Background:
Anadria was born in a small city in the Vieland, on the edge of the Tusk Mountains. Her father had died a few months earlier in a mining accident, though some claimed it had actually been an Orc attack, and her mother succumbed to illness when she was two years old. She was raised by her brother, but he was often working and she found herself playing on the streets most days. At eight she was well on her way to being just another guttersnipe, and probably would have grown up a thug had it not been for the Stranger.
He had looked like just another tourist, a perfect mark, but he had caught her easily and worse, a guard had seen it. She was sure she was about to be thrown in the lockup for the night, but then the Stranger lied. He had winked at her, and said he had hired her to be his guide for the day. The guard left, and she went to run, when the Stranger said he had meant it, he could do with a guide to the city, and she could earn some honest coin if she liked. She spent the day with the Stranger, and while she showed him around he told her of all the brilliant places he had been to (which confused her slightly, as many of the places didn't sound even well lit). She enjoyed the stories, and even thought to herself that she may wish to see such places one day, but the day would most likely have not changed her life if not for what happened at the end of it.
An alarm bell tolled out, just as the summer sun had begun to set, and the Stranger had, for the first time that day, asked her to lead him somewhere specific. She pointed the way to the guardhouse, and they ran, and by the gods it felt exhilarating. She was part of something big now. They reached the guardhouse, and the Stranger had flashed a bit of paper, saying that he was a Paladin, and could help. The captain had ushered him inside, and he asked her to wait for him. When he came back out a short time later his face was forcibly neutral. He thanked her for her hospitality, gave her a handful of coins that was worth more than her brother made in a month, and left by the east gate.
The next morning everyone knew what was coming. A hoard of Orcs had been sighted to the east, and they were headed in their direction. The children were hearded into the catacombs beneath the church, while the adults prepared the city for assult. Five hours passed, and the children hardly dared to breath, before a confused guardsman came down and gave them the all clear. The strangest sight greeted them as they exited the church, one of the tables from Mr. Fredalson's tavern was set up in the center of town, and seated at it were the mayor, three old orcs, and the Stranger. Anadria hurried home to her brother, but the Stranger found her later that day. He told her that the orcs had been driven from their home in the mountains by a dragon, and he had talked to them, convincing them they had lost too many of their family already. He told her that everyone has a reason for everything they do, and if you can find it out and work with it, then, sometimes, everyone lives. All it takes is a little heart, and a lot of knowledge.
She never saw him again, but she took his words to heart. Her city became a hub for civilised orcs and half orcs, and she threw herself into studying anything she could get her hands on. At the age if thirteen she was accepted to the University of Lepidstadt, where she befriended anyone she could, including the great professor Petros Lorrimor and, when she worked with him on a personal project during a break, his daughter of around her age Kendra. After graduating, she decided to travel to learn what she could firsthand, though she still kept in contact with her mentor and his daughter when she could. A few months back she mediated a dispute between the Baron and a student at Lepidstadt, and gladly sets out for Karcau. As she was on her way from Lepidstadt to Ravengro to assist the professor, she decides to catch passage on ships from Lake Lias heading upriver from there, rather than turn and trek the Shudderwood alone.
