I am. I figured they'd borrow a lot of concepts from Starfinder, as well as Pathfinder Unchained. It felt like there were some test-bed concepts in each system.

I've only covered as far as the classes so far, but I can tell you that if a Ranger wants to pursue bow archery, it looks like the Fighter multiclass feats are mandatory. They get almost nothing to benefit bow archery. They do, however, appear to be heavily invested in the Ranger Animal Companion. I think every Ranger feat level has a new Animal Companion feat.

I cast Magic Missile, which is Force damage, not fire. That should ignore the akata's resistance. I'd like to know if the extra 5 damage kills it before I attempt the save.

Crap. That's behind me.

Spinning, Alpha-83 sees the Akata coming from behind. Gathering magical energy, he works the strands into his magic missile blast to send all three hurling into akata.

Magic Missile vs Akata charging towards me: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) + 3 = 10

Casting magic missile as a full-round action at the akata in the rear, because it can hurt me.

Alpha-83 sighs as Boris throws a grenade into the bridge, possibly alerting the akata and damaging critical systems. He prepares to cast a pool of grease if any of the akata charge them after Boris sets off the grenade.

Preparing to cast Grease if the akata move into the area of the green square - which is also the area of the spell. If one is there when I cast the spell, it's a DC 16 Reflex save or fall prone. To move through the grease at half-speed, they must succeed on a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means they can't move, failure by 5 or more means they fall prone.

With the Akita prone, Alpha-83 pulls out his tactical pistol and fires off a round at it.

I was actually targeting the one attacking Gryggax, which means that Akita needs to make a DC 10 Acrobatics check to move out of the greased area.

Alpha-83 calls out, "These are a type of creature called an Akita. Their bite infects its victim with their parasitic offspring. They cannot hear, and do not need to breathe. They are not susceptible to flame, ice, or poison and rarely need to eat. They are susceptible to saltwater, if anyone has any."

He then looks at the one charging he and Gryggax and decides keeping it at bay is his best choice. He reaches out to the strands of magic in the universe and manipulates them to create a patch of Grease underneath the beast.

"The Acreon is quite heavily damaged. I doubt that we will be able to pilot it back to Absalom Station without conducting repairs. The ship does have gravity and basic life support functions, however, it will be cold. It may also be dark, so if you are unable to see in the dark, you will need a light source." Alpha-83 checked the charge on his pulsecaster, now back to maximum, as well as made sure his tac pistol was loaded. He then took up position behind Blacklock as the other prepared to enter the ship.

"Communications are open if you would like to do so." Alpha-83 opened the communications to allow Gryggax to contact the enemy vessel. As Gryggax attempted to do so, Alpha-83 attempted to lock onto the enemy's weapon system.

Fun fact: the Repair Shields action evenly distributes the regained shield points between all the facings. So, Boris can do the Repair Shields from Engineering to try and restore the shields to full points, then I can divert power from the other three to shore up the weak shield at full points. Since the Engineering Phase occurs before the Helm Phase, Boris's action would go off before mine.

Using the Balance action to shore up the port shields, drawing 1 point from each other shield arc to add a total of 3 points to the port shields. That balances out at 4 points for each arc.

Alpha-83 looks decidedly uncomfortable with all the press coverage and staring. "This will make it difficult to avoid whoever it was that shadowed us outside Mama Fat's. I wonder how the news outlets got our photographs? I don't recall ever having my picture taken."

Alpha-83 has inhabited this body for 8 years and spent most of that time in the Spike as part of a gang. Not sure how someone grabbed his picture from anywhere.

Alpha-83 will request permission to and then scan the contract into his computer so they can make sure they have a record of it for their own reference. It then thanks the Captain for his hospitality before exiting the ship. As it and Boris make their way to the rendezvous, it muses to the Dwarf, "I see the confusion in the contract. Astral Extractions did not include a line about them obtaining sole ownership of anything Hardscrabble recovered or found, yet Hardscrabble was to prospect on behalf of Astral. I believe Astral has interpreted that because Hardscrabble was acting on their behalf, they assume ownership of anything they find, while Hardscrabble's case is that since Astral did not specify sole ownership, the Drift Rock is rightfully theirs. That Hardscrabble was using Astral's ship to do the job only adds to the confusion. Is this your assessment as well?"

Alpha-83: Not programmed for legal work. Incidentally, my Int modifier increased when I bought the Mk 1 Intelligence module, and I never spent my shiny new skill ranks from that. So, I'm going to pick up Culture as a skill.

Alpha-83 looks over the contract, comparing the contract to what it knows of the laws of Absalom Station and the Pact World - the relevant jurisdictions.

Looking over the contract, Alpha-83 carefully considered each section of the contract, and compared it to the relevant statute. His new intelligence module was already paying dividends, it seemed.

Alpha-83 felt this was a much more comfortable setting for it - although it was curious what sort of exotic foods were at the Estrella de Corazon.
