Got the chronicle, looks good. Thanks again for running, Crucible.

Amba looks a bit dazzled and fazed. She runs a grimy hand through her hair, then reties her scarf. "This was... I think we were right the first time. We shouldn't have tried to meddle in these things."

Thanks to Crucible for running, and everyone for playing this one. It was quite a wild ride!

"Oh... Ah... Well." Amba considers it only logical that other would be more suited to dealing with the simulacra. "Maybe we can clean up here? That work also needs doing, yes?"

"Oh no, we would never dream to think we could take on the actual Lady, as you say. If we can be of value here, we will deal with these copies, Effendi," Amba replies with a deep bow.

Amba sighs and points her eyes at the heavens. "If I must die, then I will humbly accept my fate, but - if I could have any say - I would rather it not be today. Or... thousands of years ago, as it seems."

The halfling woman grips her slingstaff with white knuckles and smashes it in a wide arc at their current adversary.

Attack +flank +favor: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 11

Should I bot Dearel again? It's been 24 hours... If so:

Amba winces as the man in red strikes Volyana. "Please be careful, miss. These Harbingers know how to fight, it seems." Feeling the favor of Khepri with her, Amba takes a step forward, trying very hard not to get way of the scary person in the platemail. She thrusts her staff at the man in yellow, trying to strike him in the gut.

5 foot step forward and attack yellow. Still under effect of Divine Favor.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9

Dearel steps forward to make room for the other armored Pathfinder, then swings his sword at the man in red, trying to take advantage of the opening that Volyana's attack offered.

5 ft step forward (left on the map), the strike at red.

damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Couldn't you declare a provisional action? Like: After Dearel moves, Xukong...

"Oh, these guys don't mess about," Amba remarks as she glimpses what's happening downstairs. "Are you with the Harbingers," she asks from her position up the stairs. "Wouln't want any unfortunate misunderstandings, would we?" Seeing how the two armored folks at the front are slow to move, Amba duck and darts past them, hoping she'll be able to pass the man swinging his short sword without incident.

Move 20 ft, provoking from yellow.

As she's now toe to toe with the elemental creature, Amba raises her voice in prayer to Khepri and swings her staff at it.

Cast Divine Favor as a swift action with fervor. Does not provoke. Then swing at the elemental.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 28
Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10

Confirm, if it matters: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8

"It's good someone found the Vault in time. It seems we're running out," Amba remarks as she looks up at their impending doom. She moves away from the group as she gives her slingstaff the familiar whirl, loading a stone and letting loose. "What is that? Something primal, born from the energies of time?"

Move, swift action to activate slipslinger style, free action to load, attack the blob.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

"Oh, this is bad. This is bad," Amba remarks when she realizes where they are. When they are. "We aren't supposed to be here, at all."

She nods gravely at the image of the Master of Scrolls, eager to follow his lead. "You have no idea about where the Vault is? Could we maybe use the arcane energies - the green surge - to trace its location? Follow the lines, if you will? Or maybe try to find it the old-fashioned way? Just look for patterns on the ground, and possible find traces of the Vault?"

I'd like it best if I could aid someone else in the effort (with +4 from Helpful), if possible.

Amba seems to shrink in respons to Xukong's explanation of what's happening. "oh dear..."

She looks around as their surroundings are stable again.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

"Well, hello there. Oh, I don't think they're friendly. Just as all the last people we met..." Amba bows and puts her hands forward, showing she carries no weapons. She slowly backs away. "We could maybe avoid a fight here, if we just back away. Guys, girls and, eh... thin; can we try to avoid bloodshed here?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

"Oh dear..." Amba tries to make sense of the situation. "I thought we might be straying too far, considering ourselves so mighty that we stepped back in time to do research. But now these people want to bring back Aroden? That seems too much like tempting fate."

I'm assuming from the description of the overseer that we won't have to deal with the flying snake-like thing anymore? In case that we still had a shot at killing it, please see the spoiler below:

Amba looks thoughtful as they leave behind the rebel slaves and push on. "I was going to suggest that we help them find their general. They are the downtrodden her, after all. But what repercussions would that have? If we save the General, while he would normally had been executed or sommething. Would we be changing the very culture we're here to study?" Amba laughs and shrugs. "It is probably not for us to ponder such questions."

As they see the flying snake-like creature overhead, Amba looks at Baied. "No idea. It doesn't look to be friendly, though. If it ever was, our colleagues tearing through here probably changed its mind already." She steps into the room while twirling her sling staff, loads a bullet without effort and letting loose.

Swift action to enter Slipslinger style. Free action to load. Attack the creature. Range 80 ft.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

"Right. Well-spoken, Baried." Amba adds her nicest smile at the woman, while holding out her hands to show she means no harm. "Maybe we should tell them that we've killed two of the lizardfolk already? That might show them we're on the same side..."

Diplomacy, aid another for +4: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

"Ah, you can speak to them. That's mighty of you!" Amba motions the slaves that they mean to harm and tends to their wounds as she speaks in slow Common. "You can probably tell us much about these lizard men. Have they been here long? What Gods do they worship?" She folds her hands in prayer to visualize the words. "How advanced is their magic? And technology?"

Diplomacy, aid another for +4: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Amba rounds the corner of the table and picks up some extra speed, waving er staff in two hands for extra heft. Unfortunately, the best of speed causes her to breath in deep, catching the full brunt of the terrible smell.

Fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Attack +charge +flank - sick: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 2 + 2 - 2 = 16
Damage -sick: 1d4 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 2 = 4

Amba tries to get a clear shot, but doesn't find a proper target. She sighs and keeps hustling forward, all the way around the table.

Double move.

There's some groups that have a posting rate you just can't keep up with. (At least, I can't). It's probably different between PbP and a live multi-table special, where the pace between tables is a lot more equal.

Amba is startled at hearing the sounds of battle. "Eep!" She jogs over to the others as quick as she can on her short legs. "Hold on, I'm coming, here to help." She swings her staff as she walks, fiddling with the sling on top.

Double move, swift action to go into Slipslinger style.

"Oh..." says Amba at Malik's explanation of the situation. "So, in the past, the humans were slaves to these lizardfolk? That's not nice." She utters a small prayer, upon which the end of her staff starts to glow.

She walks up to one of the cages. "Hello. Can you tell us about this place?"

Cast Light.

Amba crouches down to help Volyana. "That is a good idea. I'll help! We just won't be able to take them with us. Remember, Master Shaine said that anything we take will collapse, immediately."

While working on the ritual, Amba tries to think of other ways to collect information. "Maybe we could make a map of the islands, or make a description and drawing of the snakes? I'll be happy to help."

Just throwing some ideas out there. Amba can add +4 on an untrained Profession Scribe, if needed.

Amba claps her hands as she sees the group making progress. "Well done, everyone. I'm sure the Venture-Captains will be most pleased by our efforts here."

Amba moves from one island to the next, relying on her soft step again. Once on the island, she might notice some images with religious connotation.

Stealth, Take 10: 10 + 6 = 16

"Ah, that is good to know, Malik," pipes up the enthusiastic halfling. "I don't mind getting wet. Let me try first." Amba hikes up her robes to her knees and gently steps into the water. "Hi there, snakies," she soothes. "Just me, passing through..."

Stealth untrained, +3 Dex, +4 size, -1 ACP
Stealth, Take 10: 10 + 6 = 16

If she makes it to the next island without incident, Amba prays to Khepri for vision and casts Light. She proceeds to pours over the glyphs. "If we just dedicate ourselves to the task, we will persevere. So teaches the Humble Hand."

Perception, take 10: 10 + 8 = 18

Fair enough, GM.

Amba looks up from her work on the reptilian bodies. "So, did the rest of you find anything interesting? I think we'd best move on, in any case. The Master of Scrolls said that time was important!"

I think we shouldn't be shy to make some rolls post-encounter, for whatever skill we think is reasonable, even if it to is untrained. It's a 'free' roll anyway as far as I can tell, in the sense that failing the roll is the same as not trying at all.

On another note, I'm away with the family this weekend, but should still be able to get some posts in if the place has wifi.

Amba looks relieved after Baied's explanation that she was not at fault, but Dearel's grave words make her doubt return. She's happy to follow Baied to study the lizards, both the two corpses and the one that she managed to save.

"Well, for someone who hasn't studied the healing arts, I must say you're doing surprisingly well," the halfling encourages her. "Here, this part looks interesting, I think maybe we should study that some more."

Heal, aid another on Baied: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 (Adds +4, due to the Helpful feat)

Amba also has a decent survival skill check, which I could see working here. GM, can a character make multiple checks after an encounter, or just one? for everyone else: Amba has Helpful to provide +4 on Aid another, so I'd prefer to spend my skill checks aiding rather than taking the lead.

Amba does not have Precise Shot. I'll usually avoid shooting at any engaged targets, switching to melee in that case.

Amba looks sad after Baied's admonishment, even as Volyana downs two of the creatures. "But... but... I waited for them to attack. And they looked aggressive from the start. I don't want to see any of you get hurt!"

Seeing as Dearel is still under pressure from the lizard, Amba steps up and whacks it with the end of her staff.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Amba looks in awe at the knight in the brilliantle gleaming armor. "Yes, Sir!" She later looks at Xukong, timidly asking. "Well, you don't have to provide my own healing. I've a healing wand as well, and would be more than happy to use that in case of emergencies." She nods gravely. At Volyana's reply about the rods, she looks up to the Varisian woman, in awe again. "A whip, huh? That must take a looot of practice to master."

As they meet the lizardfolk, Amba looks doubtful. "I am not sure they are friendly." Preparing for the worst, Amba gives her sling staff a whirl, dropping a bullet in with practiced speed. She takes a step forward next to Dearel, and takes the staff in both hands, ready to let loose.

Swift action to activate Slipslinger Style, free action to load, 5 foot step forward, then ready an attack. I'll attack the first one to make aggresive action forward and move within 30 ft.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

"Yes, Shaine Effendi said we had limited time, so we had best get going." She takes up a place near Volyana, sling staff in hand. "So, I had been meaning to ask... What are those rods?" she asks curiously.

Suggested marching order: Volyana, Xukong, Amba, Baied, Malik. Opinions?

Nope, not on this character.

"That is very interesting information, Baied. Good for you!" Amba beams a prouid and encouraging smile at the half-elf woman. Before she can say more, the Master of Scrolls starts his speech.

Amba closes her eyes for a moment in remembrance of the Master of Spells, even though she had never met the man. She looks in awe of Kreighton Shane's speech, and the wonders that he introduces. Halfway, though, he mood turns less cheerful. "Peering into history, it that really what is meant? Are we reaching for the sun itself?" She looks thoughtful. "I would never dare criticize the Society and its goals of course" - she looks horrified at the prospect - "but is this really a wise idea?"

Her worries hold, even as the spellcasters begin their work and the area around them starts changing.

Amba greets the newcomer with trepidation, not speaking but simply waving her hand. "Well, that is... good to know, I think. We are going to summon something?"

"Oh, there is not need to apologize for that. The Humble Hand is not very well known outside of my homeland. ...Osirion," she adds belatedly, hoping to spare the half-elf having to apologize for another thing she may not know. "There is no shame in not knowing. Study hard and diligently, and you will prosper. I am sure of that."

Amba watches the conversation unfold, happy to be part of this new group. "My greeting, Miss Volyana. I am sure we are lucky to have you accompany us today." She wipes away a bead of sweat off her forehead with her hand, leaving a trace of dirt, then beams a very friendly smile at the Varisian woman.

"Ah. Yes, Effendi, of course," Amba replies with a nod of her head, glossing over the fact that Baied misunderstood her intention, either on purpose or accidentally. She takes out a pendent tucked under her robe and proudly presents it, showing a blue scarab. "I pray to Khepri, Miss. He teaches us to work hard and be humble, so that He may take care of us."

A halfling woman of middle age with tanned skin, dressed in a simple linen tunic, bows at the group. She has a short club in her hand that she uses as a walking staff, and a sling is attached to its end.

She takes a quick peek at Malik's hooded face, apprehensive but curious, then beams a wide smile at everyone. "It is an honor to work with you, Effendis. I am Amba Okoah, humble follower of the tenets of Khepri. I will do my best to assist you in whatever task the Venture-Captains deem fit for us." She bows again, head bobbing. Her hair is bound with a scarf that was once white, but is now grimy. That words holds for the entirety of her appearance. She seems a bit sweaty and smelly, as if she's had a hard day of work already. Her hands are dirty with mud and dust up to her forearms, and have received only a cursory wash. "I am especially delighted to meet a fellow woman of the cloth, Miss Edourha. Praised be the Gold-Fisted, even if wealth and power may turn quickly on a man..."

Effendis: Used as an Orision honorific.

Amba steps up, past Seleena, as she draws the elven blade from the sheath on her back. She takes a protective stance over Jidai. "You think this is funny?" she asks the bandit. "See how you like this..." With that, she slices has sword, low to high, at the grinning woman.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Jidai, if you're worried about standing on the front lines, you might take a change and move away after your attack. The halfling should be prone, so there's probably very little chance for the AoO to hit you. The drawback is that he could just stand up on his turn without repercussion, if he's not engaged.

GM, everything ok?

"Ah, that is the brave one," Amba taunts the creature hiding in the mist. To the three figures engaging them, she snorts "He lets you die, and probably takes most of your gains for himself. Yes?"

Seeing how the fighting is in close quarters and she cannot reach the halfling, Amba opts to draw her whip instead. Aiming it along the building wall, right besides Seleena and Jidai, she attempts to snare the halfling's leg in the whip.

Draw whip, attempt to trip the halfling. +2 from the whip quality and -4 for cover included

Trip: 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 - 4 = 19

Amba doesn't take any of the others items in the crate, at she discussed with the others before they took on the task. She also makes sure the boat is back at the pier, and the door to the warehouse is locked, before they leave.

When they are waylaid en route to the Grand Lodge, she barks an incredulous laugh at their assailants' big words. "You really think you can kill us? Try if you dare. Walk away now, while you still can. Our sting shall be swift if you do not!"

Amba looks surprised at seeing the scene in the warehouse. "Rats?! I thought we were being attacked best something dangerous..."

In a fluent motion, Amba draws the slender elven blade from its sheath on her back, takes a step back and slices at the rat engaging Kaeldra.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Amba curses when she finds out that a fight has broken out in the warehouse, and that she's stuck in the boat below.

Right, I can do this, she tries to instill confidence in herself as she calculates the jump. "Powers of the jungle, cunning of the frog, please be with me today..."

Hunter's Focus as a swift action, for +4 on the Jump check.

Acrobatics to jump: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 = 15

Will there be any way for me to get involved in the fight, seeing how I positioned Amba below the warehouse in a boat? :/ Could I jump or climb up, when my turn comes up?

Having tied up the boat again at the pier, Amba follows the others into the warehouse. "Well, that is lucky. With the key right here, we only have to borrow it a while."

She looks puzzled at seeing the crate perched on the half-splitted wood. "Why would anyone put that crate on there?!" she exclaims. She follows Jidai to the crane mechanism, but doesn't really fancy operating it. "It is a good idea to use the crane. However, maybe we should still see about using the boat. As a precaution. I will go and paddle the boat right below the crate, in case it fails."

Amba then walks back out, untied the boat again and tries to row it underneath the warehouse, right below the crate.

Amba looks at the warehouse, trying to think of how to tackle this problem. "You are right, Jidai. There should be a better solution. Wait here, I might have something. " She steps into the small boat docked at the pier, and steers it around the warehouse. There seemed to be another door here. Maybe that one is unlocked?

Amba shrugs. "We will not do anything wrong, will we? The crate is Mr. Karela's. We are only retrieving it for him, nothing else. We will leave the other items in the warehouse, of course."
