it didn't know about. It seems a bit mad, with drool dripping from it's open mouth and puss oozing from various open sores. "Kill them all" it bellows in a gutteral common tongue. Pluchak, Aidan, Taedric, Elinor, Harlyn, Seneca. Wolves, Troll
Initiative Order - Abbas, Narnel, Bryndyn, Large Goblin, Pluchak, Goblins, Aidan, Taedric, Elinor, Harlyn, Seneca. Aidan readies his weapon in case something comes free he can attack, but points at the spider and his big cat leaps and crushes it in his mighty jaws. Green goo explodes from between those teeth and the spider is in dire straits. (It will take two rounds to kill it, but I'm assuming that is what the Big Cat will do) Taedric charges forward and uses the reach of his lance to attack the Big Goblin Summoner. Perched on his mount, the Cavalier easily skewers the monster in a way that leaves half the goblin smeared against the wall. Elinor successfully intimidates the remaining goblins. As they begin to back up, Harlyns acid splash kills the one Bryndyn had damaged and her dogs takes out another. With just two left, Seneca thinks about casting bane, but holds off for a moment. With fewer goblins, the sounds from down the hallway are growing. Within seconds, 5 large wolves come bounding around the corner. Seneca finishes his Bane spell just as they attack. 2 Goblins Saves 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
5 Wolf Saves 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
With Elinor's Intimidate, one of the Goblin's fail, while the other one gather's his wits and begins to retreat. He is met, however, but the wolf that also saved. 4 of the Wolves fail and are affected by the Bane. A second wolf attacks the remaining goblin while three wolves attack the party. It's easy to note that they are all wearing collars and one has a leash streaming from the collar. Wolf attacks retreating Goblin 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 if damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Both Goblins Die to the wolves. None of the PC's are hit. New Initiative Round starts with Abbas, who hasn't been attacked yet. Wolves slot in at end.
The spider is walking on the wall next to Bryndyn. I think, unless thurzhan jumps, that he won't be able to reach. Taedric does not have a clear charge lane. (Although I may not realize what you need) .
___________
______ This is a very rough approximation of the situation. Bryndyn is standing next to a wounded Goblin. Spider is on wall next to him. Big Goblin behind. Abbas is in front of a dead goblin, with several in ranks behind. Narnel took out the DG on corner. With another behind. Note that there is space between the wall opposite the spider... and the hall way turns the corner. Dots are spacers
Pluchak easily cuts down another gobin, leaving 4 plus the large goblin and the spider. Bryndyn and Abbas, being in the front rank, are attacked 2 times each. On Bryndyn 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 short sword attack 1 if hit damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
On Abbas 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 short sword attack 1 if hit damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Each are hit once... remaining initiative Aidan, Taedric, Elinor, Harlyn, Seneca.
At this point, the large goblin begins to speak in his gutteral language. He shakes a totem and raises his hands, and suddenly, a large spider seems to appear clinging to the wall above his head. It scurry's forward and attacks the nearest opponent - Bryndyn. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 attack
Bryndyn is missed. Pluchak is up, then the remaining goblins.
Initiative Order
Narnal has enough time and stealth to move into the shadows on the left side of the tunnel. Elinor initiates Bard Song as her free action. The rest of you ready weapons and wait for the group to turn the corner. The goblins do so, but upon seeing your group, they rush to the corner, the large goblin with his back to corner and the six other goblins packed tightly around him and leaving half the hallway open. --- Perception checks of 22 or higher only will hear Spoiler:
The sound of growling and the clicking of claws on stone can be heard faintly down the hallway over the din of what is going on around you. On your turn, you can do a perception check in addition to your actions. If you do 'hear something', you can take a free speach action. Abbas, then Narnel is up. You both are within 30 feet of the goblins who are packed into the corner, but have weapons ready.
Narnel moves forward, with Elinor and Taedric immediately following. Elinor's sword provides some light, but she is careful to keep it from showing too much around the corner before Narnel has his look. Narnel kneels, and peers quickly around the corner. He sees 6 more goblins rushing down the hallway, being driven by a much larger goblin. Once again, he sees them peer over their shoulders. He pulls back and tells the group what he saw... ---- Everyone gets a quick free action, and then provide an initiative roll. The goblins will be around the corner in moments.
As the Dogs keep snapping at the hapless Goblins, Elinor shrugs off a minor hit to perform her Dazzling Display. It is hyper effective and the Goblins, harrassed by dogs, decimated by the groups attacks, and their moral shattered...finally turn tail and run. As they do so, the dogs follow. While four of the five do manage to get around the corner, all of them are brought down by the Celestrial dogs and killed. Echo's reverberate throughout the hall as the melee enters its final phase until suddenly all is quiet. Eerily quiet. Elinor, I did confirm. Just double the Hit Point damage (to 4). Also, I'll need to reach out to Sigil to see how he's doing and get some next steps... Hang tight. Feel free to do some after combat clearnup/dialog.
As Aidan points, first one, then another bow warps and cracks. As they do, a sharp twang highlights the moment when the bow string snaps as well. The goblins look back, obviously afraid of something, and then redouble their efforts to fight their way through the large group. assuming the dogs are gone now Attacks on Pluchak, Elinor, Abbas and Taedric Attack on Pluchak 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 if hit 1d4 ⇒ 4
