"Fire chain shot at the masts and prepare to ram. Our best advantage will be to get on their deck as quickly as possible."

Arjun is pleased to see a mutually beneficial agreement. After all, you can rob the dead but once.

"Let's escort the newest citizens of our island to their new home. THEN we go a'pirating."

Arjun narrows his eyebrows in thought. "Hey, Captain. Do you reckon we could use a colony on our new island?"

The smartest theft is taxes.

"Ladies and gentlemen, you really want to work with the captain. Because if you don't, you will work with me, and I will start with the children."

"The impertinence." Arjun shakes his head. "I have no desire to drop into a dark mass of knives and desperate men. I think we should get the ship carpenter over here to nail down planks over the hatches. We seal them inside the hold, and sail it to the nearest port. We can sell the boat with a shipment of slaves already packed!"

Arjun points to a few crewmen and barks out orders. "Circle the hatches and stick anything that pokes it's head out. The rest of you get some crates from our hold and stack them on top of their hatches." He looks around and rubs his chin in thought. "Do we have any smokesticks?"

"If my ship was being pursued by handsome pirates, and I lacked the strength for a direct fight, I would wait below deck. Sharp knives in the dark can level the playing field... Which is why I suggest we do not play their game. Ideaaaaa! We move some heavy crates over the hatches and wait them out. Why use steel when hunger and thirst can be our weapons?"

Arjun nods in approval, and begins a series of warmup stretches as the ships approach each other.

IIRC, our DM is military (Navy?) so he would get everything packed and moved for free.

"Sandara for governor. Fishguts for lieutenant governor. The giant for constable. Now let's get to pirating!"

I vote for Sandara.

"Agreed! Let's go fatten our purses." Arjun is ready to sail.

Arjun enjoys the pomp and circumstance of the proceeding, trying his best to keep a silly grin off of his face.

Afterwards, he quietly inquires with other pirate lords if they have a recommendation for a haberdasher. After all, how can you call yourself a pirate lord without a cunning hat?

Arjun doesn't have any other preparations to make, other than ensuring Mr. Whiskers makes it on board their ship. He returns after escorting the ratman and finding a babysitter to make certain he doesn't try to escape.

"Looks that way, captain. Hopefully our show of competence will be enough to sway their opinion."

"Sounds like a plan, boss lady." Arjun turns to the ratman. "Eel, good news! You get to- wait a minute." He rubs at the stubble on his chin in thought. "Eel. Eel? Eel? No, I don't like that name." He sheathes his dagger and claps the prisoner on the thigh. "We're going to keep calling you Mr. Whiskers. That is a much better name for you. It is playful and clever and I love it. Also, my dagger named you, and I don't think you want to insult it." He begins to untie the ratman. "Now, where was I? Oh, yes. Mr. Whiskers, good news! You get to live another day! If you are cooperative and useful, we will see that you continue to live and receive a fair share of booty as a member of our crew."

He finishes untying the prisoner. "And if you aren't, I will take the rest of your toes. And fingers. And teeth, and ears, and then tie you to the prow like a mermaid. Are we good?"

Arjun counts fingers as he asks questions.

Arjun gives a little bow. "Why, certainly, Master of Gales. I never mind an audience."

The vishkanya hauls the unconscious ratman to a nearby tree and sets him down, propping him up with his back to the trunk. He is economic in his movements, straightening his captive's limbs and brushing sand from his clothes. "There we are. Any job worth doing is worth doing well." He kneels beside the ratman in the sand in a lotus position. He closes his eyes and takes deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. He reaches to his back and retrieves his dagger. "Ah, my little dagger. It has been too long. It is time to introduce you to a new friend. His name is Mr. Whiskers for now. I hope you like him."

Arjun regards his captive for a moment, then announces, "Alright, Mr. Whiskers. Time to wake up." He reaches down, grips a pinkie toe, and slices it off.

The obvious occurs. Arjun is patient. The screaming, the cursing, the bargaining and pleading -- all these things must be met with silence. Calm serenity. They must never be in control. Only when they are exhausted and docile do you speak. "You know things that I want to know. I am willing to hurt you for this information. I hope you have no doubts regarding my resolve as we move forward. I will ask you nine questions. If you answer to my complete satisfaction, nothing happens. For every question you do not answer to my complete satisfaction, I will cut off a toe. You will be healed after every cut to ensure you do not bleed to death. How many toes you retain is entirely your decision."

Arjun idly tests the edge of his dagger with his thumb. "Do you require any further clarification?"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37 Aw yiss.

Arjun gets a firm grip on the ratman and hoists him onto his shoulder like a sack. "I'm going to escort this gentleman to the ship. I will let you know when we are done talking."

Arjun waves to the approaching men. "Bring some line and tie up this gentleman. I think that Mr. Whiskers and I are going to have a nice talk together."

I know, right? And this round he has to save again to avoid falling unconscious.

Arjun is spurred to action by the explosions and the appearance of a mysterious semi-invisible enemy. "I'm guessing that he is our culprit." He rushes forward and tries to skewer the figure.

I believe I am ready. I used the average wealth of the other party members as a guide for my equipment.

We can say that Arjun was taking a background role during this time.

It appears that Suny has pursued the Ninja path. Would it be alright if I tweaked my character for better party balance? I would leave his personality the same.

Hey everybody! Glad to be back. I am going to get my character ready ASAP. I just need to advance him a few levels and make a few tweaks (a lot of new material has come out).

Dear Everyone,

I am posting this to all of my games. I'm sorry for my lack of communication. Life has been dumping on me.

My work load is still overwhelmingly heavy, and we had a major medical scare in my family. My son had a relatively simple case of strep throat, and we learned the hard way that he is allergic to penicillin. Very allergic. We've been dealing with medical issues for over a week now.

I will be going on inactive status for a short while. I need to get things in order and I barely have time in my daily schedule to eat dinner with my family let alone do any gaming. Between too much work, finishing my dissertation, and my son's health, I have too much on my plate.

If you feel the need to replace my character, I understand. I will reach out to you when things settle down to see if there is still an opening. Probably in a few weeks.

Hello, everyone.

I am swamped at work right now. I am preparing a grant proposal single-handed this week (yes, they gave me a week to finish it) and my free time has disappeared. I'm sorry if I've been absent/slow in posting. I will be finished today, and catch up this weekend with posting. I am sorry for the interruption and thank you for being understanding.

Not wanting to catch whatever sickness of the mind afflicts Suny, Arjun busies himself with preparing the ship to sail.

"I didn't hit you that hard in the head."

"I did that. An enchantment spell. You shouldn't have any dain bramage."

"Wheee!" Arjun dumps the creature over the side of the ship and watches as it sinks into the briny deep. "Hmm? Oh, I believe Suny is in need of attention. It might be quite a while before she wakes up."

Arjun stands above the Sacristan and wallops it in the back of the head with his sap every 10 seconds or so. "Find something heavy. A cannonball, or a barrel filled with grain. We can chain him to it and let him sink over the edge of the boat. No fuss, no muss."
