Growing up in the poorer neighbourhoods of Swallowtail, Pellynor was not given to what some would call a privileged life. Forced to work at a very young age to help his parents sustain themselves, Pellynor often had little time for friends and playing like many of the young boys around him and as such he was often the target of their teasing and bullying. Although Pellynor worked hard to maintain his job with his father he often had a short fuse and would repeatedly show up from business runs with bruises and split knuckles. Nevertheless people respected Pellynor and his family and though impoverished, he led a happy life. However when the murders that shook Swallowtail to its foundation almost half a decade ago began, Pellynor’s life was about to change forever.
About halfway through the murderous rampage, Pellynor was away making a delivery for his father’s smithing shop. While on the way home he got in a tuff with a local bully and while Pellynor emerged victorious he was none the less late arriving home. This unforeseen delay saved his life for when he arrived home he discovered that his parents had been murdered. Racked with grief, Pellynor was taken in by Father Tobyn where he spent much of his time. However with paranoia running wild to catch the murderer, more insidious minds plotting against each other. The local bully, still licking his wounds from their most recent encounter, cast an accusation against Pellynor and before long some people began to question the youth’s actions. Sensing that hysteria may soon take the reason from people and knowing of the youth’s innocence, Father Tobyn sent Pellynor away under the guise of a pilgrimage. With Pellynor successfully out of Swallowtail people began to hunt again in earnest for the real killer once another murder had taken place.
While in exile, something unexpected happened. Pellynor discovered the life of a cleric was something he was born for and soon what was once a convenient excuse for escape became a lifelong dedication. Now it is years later, Pellynor is a new man and fully trained in the ways of a cleric. As he begins his rites of passage by travelling and experiencing the world, he has decided to start his journey with a visit to his home town to pay his respect to his parents and enjoy the festival that once brightened his youth.
