GM Chris Mortika wrote:

Sorry, folks; a string of disasters --my job being 'phased out', my mother falling down a flight of stairs back in Missouri, etc-- have kept me from a serious post over the last week or so.

The two men are dressed in loose-fitting yellow robes, tied with simple, unbleached hemp belts. Each wears a silver pin over his left breast, in the shape of a sunburst. They appear to be fit and in excellent health.

The man on the left, shaven bald and six inches taller than his companion, shows you his palms in a short bow. "Greetings, brothers and sisters under the sun. We saw you making your way to the castle."

The other man grins, showing several missing teeth. He's heavier-set with tufts of dark brown hair around his ears. "'Tis true. We thought we'd come out and greet ye, an' see if there were any way we could see t' yer needs, or elsewise assist ye in yer travels."

Do I know if the yellow robes are significant for any reason? A cult, or religion, or some other group?

Spoiler:

GM: Was I able to see if sleep had any effect? And am I able to determine where the swarm is currently, with a spot or listen check?

Spot and Listen (respectively) (1d20+1=9, 1d20+3=13)

If i see or hear them, in their general direction I will shoot my crossbow:
crossbow (1d20+2=21, 1d8=2)

Otherwise:
I cast shield and move to E7

Spoiler:

Aldan stands in A6 (which i assume would be near the bottom left corner) and targets the swarm with a sleep spell, and hoping to position the effect in a manner that wouldn't hit any ally, which may not be likely. If there's no chance to avoid hitting an ally, he'll try to position the effect to hit someone that looks like they could handle it.

Noticing Priapus, I hope that's not poison ivy.

Aldan sits in silence, waiting for an opportunity to show his talents.

Aldan whispers, "Do be careful."

Almost forgot about this game! Sorry! Just rebuilt my new computer, and didn't bookmark the feed..

DM:

Spoiler:

Was the human paladin of iomedae, in the dream aldan had, in fact, merian? Or was it someone else?

"I have a bad feeling about this place."

Aldan tries to stay in the middle of the group, surrounding himself with more capable warriors than himself.

Spot (1d20+1=10)

Aldan,

~Arien aproaches you, sensing that you feel useless in this situation~ Fear not, mage. We will alway have need of your skills. I for one am glad to have you with us.

"Thank you for the words of comfort. I simply hope we can get back to the business at hand quickly. That is all."

Silently contemplating things in the back of the group, Aldan has no skills that would be of any use. Thus he continues to remain silent until his knowledge or magic is of use to the group.

"Yes. Please. Let him in."

Aldan stands, and follows behind Quintus.

"No, I'll go and eat when I'm finished. I want to get a chance to speak with the rest of the group to get whatever intel they may have gathered."

Aldan,

Tess does not mind joining you and she makes sure to wake you early. After waking you and having some morning fun, she mentions that it is time for her to get ready for work.

Be safe if you leave today. Breakfast will be ready soon? Do you have any requests?

"Not this morning, no. I'll have a simple breakfast today, i think. Ham, eggs, toast, and juice. That'll do. Thank you." He smiles, cracking open his spellbook. He will then go to eat his breakfast after his studies are finalized.

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

Did Tess join you last night? I will leave that up to you.

~There is a knock on your door and someone calls out "Breakfast will be in 30 minutes."

Yes, and if possible, I'll ask if she can wake me a bit early. I want to be able to study my spellbook, and make it to breakfast on time.

After having some morning fun, Aldan goes to eat breakfast.

No problem! RL comes first, I understand!

Spoiler:

Knowledge (Arcana), (Dungeoneering), and (Planes) to identify strange creature in first dream (1d20+8=24, 1d20+8=20, 1d20+8=26)

Knowledge (Arcana), (Dungeoneering), and (Planes) to identify any of the creatures in the second dream (1d20+8=17, 1d20+8=20, 1d20+8=21)

After waking up in a sweat, Aldan takes a deep breath and gathers himself. After a moment or two of searching his memory for the identity of the creatures in his dream, he falls back asleep.

"Forgive me, as I don't believe I'll be of any use to anyone tonight. I'll need my rest so as to prepare my spells in the morning. As well, stealth is not my strong suit anyway. Should you find anything strange however, I could potentially help deciphering or determining it's meaning." Aldan pauses for a second, nods his head "If that'll be all for tonight, and I'm no longer required, I shall retire to my room for the night."

I'm assuming it's nighttime now..? If not, Aldan will simply not say the last statement, and sit there quietly.

Yes, 25 words. But she can reply if she wishes

"We could use all the help we can get." Aldan says simply. "Shall we go? I will aid in finding Lyssa, as well as information of these abductors. What say you?" He asks, looking to the rest of the group.

"I think it's agreed then, we will help. Provide us with the details Lady, and I assure you, we'll do our best to retrieve Quintus' apprentice. If anyone has an objection, feel free to excuse yourself." Aldan looks to the rest of the group with a look of seriousness, waiting for someone to speak up.

Looking to our new guest, "Excuse me, can we help you?"

"I'm sorry, I grow impatient. I'll accompany you," indicating Brother Seamus. Aldan stands and bows, "If you'll excuse me." He then follows Brother Seamus to the Lady.

With a long winded sigh, "Perhaps i should stay for a few more minutes. I apologize for my impatience."

"Well, I've enjoyed myself thoroughly. If there's nothing else, perhaps we should retire for the night." Aldan smiles at Tess.

What time is it in-game?

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

~Tess looks at you~ So tell me more about yourself.

"Well, my parents were skilled Magi, so I naturally picked up the talent. I studied from a young age, and applied to a college a full two years younger then their minimum age requirement. It took my parents some time, but after much deliberation, I was finally accepted. I graduated among the top of my class with a specialty in Divination magic, and left to see the world for myself. I've been many places, and came here by chance. I have a sense that this place is the true beginning of my journey.

"Ahem. Sorry for the rant, very sorry!" Aldan looks around the table of guests and stands, introducing himself to the people around, bows to them, and sits.

Merian Benvalla wrote:

Despite herself, Merian manages to catch the mood of the inn, and her glower softens into a grin by the time the gnome and barmaid finish their songs.

As for getting rid of the virgin supply...

"Seems to me that the men would be more replaceable," she says, leaning over to whisper to Idiah and Tess.

Merian and Aldan,

Tess giggles at you remarks and then gives a wicked smile towards Aldan and playfully digs her elbow into Aldan's ribs

Oh, Merian. I don't know. This one seems like a keeper! ~she winks at Aldan and squeezes his hand again~

Aldan smiles, enjoying the performance quietly.

"Lord, have you nothing better to do than stand here insulting people you know nothing about? One day, one of those strangers may prove to be your savior, or your demise." He eyes Granger wearily.

Well, now that my fun is over!

Aldan comforts Tess as she cries, and says softly "I'm not interested in your past, my interest sits with me here now." He smiles at her.

"Sir," he says to Lord Granger, "I don't know what kind of assumptions you have about this lovely lady, but you should treat her as just that.. a lady. Now if you have some issue you wish to resolve, I believe you'd do well with the palm of your hand. Please leave us, you're upsetting our meal."

Edit: Oh, if there's any reason that my character is needed for something, and the thread is moving quickly, NPC Aldan if it's necessary.

"Servant?" Looking perplexed. "No, Sir, not at all! If anything, it is I who is your customer. Say, have you any talents.. other than the acquisition of information?"

"I'm sorry Sir Gnome, my name is Aldan."

"Ah, I think I will! Is he here now?" Curiously asking Tess.

"Oh really?" He says simply. "I assume he's someone of importance then? I'm not familiar with the name Quintus."

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

~Tess smiles at Priapus~ You did good down there, Sir.

~she then snuggles up to you as you two walk downstairs~ What would you like to do? ~Tess asks you~

"Sir Gnome, you don't happen to know of any libraries open this late in town do you?" He says with a smirk as he looks to Tess.

Brother Seamus: Ja, that's what I meant. lol. DM: Unearthed Arcana, or here

Edit: I just thought that it sucks for characters just starting out with no xp if they wanted to scribe scrolls

"So a powerful rich Magister such as yourself could use an acquaintance in an unknown town, not that this lovely vision next to you doesn't have a lot to offer, I'm just saying that I have been known to be able to find out lots of useful information for a person."
~follows them down he stairs~
"and in so doing i should be able to justify some small meager form of compensation such as scrolls or other devices that would be beneath such a powerful lord asyourselfandthereforoffergreatservicetoyouandyours......"
does not seem to pause to catch a breath the entire way down the stairs

"I assure you, I'm neither rich nor powerful. However, I do see the merit in having a 'guide', and I would be willing to part with some gold or even a scroll or two. Though, the scrolls will have to wait for now." He will continue to follow the waitress downstairs.

Just realized, scribing scrolls costs xp.. 1st level characters don't have xp.. that doesn't make sense to me actually

Thank you Priapus for that summary! I'll remember that for tomorrow!

Your character is DEAD!!! j/k! Read the thread and we will continue.

I was just popping on real quick to say that i'm still here, I wont be able to post till tomorrow. I'm about to go to bed, and i work in the morning. Goodnight for now

~Tess winks back at you~ I can show you where the rooms are, but I can't leave here for too long. My shift doesn't end for anotehr two hours. ~she escorts you to where the rooms are~ Here is a good one. Nice and clean. ~she smiles at you~ Perhaps we can meet after my shift for a few drinks, handsom?

"I'll be waiting." He smiles. After getting settled in the room, Aldan is going to ensure that his belongings are secure from would-be thieves. Then he'll take out some paper and scribe some notes for the next couple hours.

Is this 'fight' happening in the dining area? I'm sorry, it seems i've been oblivious to the other PC's actions till now. What does my character see happening in the dining area?

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

Tess winks back at you~ Anytime Handsom. Just give me a call if you need anything.

After Aldan finishes his dinner, he'll signal the waitress that he's done. "Say, I'm new around here, and don't know much about the lodging. You wouldn't mind showing me to a room, would you?" He smiles slightly.

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

~Tess brings you a drink and smiles at you~ Hello there handsom. What else can I get you? ~she rolls her eeyes again as Arien calls for more beer~ Damn drunk. ~she mumbles~

"That'll be all.. for now," he says with a wink, before enjoying his dinner.

"I'll have a glass of Pinot Noir with a salmon dinner."

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

~As you sit down, you notice that the inn is starting to get more crowded. There is a Gnome doing a magnificent job performing some music. One of the waitresses greets you and gives you a menu, asking what you would like to drink~

Is this breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

~as you approach the Inn, merchants try to sell you their wares and a pickpocket almost manages to take your wallet, but you chase him off. You finally get to the Inn~ What do you do?

"Cretins," he says, referring to the pickpocket.

Aldan, upon entering the Inn, will survey the dining area and its inhabitants. After he's made a mental note of the area, he'll take a seat in the back corner to ensure he can see everyone in the room. He'll quietly sit, patiently waiting for someone to wait on him.

DM Sharoth wrote:

Aldan,

~the gate guards smile as they notice you~ Hello there sir. Yous be wanting to enter Cillamar? If so, then let me suggest the Inn of the Slumbering Drake. Best damn inn around. It is over that-a-way. ~pointing in the general direction~

"Hmpf. Thanks," he says dismissingly as he walks to the Inn.

DM:

Spoiler:

Sorry, i have no backstory yet. But i am here.

Aldan can be discribed as a tall slender male, long white hair (well groomed), green eyes, and white robes with red and gold trim. To his right side he carries a book, backback and crossbow carried on his back, and what appears to be a 'walking stick' in his left hand.
