What's going on here? Are we still playing? Is the GM taking a big pause?

I was kind of getting involved, I like homebrew...

I figure he' just letting the tension build.

Amria makes to address the strangers. Just as he opens his mouth to speak, the ranger bellows his own greeting as he charges. "Well that's one way of saying hello..."

Amria is readying against one or more of the strangers striking at his party members (even though Kair has it coming).

I agree with Kair's suggestion for Perception and Initiative checks. It would greatly speed up the actions which every pbp needs.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 There are trees... I mean, I'm pretty sure there are trees...

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Amria, arrow still nocked, keeps careful watch on the surrounding trees as his fellow woodsman attempts to remove the roadblock.

In response to Kair's words, Amria nocks an arrow to his bow and watches the forest for any signs of activity.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

I can't see the forest for the trees

Amria remains silent throughout the exchange. He finishes feeding the pup then eats his own food. He gratefully accepts a room for the night. Coming down the stairs in the morning, he pays for breakfast and orders food to take with him for the journey.

Buying more trail rations for the road.

Back in town and heading over to the IC thread.

Amria feeds scraps of meat to the young canine while listening to the conversation. He perks up at the mention of dark things in the woods. Perhaps I should swing back through here at the conclusion of our mission. It seems there is much to hunt in these woods.

Amria smiles to the server, Irina, and responds, "Please do. Will you also bring some raw meat with you? I have a little traveler with me who will be most appreciative."

So saying, he opens up the flap on a saddlebag and produces the pup. It looks about, it's red eyes nearly luminescent in the dim light of the inn.

Thanks for reminding me. I will be leaving early next Wednesday morning for a week and will have no Internet access. I will return the following Tuesday and should begin posting again late that night when I arrive at work.

Amria nods to the priest. "I welcome a blessing from the Lady of Graves. Will you accept the blessing of Erastil?"

Amria's here, just hasn't needed to say anything yet.

Amria continues to scan the woods for any sign of the remaining wolf. At Vasili's comment he shrugs, "I am uninjured. These are a waste of good pelts. but we do not have the time to spare. I suggest we mount up and continue on our way."

Delaying unless the retreating wolf is still in sight

If wolf is still in sight:

Ranged attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Amria takes aim at the wolf attempting to retreat.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Round 2

Amria shoots again at one of the wolves.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

Amria smiles at the small howl from his saddlebag.

As the woods grow still, the inquisitor begins to cautiously look and listen for what might be the cause.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

As the group heads into the forest, Amria speaks. "Now we know they are a few days ahead of us and that they traveled with urgency. Either they were unafraid of what stalks this forest or they did not have the time it would take to ride around. It is my opinion that we should make haste to close the gap between us. Time may yet be of essence."

"Coaches have recently passed through here? Brave travelers indeed." Amria replies while giving the overgrown path a wary eye.

Amria will take the second position with the best sight and the ability to track.

Amria nods at the ferryman's words before asking, "I can see that your barge is indeed steady and quite large, but really what occasion do you have to carry any but foot traffic or riders on horse if that forest is so foreboding?"

Amria looks to Kair, "Why would I?"

Amria nods in agreement. "Yes, most enlightening." Amria strokes the puppy's head, a small smile playing over his features. He finishes his meal and heads up to their room.

In the morning, he orders traveling lunches for all of them at breakfast, paying the wench for them with a couple of gold coins. Asking for some more raw meat, he feeds the puppy again before taking it with him to the stables to help ready the horses.

Amria places a hand upon his untouched meal to keep the barmaid from taking it away. "I would like to eat that before you take it from me." He goes back to feeding the large puppy the last of the raw meat and then let's it settle on his lap as he begins to eat his stew.

Waiting until the barmaid moves on, the quiet man resolves to address his companions; at least one of them. In response to Onvyr's suggestion that they might find some fun at the festival, he frowns. "Again you offer to delay our progress. We suspect that our quarry are undead and that they mean nothing good for the young Lady Dorumand; yet you have failed to display the slightest impetus for a swift and satisfactory resolution to the dilemma at hand. In fact, you have several times touted a favorable opinion of associating with the undead. Your cavalier attitude toward our task is unfitting to the severity of the situation. Please take the evening to consider your commitment to our cause and decide if it is right for you to continue on this journey. Perhaps you would find spending a few days here enjoying the festival more to your tastes."

Amria accepts the food with a smile and a nod. He proceeds to take the raw meat and feed it to the puppy in his lap all the while speaking to it in low tones.

Amria reaches down and lifts the flap on one of his saddlebags. Reaching in, he pulls out a black ball of wriggling fur. Setting it in his lap, he begins to ruffle it's ears and quietly speak to what turns out to be a good sized puppy.

Thank you for taking on the inventory, Vasili.

Amria nods at the half-orc's offer and allows his horse to be led away with the others. He follows the others inside the inn and takes a seat at the table. When the serving wench arrives, he places his own order for whatever is being served and mead to drink. He also requests raw meat from the wench.

I don't know if anyone else has the ability to speak with animals.

Also of note, despite Vasili's assertions, you can be understood while in bat form.

The hunter looks back to Onvyr and asks, "Tell me, O sage, how great is their larder that they will not eat a fresh meal?"

Amria mounts up and looks impatiently to the others. "We are done here. Let us be on our way. Our quarry does not wait for us."

Grunting in pain from the arrow now sticking out of him, Amria focuses past the pain and immediately draws again, letting loose an arrow at the diminutive bandit.

Point blank longbow attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Damage: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 5) + 4 = 12

Apologies, last night was monthly deployment.

Amria draws his longbow, the deep darkwood flexing as he draws it back to his ear. Readying against any hostile movement from the small figure, he takes aim.

Assuming that he is at least a 5' step away from the small being. Otherwise, Amria takes a step back and then readies.

Should the conditions be met:

Point blank longbow attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Amria stops short of the disabled wagon. Dismounting, he approaches the small figure.

Amria nods in agreement with the group consensus. "Yes, let's be away from this place. Time is against us in this endeavor and we must make haste to regain some ground."

As Belko reenters the room, Amria holds up the contents of the sack for his inspection. "Do you recognize any of these objects?"

Looking back to Yves, he asks, "Do you recognize any of the other pieces here? Could you ask your fellow to come back in and we shall see if he recognizes any of these objects as well."

Amria quirks an eyebrow as the servant, Arn, as he looks to the inquisitor whilst describing the proclivities of Redgrave. He watches the man step outside the room and then listens to the woman's description of the man. "Would you describe these two constables who paid you?" Hearing her response, he nods and turns his attention to the chest.

"Please, I would like to inspect the chest itself." He remarks to the wild man, Cruentus. Stepping up to the chest he kneels down and begins a thorough investigation of the chest and it's contents, looking for anything that might denote a hidden recess, false bottom or trigger.

Taking 20 on Perception for 27

Would Amria even need to make a check to determine from their descriptions that Redgrave seems to be a dhampir?

Amria speaks up for the first time since arriving. "All the same, we would crave your indulgence to be allowed to search his former quarters. There may yet be some overlooked clue to be found by the trained eye."

Amria quietly follows the others to the inn and pays close attention to the clerk's body movements trying to read his intent.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Frowning, Amria regards the lady's maid. "Was the tea kept in that ornamental box?" He asks of her.

Sorry, I don't have the skill points to put into Local.

By the way, how does everybody just know that our newest member is a skinwalker? I know Kair made a knowledge (local) check untrained, but that only allows for a max DC of 10 and we're all CR 1 so that's a DC 11.

Went to the doctor Tuesday and ended up in the hospital for emergency surgery. Got out Wednesday and went back to work tonight. I am back and feeling better now.

Huh, missed that.

Amria follows the other men up the back stairs to the girl's rooms. Astonished at the size, opulence and quantity of her living quarters, he stands taken aback for a moment before regaining his senses to hear the butler point out the portrait of the young lady.

The gaunt man begins a very slow, meticulous search of the rooms and the balcony, looking for anything that might be a clue. He goes through any dressers, desks, armoires, chests, boxes or anything else contained within. He strips the bed of it's bedding and checks beneath the mattress as well as under the bed (if possible). Making circuits of each room, he knocks on all of the walls at regular intervals listening for irregularities. He will end his search by checking behind any paintings, terminating at the portrait of Koraline.

Taking 20 on the Perception checks for the rooms for a 27.

So long as you aren't holding out hope that some passing vampire is going to become your mentor/bestie, you'll be okay.

Amria patiently awaits a response to his request of the baron.

Amria accepts the proffered drink and politely sips from it. As Baron Dorumand explains the situation, he sits forward, listening intently to the telling of his personal tragedy. At the conclusion, he speaks up.

"Good sir, you may rely on me to put forth my greatest efforts in locating and recovering your dear daughter from the clutches of whomsoever has so devilishly absconded with her person. Though I am certain you, your family and even the overwhelmed local constabulary have already done so, I would ask to be allowed to search your daughter's room for any sign of the ne'er-do-well's passage and transgression. We may yet find that some small vestige of their activities might be ferreted out."

Looking over you sheet, I am not sure where your +7 Initiative comes from, I think it should just be +5 unless I've missed a special ability or trait. I would also like you to list the name of the Judgement you have on your sheet in case I need to look anything up about it and I saw Solo Tactics listed but you will get that at next level. I think your CMD should be 16 instead of 15. Looking over your skills, you didn't show your numbers for how you got the bonuses in your skills, how many ranks you put in them, so I am not sure if they are right or a little off.

Weird, I thought I had already fixed the Initiative. Fixed now.

Not entirely sure what you mean. I have all of the judgements available to me. You choose which judgement you are going to use when you activate the Judgement feature.

Yeah, I had deleveled the character and missed removing that, but then I don't have any teamwork feats so it doesn't do anything anyway.

Yep, missed upping that after increasing the DEX. Good catch!

As for the skills [((6 + INT)x2 + 2))= 16] (ranks, class skill bonus, ability mod, (class feature and/or trait,) acp):

Climb 1+3+2-2
Diplomacy 1+3
Heal 1+3+2
Intimidate 1+3+1(+1)
Dungeoneering 1+4+1(+1)
Nature 1+3+1(+1)
Religion 1+3+1(+1)
Perception 2+3+2
Ride 1+3+3-2
Sense Motive 1+3+2(+1)
Stealth 2+3+3-2
Survival 2+3+2(+1)
Swim 1+3+2-2

@ Vasili - Two more levels till Animal Companion. Handle Animal will come. Not enough skill points yet. Now that I have purchased Intimidate and SM, I won't be placing any more points into them. They auto climb with my level. Likewise Climb and Swim. Just needed to spend a point in each so as to have a chance of succeeding and fit the survivalist nature of the character. Probably won't be spending any more points on Heal either as we have so many divine characters who may take it and build upon it.

Regarding Diplomacy skill and animals: Core rulebook does state that you can't use it on creatures with less than INT 3, however; the designers have repeatedly stated that newest source trumps older sources. If a newer source says you can, then you can. I'm brusque, so please know this is only an explanation and not an admonishment.

Please let me know if anything else stands out.

Turned out I made some mistakes in my character sheet. I shorted myself to build points due to +2 CHA. I added that to DEX. I fixed all of the DEX related modifiers to reflect this change. I also dropped the buckler (leaving me with the same AC) to take up a horse as it seems to be the preferred method of travel for the party. Added some extra gear. I also corrected a couple of skills where I had the modifier too high due to ACP. Anyone who would like to look over the stats for any other mistakes are welcome to do so.
