| Anthony Zamparelli |
Of average intelligence but athletically and charismatically gifted, Anthony did well in his studies and soon found theater as a life-long passion. At first, he was fascinated by the glamor, but what truly hooked him was the appeal of becoming another person, if only for a while, and to truly live another life. As a poor boy from a poor family, he seemed an unlikely thespian but his charm and obvious talent got him in the door. He’s begun to even gain a small local following of fans. Ever empathic, he uses whatever fame or recognition he has to bring attention to poor or needy people or social issues The boy from the slums isn’t going to forget where he came from.
It was through the theater he found something that shaped the other half of his double life. Assigned to go through the troupe’s old costumes for items needing repair or to be foisted onto some rich mark. It was a boring task, given before he’d even begun to be accepted. But it ended up being a fateful task.
One costume stood out from all the others. Red and black tights and tunic with a red and white mask that covers the entire head save for holes for the eyes and mouth. Touching it thrilled Anthony. He knew this was something special. He fumbled to get it on and is mind raced as theater and his long-suppressed desires came boiling to the top. He was no longer Anthony Zamparelli, kind-hearted actor and activist. He was Assassino di Diavoli, the Killer of Devils!
Whenever the system let’s a bully live consequence-free, now there is someone--or something!--that will mete out justice. Strangling, slashing, stabbing ...in the shadows of Kintargo the evil are met with something just as vicious. And though some think him a mad serial killer, others see him as the embodiment of the rage of the downtrodden. Either way, wherever he goes, bloody death comes with him!
I wanted to put a twist on traditional superhero origins with a heaping helping of Italian giallo/horror and lucha libre. By day Anthony is an up-and-coming actor and activist for social issues and the poor. But by night he dons the mask of Assassino di Diavoli, the Man Who Murders the Cruel!
