Sorry meant to reply earlier but a cold, the cold, and endless snow (even snowing now again) has delayed me.

I too hope that Aelerie is okay but I am troubled by her abrupt disappearance from all her threads. My fervent wish is for a swift recovery from any misfortune she may have suffered.

Thank you GM for an excellent campaign, you grew from a inexperienced but talented GM to the best I've had. I hope you can continue to bring many great campaigns to life for many years to come.

With the holidays here and Aelerie missing for now, I'm willing to pause for a bit. We can post in discussion every week or so just to check in and resume later at a good time. Hopefully everyone can be back in a bit.

Albus eyes widen in surprise at Laro's word. He starts his reply with a bit of snark, "You're paranoid, Master Laro." But then Albus recovers a bit and says, "Much as I hate the thought of these holy grounds so desecrated you may be right, it just didn't occur to me" Albus waves at the barn, "Please scout out this and if there is no one we'll investigate."

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus remarks quietly to the others, "Most of the tracks are as to be expected but those common of a child and an old man's walk that go in and out of the house are interesting because the child's cease to be around here a few days ago but the older human's are fairly fresh entering the house. Also a few, rare and older marks, apparently human but seem crippled with shuffling and dragging steps that are about, not sure what that's about."

Albus will head quietly towards the barn when Laro signals, keeping his senses sharp along the way.

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30 +4 if human, +2 if reptilian humanoid,+2 If in forest. Yep Albus track and perception bonuses are the same, just works out that way. I may have over done my min-maxing :)

Stealth: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27 +2 If in forest, no tracks left if desired.

sorry boo boo there stealth bonus is only 10 so minus 6 to the result, I'm not Laro!

My sister is doing as well as can be expected, she is a lot stronger so that's good. Feeling much better than earlier this week. I'm now hating on the exceptional cold in this area for Nov. I'm beginning to envy the birds flying (fleeing?) south, they have the right idea.

Also starting to get a little worried about Aelerie she hasn't posted on any of her campaigns since Nov. 1st. Are you okay Aelerie?

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus starts at Javell's comment after his long quietness. He whispers back, "I feel that too, lets quietly look around for tracks, see if anything leads out of this area oddly."

Albus follows suit quietly moving from graves to other reasonable graves (recent dead, his or his friends relatives etc), while trying to see if any tracks lead out of the area, in an unlikely way.

Survival(Tracking): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32 +4 if human, +2 if reptilian humanoid, +2 if in forest.

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Sorry about not posting today my sister had an unexpectedly lengthy operation today, so far so good, but she is weak. I'm not feeling so good myself today, I'll see about posting something tomorrow.

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus goes to where his family is buried to pay respects but says quietly to Aelerie, "I can't hear or see anyone around, that's odd where else would our friendly gravedigger be at this time?"

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus nods at Laro, waving at the barn with a go ahead gesture. From the graves Albus looks and listens to tell if anyone or anything is around.

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18 +4 if human, +2 if reptilian humanoid,+2 If in forest.

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus replies to Laro, "Maybe, Master Laro, but I do believe that if given strong guidance Kimi need not be a terror, just stubborn and headstrong. As to scouting, I think that is a good idea, if you are not seen then Aelerie and I could be visiting recently lost friends at their graves, in what little free time we have these day. Since we happen to be here, just checking in on how is our recent rescued child is doing, out of concern for the horrible things she went through, is excuse enough."

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus smiles at Kimi and says, "Not that dangerous Kimi, you've done much riskier things before in the past. Go home and we'll take care here." At Kimi's other words, Albus continues, "Thanks for letting us know about any magic he may possess, but you have seen what Warpriest Javelle and what our own Aelerie is able to do. I doubt he's better. And you've seen Master Laro and myself in action, you know we can take care of ourselves. Magic is tool like any other, used as weapon, well, if trained and not surprised, one can do much to protect oneself."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20 The Hero of the Vale bonus might apply but I suspect that's long gone with regards to Kimi.

Edit: On the other hand ...

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus sighs and says patiently, "Look Kimi, we don't even know there is something wrong, we did take you seriously; we are checking it out but it needs some delicate touch, okay? That's not you. We want Savra's father to take no offense or things could just be worse. So there's that."

At Kimi's protest Albus holds up a hand, "Kimi I'm not finished. You make a valid point about needing training, I've actually thought about it. I'm just busy right now. I don't want to leave but I may have to. If not I'll start to, if I do leave, by absolute necessity, I'll look for someone good to do it. I know you'll just get into more trouble if you are not taught rightly. You are clever, brave, and strong, but you have no self-control, no disciple. Any good warrior needs that control or they are just a brute and usually a dead one. But a need a week or two to deal with some stuff of our own." Albus tries to be reasonable but suspects that Aelerie or Javelle would have better luck getting through this stubborn child.

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus readily agrees with one exception, "In public say nothing of importance, the gavel will hear it as soon as we do, almost. Savra's father has been odd for some time, it may be overcautiousness but a careful approach should allow for some assessment."

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus listens to Aelerie's plan and says, "We best get inside somewhere too many ears out here." Moving somewhere private, Albus says, "Aelerie, inciting the fey to attack would likely not be difficult, the problem is they are both angry and wild. You cannot expect restraint or discrimination on their part, many are rather dark to begin with. They'd be as soon to hurt or kill all they reach, including your father." Albus sighs and continues, "Master Laro's course of action seems best, keep as quiet as possible and out of sight. The less public, the fewer problems. But I am open to further suggestions to make any plan work well."

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Agree with Laro, best to reconvene.

Albus shruggs and says, "Let's go to Aelerie's home and see what's up there. I suspect that your idea of quietly getting her father out is the best but they will be on guard for that. We'll see." Albus asks the Lady, "M'Lady I thank you for all you can do, the blessing of the Inheritor be upon you, and I ask the boon of yours on the dark days ahead."

Albus says to Laro, "If there is anything else you wish to do here, now is the time Master Laro, or off to see if Aelerie has found out anything."

Off to see the Wizard(ess)! Okay I'll go away now.

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus is disappointed that more support isn't available but not surprised for the same reasons that he outline to Laro. He says, "I'm not so sure My Lady, for the same reason you, the Sheriff and the other goodly people here can do little. Kreed is a bully and if he was alone or with a few standing up would be no problem. But I keep hearing people saying that he single-handedly keeps the camps in line, but whenever I press for specifics on how he does that it's always the same story. He puffs his chest out, looks intimidating and boldly hides behind a line of surly sell-swords and sycophants. Kreed is nothing but he has the support and encouragement of the gavel, the gavel has the entire Lumber Consortium. The Lumber Consortium has a monopoly on the lumber that is used by so many people in this country, I don't even know how many but enough that the country will almost always support them over upstarts like me." Albus shakes a weary head. "An overt action against them will merely play into their hands, indeed it's probably what they hoped for when they did this. Gives them an excuse to get rid of us for good."

Albus looks around at everyone. "I'd be willing to risk my life for a chance against these evil doers; I do blame them for the murder of my father. I did nothing about it. Some of it is because justice isn't simple vengeance but even more it was because innocents would suffer for whatever I did and it wouldn't change a thing. Solve the larger problem and then the smaller become much easier."

Albus stares off to a bleak future pondering the many horrors that await.

There are some problems Albus just isn't good a dealing with. And he's a worry-wart!

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus nods at the Sheriff and says, "Of course Sheriff, I do my best to keep you up to date."

Albus enters the Church a little more abruptly than usual. "Greetings, May the Inheritor bless us all. There are a couple of matters we need to discuss. One I have bones of goodly dwarves from the old monastery that need burial. Two, the Lumber Consortium has decided to move against our little band of ... helpers. They started with holding Aelerie's Dad hostage not that we can prove it and then ..." Albus once again explains the situation as Albus understands it. Albus finishes with, "The Sheriff can do little, so I ask you for any advice you may have to offer, my Lady."

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus sorrowfully shakes his head, "Master Laro, please restrain your justified passions! You are missing the point. If you act illegally, if you commit murder or what can easily presented as murder, then all the enforcers of the law would be turned against you.

The Diamond Legion is assigned to protect the timber trade as its duty. What happens if they get orders to send men to hunt you down? I was, actually until my resignation is accepted, am a member. So good trackers are available and they would follow orders. Even if they knew the full story they would have little choice but to bring you in.

Do not do anything compromising without a plan and definitely do it out of sight. It will not do any of us any good if you are caught or even accused. Justice will come, eventually I am sure, but tread carefully. You are not from here, we - my family, and many others with a great love for this land, for countless generations, find these upstart killers a great horror; if we could have fought them openly we would have done so. We don't, a just war requires a reasonable hope of victory or it is a great sin to start it, just gets many killed and leave an even worse aftermath."

Albus says, "I need to see Lady Cirthana and her help will be invaluable. Then we check back on Aelerie and maybe Master Hildrensocks as well. Master Laro, if you think you can make contact with your friends, unnoticed, that would be all to the good. Just be very wary, friends can be suborned into enemies, and if you are alone have a good escape route ready. I never would let you go alone except I have seen, or more precisely not seen, how good you are at moving unseen and unheard. You alone can be alone without the gravest of danger, right now." Albus does say the last with admiration, and anyone that knows how good Albus is at spotting things should be really impressed with Laro's skill. Albus will try to go to the Church, quickly and quietly. Master Laro can come or follow his own leads.

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus shakes his head slowly at Laro's impassioned words. "I fear Master Laro that, however much the Gavel and his minion deserve a shortening, the letter of the law is on their side. Any open direct action against them and they would have a dozen witnesses to testify that we were the bad actors. Lying is one of their most favorite weapons. They have the manpower, the lawyers, and many politicians on their side or in their pocket. We must move carefully, but I have no good ideas." Albus thinks a second, "If they could be deceived it would work in our favor but I'm not sure they would believe any, they are better at it than I. A seeming break between the Sheriff and I might give them a feeling of things moving in their favor. Hmm, if we could contrive a reason for the Sheriff to arrest Aelerie's dad, and then we do a 'jailbreak'. He'd be a fugitive but we might work something out. I don't like this idea but I see no good options. If we fall out of their sight you can be sure they will suspect where we are going. We'll need Aelerie's clever mind on this." Albus throw out an idea he has little confidence is but seem a loss for a brilliant strategy.

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

Albus sighs and says, "The worst, the LC is making its move against ... well us, the group that went to save the kids. What happened, - I caught only the end of it, but Aelerie's Dad didn't came back home so she and -" Albus relates the tale briefly with any comments by Laro added in. "So, I talked to Laurel, she's willing to leave, if need be, to be safe; honestly she's not to fond of being here, too many bad guys. I don't see a better option for the families, of course I'll stay regardless of what happens but the LC just has too many men and are too underhanded and cowardly to do much openly. But, you have way more experience than I dealing with them." Albus shakes his head, not liking his options.

Albus continues, "Oh, I have a few old bones from the Dwarf ruins that need burial, I need to nip over to the Church and have that taken care of, then check on how Aelerie is doing."

Male Human Ranger/6 | SPD 30ft | Init: +2 | Per: +16/+18 Forest | HP 52/52| AC:19 T:14 FF 15 | CMB +9/+4 +2w/Deft M CMD 20+2 | Status:Normal|F:+8 R:+8 W:+7

At Laurel's observation Albus replies, "Yes, I've started the old path, Uncle Zoius, guided me, through the before."

Is Great Uncle Zoius her grandfather? I don't think you ever said, GM Stargin.

Albus says, "We do need to tell the Sheriff about all this. I also need to give these holy bones to the church for burial and inform the Lady about events too. But I want to make sure Laurel is protected as well. Finish locking up, Laurel, that should keep you sort of safe until I talk to the Sheriff and see what he can do."

If Laurel appears safe, for the moment, Albus will trot off to the Sheriff's office.

Albus sighs wearily, "No, I haven't forgotten Laurel, I just wish this was a social call. The LC is making its move against our little group. Aelerie's father is being, hmmm, 'strongly encouraged' to remain at the lumber camp indefinitely. It's clear he's being held hostage though proving that would be hard. But sadly, you're now in danger; we've become just too popular for the gavel to ignore us now. Aelerie is checking on her mother now. I have to say, I'm not sure what to do." Albus explains what happened at the lumber camp in more detail, with Laro's help.

Albus walks forward slightly puzzled as to why he is approaching the lumber camp but soon realizes that his friends are here. His greeting simile dies when he see Aelerie's tear-streaked face and Laro's furious expression. Albus closes and says quietly, "What's wrong?" When informed of the terrible events, Albus grows most grave. "This is what I feared most, that these cowards would move against those we care about. We can't do this alone, we need to go to town and see to Aelerie's mother, my cousin Laurel, even Master Brickasnurd Hildrinsocks. We also need to inform the Sheriff and Lady Cirthana we cannot stand alone in this. We cannot be sure what other moves they will make."

At Master Laro's words Albus says, "I do agree that Olfden is the best place, the problem is that the ferry is controlled by the LC's. If we do get Aelerie's family there I have a few friends at the Diamond Legion, some would likely look after them. It still would depend a lot on what orders the Legion receives, the Corsortium has too much influence in the government. Still we must start somewhere, but it's your choice Aelerie as to what and how much you are wiling to risk, there is no clear path here."

It may go unnoticed by any or all but Albus has a new pouch, decorated with ancient symbols of protecting and invoking the aid of nature. It would be a clue as to what Albus was up too, if anyone cared.

As mentioned earlier by the GM the board failed when he posted and deleted the post rendering any further posts impossible. The boards here are fragile, the demands on the Paizo website is very high and resources are limited; Paizo is, for all of its successes, still an rpg focused company and making rpgs is not the road to vast wealth (for pen and paper versions computer games are a different ball game, some have reaped vast rewards for a few companies.) So it may be a while before the GM can get the website maintenance to fix the problem.

Dotting in is just making a post in gameplay, then if everything works when you pull up the gameplay webpage it will have a dot next to campaigns you have posted in. I never depended on this because I have found it unreliable, which is worse than not having it at all.

Albus, with his great-uncle's guidance begins the rites to receive Erastil's blessings in the mundane worlds ...

... completing the rites Albus returns to the Place of Meeting at the foot of the beginning and between Heaven and Hell.

The Protector, now a man runs forward to the future, the first words slowing splitting into many words, most he cannot keep, he is still too small. The words that are echos of creation, magic, only a few are kept equal to his small grasp of the shaman's path, the language turns to that of giants and slips away, turns to those of the first worlds the fey language slips away, but the language of the large beasts, the great wyrms, stays and grows. The protector looks down at the scales the cover his skin as he soars through the air, wings beating on the air. Soon he lands and runs again a man and not a beast.

The protector greets his friend, that had played happily with the various woodland creatures, but now joins him, once again to be the protector's guide. They run together to a future drawing near, with choices looming and dangers present.

The protector comes upon those new things leather to put on one's body and new weapons besides a spear now seeming very crude, to be left in the past. His name returns, Albus, and he puts on the Sigil of Erastil high on his chest pointed to his heart. The Sigil of Iomedae is now arraigned a bit lower, still quite honored as she embodies the way of the protector. He straps on his clothing but a new small bag is included. A simple small leather pouch, decorated with small dots burned with a sharp point into it. A pattern that shows eyes and spears in a semi circle point outward from a collection of stick figures around a simple fire. Above that are simple figures of sun, moon, and stars with plants and animals underneath, invoking the aid of the spirits, Great and small to the aid of the bearer.

Albus now runs swiftly to the future foreboding upon him, he know he need to deliver the bones to the church for burial but feel there may be somewhere else he needs to be. The path splits and he must choose the way, the way of the protector. But the old roads, the old ways can be fickle with a will of their own, not as fixed as the new ways, the new workings are. So Albus goes forth to arrive at a time and place ...

... that GM-Stargin chooses of course. Hope you liked that, I explained the real reason Albus knows Draconic, the other is true but minor and left open where Albus rejoins the main narrative to what suits the story the GM is telling.

The tests came back normal no major issues for someone my age so the doc just upped my meds (not the recreationally "fun" ones, just boring) and we go from here.

That's okay, no need for a training montage they rarely work without a killer soundtrack which we don't have.

I had hoped that you had picked up on the idea the Albus sort of went back in time before there were names only descriptions. So I wrote this response to deal with it and keep my idea going but it's your campaign and you can play it as you wish. Same regarding his Uncle/ Great Uncle if you want him to be Gaius (Albus's father) brother instead of uncle just let me know and I'll revise.

Short on time and energy now, seeing the doc soon about my significant weight loss so gotta run, thanks for everything GM Stargin.

After the protector made his petition he feels a pull, his name returns to him and he is in the clearing alone with his Druid Great Uncle, but with nothing around it but a holy peaceful glow, no longer in the mythic past, now in a place where time has no meaning.

Though Albus is not cold he still shivers from his nakedness. But he stands tall and says, "Greetings Uncle, may all be well with you and your family with the blessings of Erastil, the Elk Hunter. I am ready to undertake the trials for the shaman of the path of warden of the woods according to the rites of days long past. Please guide me, as kin, as elder, as holder of the mysteries of the Old Hunter." Albus waits his Great Uncle's response with the respectful patience of the young for the elder wise man.

Kind words indeed GM, glad people liked it. I think this will work to resolve some of Albus's current issues. The last part is his request to be initiated as a shaman of sorts i.e. get the spells I've been ignoring but flavor it as you choose. Maybe I get a medicine bag?

The horned god reference is to the theory that Erastil was once the master of the wild hunt in an age long lost to myth again treat it as you wish.

Awkward segue to medical tests - aside from taking more blood than I thought I had, the tests were swift and easy, I'll know more Monday when I meet with the doctor. (Vampires I tell you, Vampires run medicine! - Gets sedated taken to the happy place, long-term blood supply assure- erk! Just joking right?)

The young one, not a hunter, a child that lost a child and in so doing sought another. Now understanding that he could not save his sister and he could not save another in her place either, it was not meant to be. He sobs out his sorrow bending to the torrent of emotion that was overwhelming him. Then the man was done, accepting what he could not change.

He addresses the high-pitched voice, "I hunt if I must, I enjoy the stalking and the chase. I take no joy in the killing, I have no heart for causing pain and death. I am not a hunter but a man that hunts."

Then to the voice like autumn leaves, "A child needs to be lead, she had a bad leader shown the wrong path, tortured into taking it. I was too late to show a better path. I see little justice here, perhaps a fate I could not break."

To the voice that sounds like gravel yet still feminine, "No shame in survival but survival is not enough, there must be more to strive for. Dark thoughts come to me; I do not choose to dwell on them, they dwell within me."

He talks to the last voice, the gruff one, "I have bent and survived - I cannot change what fate brought but I can accept the path of protector and burden that I must carry with it."

To all and most to the forth voice the protector asks, "I am the protector of the people, that is my place. May I present myself before the horned one, that I may call his spirit into the second dream of the world?"

Okay, sorry for the wall of text, trying to find a way to write the gameplay post was difficult. I wanted a different way of things done and to create some mystery. Albus is a very minor initiate into the verrry old ways. Now there are a few points I tried to give here to make things a little simpler. The opening was just to give the GM an excuse to bend time to whatever he needs to make his timelines work. Most of the rest is just flavor leading to the reason why Albus is there. And to see what guidance he gets. (I think it would be a bit different than that the Lady Cirthana gave, at least in style.)

Now I do not expect, GM Stargin, that you take the time to write in this style, a quick and limited response would be fine. It took a long time to write this more than it should so don't feel like anything more than a normal response is expected. The hints I made can be ignored of course, however you want to play it.

I'll continue after the GM response and the intent is to go back to the village a somewhat more mature man and the goals set in my earlier post achieved.

Albus takes leave of the party. Making sure that he is not followed, then he looks for the markings few know, and makes the his own, and starts for the old trails, the secret trails, the ones that can lead to only one place for one reason, The Place of Meeting. He swiftly moves, time without time passes, minutes or days, hours or months, time ceases to have meaning.

He draws near, now that which holds him must go. He stops and reverently takes it from his neck and hangs the Sword and Sun from a tree. "I love and honor you Lady of Valor, but this is of the old and not a place for the new gods." He goes forth as he must, passing into a valley like many others, like few others. Open and hidden, far and near, the sacred road leads deeper into a wood that knows not civilization, ancient and younger, everlasting. He strips, weapons, armor, he all equipment, and his clothes. Last he takes off the The Antlered Bow and the arrow.

Speaking the old words, he memorized in a language long dead, spoken only here. "I leave the bow behind, to go before the bow, before the herds, to the first hunt."

Naked, a weak shivering creature, hungry and afraid creeps forward. A moment of enlightenment and the miserable being picks a rock and throws it. It hits nothing but the creature is not deterred and take a rock and strike it against another. With the sharp edge created a quick strike and a straight branch falls. A few strikes and a crude spear forms. The creature looks for prey and quietly comes upon a herd, one is lame. A spear is thrown, hits, and the prey is dead. The herd flees, and the hunter takes his due, marking his face and body in the blood of the kill. After making offerings to the Lord of the Hunt, he wraps the meat in the skin of the beast, bringing it forth.

The Place is close now, the hunter calls out - is it even language? "A hunter comes bringing food for the tribe!" He strides forward the clearing in sight. He stops, the rhythm of the hunt falters. He thrusts the spear deep into the ground and snaps it in twain, and abandons it. "A hunter is lost, I do not know the path I must take." Now there seems no path to the clearing but a firefly buzzes by and the hunter follows.

An ordinary clearing like many others, like no other. The Place that is not here or there. The Place of Meeting. The hunter moves forward, the future behind him, toward the center beyond which is the silence before a word was first spoken. To his left, always left, are the fires that burn with hellish hate, to his right, always right, is the light that glows with heavenly love. He prostrates himself before a shrine so old and crude as to have no form. In the quiet, he pushes forth the skin and meat before the shrine. In the first words, the only words, he says, "A hunter brings meat for the tribe. But a hunter is lost, my path unknown to me. I beseech thee-please guide me." Now there are others here, some seem familiar, is that the village fey? Is that a relative? Such questions seem small, now. A voice says gruffly but with love, "Why is the hunter lost?'

The young hunter says "I killed a child, a child of blood not unlike my own. A child poisoned by the bad wolf, the wolf that steals the hearts of men, woman, and children. A child stolen, tortured, betrayed, changed, brought to evil, and I killed her to save another. I could not find the path to save her. I should have found a way, I did not. I need to believe I can find a path again. Without a path I'll be forever lost."

The hunter waits for the those of wisdom, those of age, those of agelessness to offer or spurn guidance.

Sorry to take so long busy weekend.

Parallel is fine by me GM Stargin. The Greenfire circle as a whole would be very hostile to the Lumber Consortium but limited due to being composed of many factions, the Erastilians I see as the moderates because Erastil is not exactly a god of nature, he's the god of fields and forest, the god of (Demi-)humans relationship between themselves and nature. So the Green faith, Gozrehans, and the (mostly fey) Eldest worshipers would be even more hostile to the wanton destruction that has gone on for millennia, that has nearly ruined the Arthfell and Darkmoon forests. Unlike in the Verdunran forest though clearly the fey aren't as powerful there or the situation would be different.

I'm sure that Great Uncle Zoius would be a member, to recap his relationship with him here is the original post from way back in Dec. 2016!

Recap of (Great) Uncle Zoius from post seven:
So here's Uncle Zoius: An Uncle of Gaius, he's an Erastilian Druid, his wife passed a while ago and his children are long grown. His family is spread about the frontier of Andoran. He travels to various communities, helping farmers and woodsmen preaching harmony with the forests. Take only what you use or really need, do no lasting harm. Even clear cutting is okay if you turn it to farmland with care. Greed is wrong, it destroys communities, instead of building them. His crop blessings are much appreciated. He stays nowhere long, coming and going as he wishes. Not even Albus can figure out how he pops in and out of the Vale or elsewhere.

So after all the wall of text what Albus wants in simple: to deal with his guilt of the death of Java which he feels could have been avoided, of course since one of the primary purposes of the Greenfire Circle(GC) is suppressing werewolves they may feel differently. One of my purposes is to finally have Albus get his spells in a natural way. I think a contact spot on the north side of the river foam would exist, the GC using magic means to avoid having to use the ferry to maintain communications to the frustration of the LC. Albus knows where to go mostly likely in the wolf run hills just north of the river foam. By using water-walking or breathing, or tree teleports the GC could cross. These hills are infested with werewolves but dealing with them is what the GC does, but it's not completely safe, much less so for the LC so they don't go there. So that's where Albus will go.

I'll make a gameplay post sometime today, it's taking a bit of time and I have a few things to do, so go ahead and deal with the town stuff and I should rejoin there after.

Thanks for everything GM.

Edit Ninja'd by four minutes!

Edit 2 I've been inconsistent in spelling Zoius or Zaius or other thing but same guy just chalk it up to free spelling and a country accent.

Quite a lot to think about there GM Stargin. If you don't mind I'll take a day or two to think about it. I'm off to some medical tests today so I'll not be available for a while anyway.

Good job for a quiet interlude, interesting as to the details overlooked the first harried time. The challenges were light but very reasonable given how much better we've become. It's nice to have the made clear in a campaign, too often a series of ever greater foes are presented that leave an impression that the players aren't getting anywhere.

Have to go, bye!

Albus says, "I agree with Aelerie, I don't want to provoke more conflict now." Albus gestures to below, "I understand your desire Master Gorat, to cleanse all the evil from this area. Were that all of it I would agree, but this is but one tribe of many. If all the tribes were to gain the impression we were starting a war against them, they could unite to destroy the town, drowning it with numbers. The LC care only for gold, the blood spilled would not matter; they would just hire more workers and sell-swords until the venture became unprofitable then they would abandon all to their fate without a second thought. The town guard are good men but not heroes of legend, strangling a dragon in one hand, a giant in another, while trampling demons underfoot." Albus concludes, "If your people send an army to clear this land of evil, then may blessings of many gods be upon them. But today, I think this tour is concluded and we can turn towards home."

So things are not hurried to much along, Albus intend to lead the party close enough to be safe, but will visit some Erastilians for much needed spiritual renewal.

Albus looks at Aelerie as she whispers to him, catching on Albus thinks for a moment then replies just as quietly, "Perhaps, but we owe him the option, we made a commitment after all, so we should tell him, I think. Do you agree with that point or are the risks too great?" Albus is thoughtful but made a promise.

Albus is awed and humbled by the sight of the glowing anvil. "It does- that is the anvil where the chain broke. And the forge - once hellish is not so, that happened at once. I'll leave it to you Master Gorat to read the meaning of this."

Albus quietly prays to Erastil and Iomedae.

Albus is horrified by Aelerie's statement as to the purpose of the room but covers with a bit of humor. "Well, don't tell the Lumber Consortium about this, they'd want to figure a way to do that to the town."

Albus take a look around the room for anything else of interest and then will lead the party to the other interesting spot.

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20 Check out room. Listen for anything at all out of the room.

Albus is disturbed by the odd quality of the room on his senses. He looks to the more learned members of the party for guidance as to what to do here. "Well? Is it okay to talk here?" Albus asks in a hushed tone.

Albus nods glumly at Aelerie's impassioned denouncement of the misuse of magic. To Gorat, "There is still the room that leads to where the damned soul-stealer did his foul deeds, Master Gorat. And there seems to be a room in the center of this floor that none of us have seen. Doubtful that it's any cheerier than any other room though. Where would you like to go?"

Albus feels pity for the enslaved creature carry on it's duty without true purpose. "This creature was created only to serve it's master, without him it has no purpose, waiting ages for commands that never can come. I suppose it has no spirit but a complete ending is better than a pointless existence. If there are no objections I'll end its pitiful fate." Albus looks around for any objection and if finding none; then carefully looks over the creature to see what weapons natural or otherwise it has or for any means of escape it has. When well prepared he will swiftly attack, after warning the others.

Greataxe attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 16 To hit target. Critical on a 20. Weapon Attunement +1 Hit and Damage, Power Attack.

Albus squeezes to the side to allow Master Gorat a view. "Another scene of horror, a dwarf with a crushed skull; I wonder if it was a suicide? Could this be the remains of the tortured and torturing soul we sent back to hell? I guess we'll never know, but what do we do now? What is that creepy creature?" Albus raises an eyebrow and says with a bit of unusual humor, "Well, how can we turn down such a sinister invitation?" Then a thought strikes him and with seriousness he turns to the others and says, "Did we ever find those shades that the worg wanted us to deal with? So many things we did I can't quite remember if we did; if not this would be a ... not good but a consistent place for them to show up." Albus shrugs and says, "In any case we wish to clear this place as well as possible so in we go.
