In answer to previous questions, the only thing that's probably a 'safe' read for players of the AP is the article about the tieflings. Sorry, guys.

Let's hope that the player's guide offers some good stuff about Westcrown when it comes out on Thursday.

Hi folks,

So, I've got one PBP taking off, but I definitely have time now to run a second, and I'd love to run some PCs through the latest AP, Council of Thieves. It's too early to actually make characters yet, becuase we're waiting for A)The rules and B)The Player's Guide. So, for now, I'm just looking for names to be thrown in the ring. Also, be aware that I try to run a game that is driven by characters and story, not stats.

I'd be shocked if we can't get more than six interested people, so please understand that I'll do a random draw to see who gets in. (And yet, I still know someone will post saying 'Are you full yet?'...please don't be that person. ;)

So, if you'd like to traipse about Westcrown and partake of the first AP to make use of the PFRPG rules, please just give a holler. It'll be fun!

Okay, players, let's get to work on character concepts and backgrounds!

Back in February, I recruited for a PBP here, but real life issues forced me to hand over the reins to another DM before things could get off the ground (thanks to Steve Geddes/Monty Haul for doing a stellar job with that, by the way!) In any case, things have settled down now, and I'm ready to try again.

I'd like to run a group of five PCs through Beyond the Vault of Souls. I'd run this with PFRPG rules, so we're still a couple of weeks away from character creation. But, I thought I'd get out and see how much interest there would be in a 9th level planar adventure. It should be terrific good fun, Colin McComb has written a real gem for us! I'd really like to run a fairly fast-paced game, and I am very into good characterization and storytelling. Prospective players should feel the same. If this sounds like fun to you, throw your hat in the ring! It won't be first-come, first served, so don't be shy even if you're not one of the first to notice this announcement. I'll do a random draw for five players if we get more interest than that.

Now, who wants to do a little plane-hopping?

All right, so we've got a group of players! Let's get cracking on character sheets. Please create the sheets as an alias for yourself, here on the Paizo boards. If you're not sure about how to do this, I'll be happy to help...as I'm sure will the others who have done this sort of thing before. You can also just follow the links back by clicking the character's name in about any PBP thread here, and you'll see how it's done.

As stated, starting characters are 6th level, statted up using a 20 point buy (don't forget to adjust for racial mods and give your PC the 4th level ability score bump as well!)

For character wealth, total equipment should come to 16,000 gp, with a single-item limit of about 5,000 gp.

I will give your character his/her hit point total, so don't worry about that yet.

If you want to use a tool that makes the character creation process a million times easier, check out the downloadable character sheets on this website! Pathfinder adVance and sCore are wonderful, imo.

For character backgrounds, keep in mind that everyone should be in Sothis, Osirion's captital, and ready to go treasure hunting. Jalden Krenshar is the local Pathfinder Society venture-captain, and she has paid all of the necessary duties for the PCs to enter Osirion and participate in the race for plunder. In return, the Society asks for a map or journal worthy of the Pathfinder Societty tradition, and 10% of the value of any antiquities found. I think we'll open things up with a traditional 'meet and greet' to get everyone acquainted, then we'll jump into the module proper.

Okay, I'm here to help and answer questions. Just let me know how things are going.

Hi folks!

Having been a lurker amongst the PbP threads here for a few weeks now, I've failed my will save and wish to try my hand at running a Pathfinder Beta game myself. Part of my motivation is to give the ruleset a spin, but mostly I just want to get some game on, become a part of this amazing community, and have fun. By way of introduction, let me say that my name is Brian and I've been loving this game they call D&D since I got a red box Basic set (with the awesome Larry Elmore red dragon) for Christmas in 1983. I was 10 then, 35 now, and I've spent plenty of time Dming and playing the numerous editions of D&D ever since. I got wind of Paizo by picking up a Dungeon mag around the time they converted to 3rd edition, and I've been hooked since.

So, for this game I thought I'd try to cover something that doesn't look like it's been done a lot on these boards. Namely, an adventure set in Osirion, and what better way to fire it up than with Michael Kortes' extremely cool Entombed With the Pharaohs module. If it goes well, I'd be more than happy to transition into its 'sequel', The Pact Stone Pyramid as well.

We'll need 5 or 6 committed players who aren't afraid of a little sand in their britches. Starting level is 6th, and I'd like to keep things fairly simple, holding as closely to PF Beta rules as possible. We'll be opening under the assumption that the PCs have been assembled under the auspices of the Pathfinder Society for an amazing opportunity to explore a legendary pyramid, recently unearthed in a violent sandstorm. PCs could be native to Osirion, or they could be 'foreigners' from Varisia or elsewhere. Some of them may have adventured together in the past, if you like. We'll talk more about character creation mechanics as things progress, I'm more interested in ideas right now...but freely ask questions if you have them.

For now, just express your interest, and throw out a character concept or two. It would be great if you introduced yourself a little bit too, maybe with some gaming history, other (player or DM) activity on the boards, stuff like that. If more than six people express a desire to play, I may draw names or I may simply choose based on the concepts (those that interest me the most, seem most to fit best for the adventure, that sort of thing). It won't be first come first serve, though, so it's not a race. Think it over, you'll have a couple of days, at least.

One caveat is that you should know I'm somewhat technically impaired, so I can't promise fancy graphics and combat maps (though I'd like to try). I'd rather focus more on storytelling and characterization anyway. So there will probably be times we run combat AD&D style, without a battle map. So, it that's a turnoff, best to know now.

All right, enough babbling from me. Who's interested in giving this a go?
