Alekos is a young man descended from the European nation of Greece. He has the same lightly tanned skin normally found on people from that region. However, his striking, light blue eyes and short, spiked, white hair allow him to stand out. From a young age, he was told stories about how his family was descended from the old mythical heroes that are known the world over. People like Perseus and Hercules are just a couple of the figures that were his supposed ancestors.
While he loved his own unique appearance, it also got him singled out as a child. The bullies of his Greek school towered over him and picked on him. Unwilling to let them get a victory over him, he retaliated with pranks and jokes that put them in the attention of the principal. They were suspended for flooding out the bathrooms, among other acts. And as Zephyr was leaving school one day, he was ambushed by the group of bullies. Usually able to out race them, thanks to his light build, this time he took a wrong turn and ended up in a dead end. In the ensuing fight, Zephyr was knocked to the dirt and they started wailing on him. In this moment of helplessness, his power of wind awakened. The bullies were picked up into a massive tornado and thrown. They were seriously injured, and the buildings around were demolished.
In the aftermath, his family was forced to move to Japan and Zephyr was immediately enrolled into the hero's academy. This excites Zephyr as he has a chance to become like the heroes of his homeland, a chance to become one of the next generation of legendary figures. In preparation for this, he has been introducing himself in this new home as Zephyr, after the Greek God of the Western Wind.
