BIO: A middle-aged man from Hell's Kitchen, Rufus Dale Mason was born into poverty to a textile-worker father and a choral director mother. An only child, he was inspired to pursue the medical arts when an accident at the textile factory stole his father's arm. Over the course of his life, he has displayed a single-minded pursuit of his goals. He excelled in school and secured a valuable scholarship, earning his doctorate at an incredible rate. Before long he was on call at a prestigious New York hospital as a top surgeon and respected professional.
When the LHC was turned on, Rufus didn't feel anything but a mild vibration in the roof of his mouth. However, all the electrical equipment around him promptly shorted and blew out. Since then, Rufus has discovered that he has the power to control electricity, even going so far as to use it as a medium to connect to electric devices with his mind.
Rufus' parents have long since passed away. He has an ex-wife, Holly Fletcher-Mason who left him because of his workaholic nature, and a young son, Archer Mason, over whom his wife has full custody.
Rufus has loosened up noticeably since his work for Heavy Lifting began, perhaps because he is no longer on call and has a variety of stress relief in his daily life (i.e., beating up the bad guys).
He has a cat named Stonemason.
LIKES: Music (Beethoven, Gregg Karukas, Frank Sinatra, The Temptations), buying souvenirs for his son, eggs benedict, long walks on the beach (no, seriously), people calling him "Dr. Mason" or "Doc", a hot cup of coffee on a cold autumn morning, the warm feeling of helping someone in need, and the collected works of Chaucer.
DISLIKES: Music (rap, hip-hop and country), people calling him "Mr. Mason" or "Ruf", pork, people without a doctorate telling him his business and the damn kids today.
