Background:
Anthony Zamparelli was born to Lisa and Benjamin Zamparelli, two humble but loving parents who lived their whole lives in Kintargo. Even as a child, he showed remarkable empathy. When the truth about what happened to his childhood friend, abducted and abused by supposedly pious Asmodeans, truly sunk in he became all-to aware of the world’s injustice. The good but weak get punished, but the vile and powerful flourish. This trauma and thought eventually shaped him to the man he is today. Rather, into the men he is today.

Of average intelligence but athletically and charismatically gifted, Anthony did well in his studies and soon found theater as a life-long passion. At first, he was fascinated by the glamor, but what truly hooked him was the appeal of becoming another person, if only for a while, and to truly live another life. As a poor boy from a poor family, he seemed an unlikely thespian but his charm and obvious talent got him in the door. He’s begun to even gain a small local following of fans. Ever empathic, he uses whatever fame or recognition he has to bring attention to poor or needy people or social issues The boy from the slums isn’t going to forget where he came from.

It was through the theater he found something that shaped the other half of his double life. Assigned to go through the troupe’s old costumes for items needing repair or to be foisted onto some rich mark. It was a boring task, given before he’d even begun to be accepted. But it ended up being a fateful task.

One costume stood out from all the others. Red and black tights and tunic with a red and white mask that covers the entire head save for holes for the eyes and mouth. Touching it thrilled Anthony. He knew this was something special. He fumbled to get it on and is mind raced as theater and his long-suppressed desires came boiling to the top. He was no longer Anthony Zamparelli, kind-hearted actor and activist. He was Assassino di Diavoli, the Killer of Devils!

Whenever the system let’s a bully live consequence-free, now there is someone--or something!--that will mete out justice. Strangling, slashing, stabbing ...in the shadows of Kintargo the evil are met with something just as vicious. And though some think him a mad serial killer, others see him as the embodiment of the rage of the downtrodden. Either way, wherever he goes, bloody death comes with him!

I wanted to put a twist on traditional superhero origins with a heaping helping of Italian giallo/horror and lucha libre. By day Anthony is an up-and-coming actor and activist for social issues and the poor. But by night he dons the mask of Assassino di Diavoli, the Man Who Murders the Cruel!

I havent worked out the Aria Park protest or the Night of Ashes in my background yet. I was hoping to use that to make some ties with other players if I get chosen.

My thoughts exactly. I've finally gotten a chance to put Anthony's fluff into typed words, but I'm going to leave off those bits for the exact same reason.

@GM and Doreen: that's awesome. Trick arrows rule! Every hero team, for some reason, needs an archer!

Decided to stick with straight vigilante. Sure, the damage boost is nice, but not nice enough to give up armor and Anthony definitely isn't a wise man, heh. If there were rules for a Brawler VMC maybe, but otherwise I'll pass. Cool system though.

Never done VMC before. But Anthony would benefit quite a bit from Monk ...lemme try this out.

@gm that tone is kind of what I was imagining. For my guy, I'm going for a luchador mixed with classic Fantomas or even Diabolik. A freedom-fighter/terrorist who might lurk in any shadow. Unlike Anthony, a promising actor with foppish tendencies. He naturally tends more to fight law than evil. Diabolists, to him, are like Nazis to me: dangers to end.

Equipment done. Anthony is a loud playboy by day, but at night he stalks agents of the Thrune as ...Assassino di Diavoli!

Here's Digger's submission alias. Need to do the equipment and the delicious fluff, but he's otherwise pretty much done.
