Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

I just realized I was in the casino with a large sized woman that sings.

Alexander sighs and shakes his head.
"Stupid game anyway." he mutters, making sure to welcome the kill from the beautiful young women. Maybe even ask one what time she gets off work when looking at a red-haired beauty.

DM:

Actually I bet Gold so lost most of my gold it seems lol. I still have quite a few still on me and more silver.

Alexander gets frustraited however he decides to spin the ghoulette again, this time using his remaining gold.

Ghoulette:

Bet #1: 5

Bet #2: 7

Bet #3: 3

Bet #4: 11

Alexander is a bit down at his first loss, but he starts shelling out more chips in hopes to win, not caring if he leaves with nothing, he atleast gets a kiss from a beautiful woman.
Now if this was my Gnome in my RL game he would've already walked over to either Nichelle or Iluna and said "I have a 10-foot pole" with a wink. ofcourse I stole that off the internet, but he's more crude than Alexander is, especially with a much higher Charisma.

DM:

Oh don't worry, counting the coins in herolab, will let you know when out of gold. Can I use silver as I believe as it say minimum was 10 copper. Alex would've converted all his funds as he wants to try and shwo up Edgar and impress the women.

Will put another on the following numbers.

3

7

5

4

Same bet at before on each one.

Didn't roll because I was afraid that if I rolled it that I could be accused of cheating if I won :p

Verik Vancaskerkin, one of Saul's kids appears in my CotCT part 1. Apparently his other brother was in the AP before that, Rise of the Runelords part 1.

Alexander appears to worry for a moment, but he just shrugs as what Edgar says appears to make him confident and the attractive women also tempting any man to write the contract just for a chance to be close to these women and so he signs his soul away, quite literilly according to the contract, doing so in Chelaxian so that it appeared more infernal funnily enough he thought due to how Chelax is these days.

I assume that the women aren't real succubi. Real in the sense of that they are wearing costumes and it's obvious like the horns are attached to a headband, the wings bend in the wind or doing move properly, same with the tail. If perception is needed I'll give a check

Perception if applicable 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Alexander pays 1 gold for entry fee and seeing the Tengu so confident he feels that he should show him up by attempting to out-play him by heading to Ghoulette in an attempt to try and raise more money than him.

Alexander places a gold coin on 9.

Err....DM?

"Not to mention there are no offensive laws to stop people having a good time." he shrugs as he really finds laws in some cases as a means to a end but lawful cities being really offensive with the laws.

Sorry for not replying too quickly, but my laptop fan has offically died and without a fan the processor can't cool down to everything is reallly slow atm.

Nichelle had looked to Edgar, wondering what his question was going to be, because the trailing off was leaving her waiting for the rest of it-- Until Alexander made his observations on the two countries, that she had not really heard of much. A look of surprise was on her face, turning her attention fully to Alexander "There's undead in Geb?", she seemed slightly confused. "What happened to the people? Were the cities overrun?"

Nichelle had heard of the Worldwound, where the demons were trying to hold back the tide of demons that were spilling from their hells, and valiant people were fighting to keep them contained, but there was a country that had an Undead problem?

Reflexively, she shuddered at the thought. Surviving there must be a nightmare.

Knowledge History: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Alexander scratches his head in a sudden confusion.
"No, no it wasn't that..." he trails off being distracted by the somewhat attractive women around him. "I know it's ruled by undead, smart undead but I can't quite recall anything else at the moment." his cheeks appear to had turned red from embaressment as well as his wondering eyes.

Lol, well that's how I'm translating a 1. It's common knowledge it's ruled by intelligent undead, but of course with that roll he doesn't know the ghost named Geb or any of the infamous history between Geb and Nex, both the men and the regions after their namesake, decided to say he was too distracted by the women.

Probably about that time she figured out I wasn't going to follow in her footsteps. As for what I can see–" Illuna turns to Tragershen, " To be frank, this is not the prettiest collection of humanity, or near humanity that I've ever had to the pleasure to be around." Iluna seems to be getting a bit antsy, waiting for the line to move.

Alexander just shrugs at the comment of riddleport.

"Better than anywhere in Molthune or Geb" he doesn't quite know details of these places, but from what he's heard it's better here than those places. "Imagine the stench in Geb with all the undead walking around."

Iluna Tywyll wrote:

"Illuna Tywell. It is fine to meet you and these others." Illuna gesures to the other folks in line. "However, I was looking for some excitement, and standing in line was not it." She glances around again. "I appear to be causing a bit of a ruckus. I guess I have that effect on people. I don't see why, though. I'm tall. He's a bird." She points at Edgar, a large smile and laughing eyes attempting to mitigate the rudeness.

Damn that's tall! Must make all men feel...inadequet. Besides, a lot of men like tall women anyway :p

Alexander finds it difficult to hide laughter as she calls Edgar a bird, though smiles lightly as he clears his throat, trying to pass it off as a cough.
"Well...I guess you are quite unique, I mean you have a special look about you." he seems a bit flushed after sticking his fooot in his mouth, but he seems to try and stick it in further with eath new word. "I mean large women must be rare...err...well I'm sure you know that I mean..." he trails off deciding to give up in the end.

Alexander is about 5' 9" with random hight rolled via Herolab. How much taller is Iluna?

Alexander looks up at this giant of a woman also having difficulty grasping this. "I've heard of growth spurts, but this is ridiculous." he then puts out a hand bravely.
"Err...my name's Alexander." he tentively looks at his own hand, afraid that she might crush it with a handshake.

Heh, the Devil. Sounds like one of my cousins 'adventures'. Simple scheme really, He gathers a bunch of nobles who want to have a bit of an adventure, sets up all the monsters and encounters the nobles would face. Unlike real adventures, most of what the nobles get in the end is just to taste a bit of a thrill of adventure and losing a considerable amount of weight in their purses.

"I hope I don't go face-to-face with this so called devil." he sighs and looks over at the two. "Good luck to you two, I've never been good at gambling."

Alexander, though not really wanting to be here, decides to join the competition with Nichelle and Edgar.

"Anyone knows the rules of this tournement?" Alexander asks the two as he is uncertain and looks around the area. His own weapons are donned, but he feels no need to draw any of his weapons as there is no imminant danger. Bastardsword on the back, handxe on the back too with two maces, heavy and small on his hips as well as wearing a masterworked backpack. His armour however is hide.

Me'mori wrote:
Sounds fair enough. She's easy enough to get along with.

Nichelle sounds like the best idea for Alexander to have met on the street and made friends, hope you don't disagree.

Actually would be a interesting roleplaying if they had met and gotten long as friends and perhaps he grows a greater attachment but can't tell her about her feelings?

Just a suggestion, doesn't have to be if you don't feel comfortable with those ideas.

okey ammended backstory, however I need to pick a friend who dragged me along to this event :p

okey, okey I'm here. Hmm...we have a Bard, Ninja, Godling (???) and Wizard...hmm...fighter it is. Best way to do it is remake Alexander Fellblade and give him a backstory to go along with it.

Two-weapon fighter and now herolab has updated I'll start rebuilding right away.

Only background trait I could think of for him was that he is a friend of Edgar Prince who decodes to be responsible and help his friend, no matter what happens.

Sorry if that doesn't match up with your backstory, just picked a random nake which might be useful enough. I'll make sure to repost the new info on his profile.

Edit: Done, will need to work on the backstory though.

"Take that! Go back to Belkzen!" he Curses the Orc as he slashes it with a powerful blow from his family sword.

Apologies about the lack of map. Here's the image pre-Initiative: link. A couple of notes, just in case you want to revise actions based on the map:

-Gregor would need to charge to reach the nearest Orc. It's roughly 45 ft.
-Boomer would need to double-move to place himself 20 ft. away from the Orcs. Currently 60 ft. from the nearest one.

Sorry for not posting this earlier. I'm coming down with something, so I just passed out yesterday. I'll check back in the morning and in the afternoon/evening and update the map/post combat actions for the Orcs.

Co-ordinants will help us where to go. Go to view and click on co-ordinates. It'll help us choose where to go.

DM:

Is there a map? So we can plan our attacks and make sure to move into flanking.

Won't act until after the Orcs turn as I havn't acted yet.

The Assembled Map

Alexander looks at the map, following his finger across the path.

"Looks like we head south west through 'the broken glade', then south east and go past 'the grey lake' and then head over 'serpent's gorge' to get to where we're going." he looks back up at the group. "Anyone good at following maps? I ask because I am more likely to get us lost than find the right path. Perhaps we should keep our individual peices or let the one leading the way hold all the peices? I may not know the majority of you that well, but I trust that we are all smart enough to suspect getting the everflame and returning it will be no easy task."

He looks over everyone wondering what everyone else's opinion of what to do with the map is.
"I'll stay with the map reader, just in case anything comes at us head on. Ama, would you like to take the back in case we are attacked from behind?" Alexander suggests the order with him being at the front with the map reader, Ama at the back and the last person in the middle.

I'm glad someone broke the silence.
"Hi, my name is Alexander Fellblade." he smiles putting out a hand to shake "Though I know you Boomer and I have met Ama on occassion, I don't believe I've ever met you Mr...?"

Even if no one shakes his hand he'll look through the pack and take out the peice of map, looking at the others.
"Do we all have map peices like this?" he asked wondering if this seems to be some kind of way to force the four of them to remain as a group, not like he'd have any intention on leaving. "Let's put it together and see what it shows."

GM Werebadger wrote:

Mayor Uptal nods approvingly, handing the lantern to Ama. Then, he gets up on the cart and speaks to the crowd again. "I present to you the brave heroes who will follow in Kassen’s footsteps to retrieve the Everflame! Some of them may not return, but I say to you that their sacrifice shall not be forgotten. Go, brave heroes, and do not return until you have the eternal fire." With that, the mayor points to the south, the direction of Kassen’s tomb. The townsfolk begin

waving goodbye with cold, solemn looks on most of their faces.

Some shuffling among the surrounding circle opens up a gap wide enough for the four adventurers to pass abreast. Led by Mayor Uptal, the entire congregation makes the sign of the starry butterfly to the group, wishing them luck in their travels in Desna's name. As the adventurers set forth from the circle, a gasp goes up and half the crowd points overhead. A shooting star, bright enough to be visible in the noon light, shoots by overhead along the road to be traveled. Many make the sign of the butterfly again, and murmured wishes can be heard.

Alexander remains unshaken at the words the mayor said, stating possible deaths of some people in the group. As they make off Alex notices the gnome and smiles remembering the many pleasant meals he had which were cooked by the said chef. His eyes are instantly drawn to the shooting star and even though he isn't a woreshiper of Desna, the shooting star just as they're leaving is certainly more than a coincidence.

He remains silent, wanting to speak once the four of them were alone. If they were going to risk their lives together, they might as well get to know each other whilst on the roat to retrieve the everflame.

Gregor the Roach wrote:
Gregor waits for one of the others to claim the lantern, believing that, even if the townsfolk are willing to send him on their quest, they would not want his half-orc hands to hold their relic. He eyes the others warily, waiting for someone to take on the symbolic burden.

Alexander eyes the half-orc. There is a general dislike of Orcs in most villages like this If he was chosen to be one of the heroes for the test of everflame then he must be trusted. Reguardless, I'll keep a eye on him.

Alexander looks up and is captivated by the importance of holding the lantern, but instead he feels he will function better with both weapons in hand rarther than carrying the lanten and looks to see who will carry the lantern.

Alexander checks his backpack, but doesn't rummage through it, giving respect and waiting for the right time.

That's me saying no so the others can bicker :p

GM Werebadger wrote:

Just making sure everybody was ready. :)

You reach the square at a few minutes to noon. An odd silence fills the square as if there were no living thing but yourselves in the entire town. No dogs or cats wander the streets. Doors stand locked, windows closed and shuttered. A chill breeze blows across the square, heralding the oncoming winter and stirring some leaves as it passes. Not even a bird passing overhead breaks the stillness.

As the sun reaches its zenith, you hear the bells in the Temple of Erastil begin tolling the hour. Twelve long, dark peals ring out across the quiet town. As if conjured by the bells, figures robed in black begin to enter the square from all directions. Their steps betray very little sound, and not a face can be seen among them. The hundreds of robed figures surround you, leaving you in the middle of the square with a good forty feet between you and the nearest figures.

Under the hoods, a whisper ripples around the crowd on all sides. A gap opens in the ring, allowing through a tall, broad man through. His cloak is black, but trimmed with silver. One hand holds a tarnished silver lantern, the other leading a pony dragging a small cart into the ring. Once the cart is fully inside the ring, the wall of black closes once more, sealing you in the center of this ritual. The man with the lantern takes a step away from the ring of watchers. He raises his head, and his hood slides off. Mayor Uptal's blond head pokes out of the robe, and calls out to the surrounding crowd.

"Once again the winter winds blow through the Fangwood, marking the end of another harvest. There are wolves in the woods, howling at our walls, and serpents in our shadows, waiting to strike. Just as it was one hundred and seventy-four years ago, when Kassen himself left these walls to protect us, so it is today. Where are the heroes? Where are the brave folk that will venture out to Kassen’s tomb and retrieve the flame to keep this community safe for another winter?"

Alexander steps forward and bows

"I am one of those heroes, sir." Alexander makes sure to announce loudly as he sounds brave and confident, waiting for the mayor to accept him and wheoever else might arrive to accept this call to heroes.

I'm fine for going straight into the square. Have nothing else to do.

GM Werebear:

Alexander nods as he has his things ready to get prepared.
"The chef? Interesting, I didn't think he was combat capable. Freewater I remember meeting once. He appeared too deep in thought and didn't seem to know when to act." he smiled though he raised his eyebrow. "The Roach? I don't believe I've heard of him."

"Thanks dad." he nods, though not too attached to his adopted parents, he accepted that they looked after him and were there for him. "I better get going once I have everything. I don't want to hold up the group if they're already there." he stated as he made sure to have all his weapons equipped and the pouch of coins he had with his remaining cash.

Boomer the Mad Bomber wrote:

So to gather all of this together, with everything here and in there opening posts in the regular thread (feel free to correct me if I am off):

Alexander Fellblade : moderately well known as a rising star in the militia, though Boomer is probably the only other PC who really knows him personally, with perhaps Gregor the Roach having interacted with him on a purely professional level.

Ama : Boomer would probably know him, the others might recognize the name as one of Ilimara's students, with differing opinions on the worth of the task he as set for himself. He would likewise know of the others' reputation, but probably gave very little thought to it.

Boomer : Everybody knows, and is known, by the outgoing cook with generally good will both ways. Boomer is mildly amused at everyone's elses, including his own mentor's, "youthfulness," while most people in town simply know Boomer as the cook who as been there for as long as most of them, including the town elders, can remember.

Gregor the Roach : Like Boomer, known by everyone, but generally for all the wrong reasons. Familiar with the Fellblade name, and with Boomer's cooking, he is not likely to know personally Ama or Alexander, and even Boomer is probably a little more distant comparatively due to the fact that Gregor probably spends as little time as possible in the tavern for his own reasons.

Sounds good to me :)

Alexander most likely would've spent a lot of time at the guard training so he'd likely run into anyone who would have a run in with the guards and he's more than likely to have run into boomer at lunch time having a meal at where he works as a chef.

Not sure who else, if anyone he would've met.

Boomer the Mad Bomber wrote:
We should probably figure out how well our characters know each other before we get too much farther. After being in town for 50 years, I would imagine Boomer would know, and be known by, pretty much everyone in town, especially since he started out as a cook at the local tavern, and still maintains a regular presence there. At 100 yrs old, he has developed a congenial, laid pack, and patient personality that is still curious about the world around him.

Sounds believeable to me. Especially as you said he's been hanging around for 50 years aand is a active cook who likes to get along with people. I'd believe it as plausable, however this is up to the DM to decide.

GM Werebadger:

Bowing respectively he gives a smile, eager to go as he takes his father's sword, balancing it well before equipping it into a scabbard. He puts on his hide armour before putting on the scabbards of various weapons including the bastard sword he also adds his handaxe, heavy and light maces to be strapped to his hips.
"I am ready to take the test, father. Who are the others that will light the everflame with me?" he asks curiously as he looks at his father and the captain, hoping they know.

Anyway, yeah, you're a great player and we were having a great time with the investigating and my female paladin that just wanted to be a paladin and smite all evil she found, though evil was hiding very well.

Sorry I've not replied sooner, but I'm on a UK timeline and I don't usually get up until late due to no work and all play making me a tired layabout.

Anyway, I'll fix that on the character sheet, it'll most likely be 30 or 20 ft with medium armour but I'm unsure. I'll check online.

edit: medium armour so yeah, slows down.
