Albrέkt assumes the dopple-form of the strange foreign barbarian, complete with red skin, horns and curved falchion.
The vampyr chuckles to himself at his new skin, nodding toward Haruk;
"Hahah! Ve kud be bruders Höllenbrut!"
As the group's journal detailed that they were met with a "holy man" who brokered the assignment to storm the Horn, and through their intel the know a white haired woman who may bear the name Z is their leader... Makes sense of us to claim we've been successful and throw coin and flash some treasure in a tavern? Perhaps even offer up something from the Horn as proof - or if Xanos can fashion a dopple-lefty (or righty) from dead flesh we can claim to have taken the hand from the necromancer who led the den of evil*?
We all of course know Xanos is more of an advisor and strategist to the real leader** of our Knot...
Just a heads up gang that myself and my better half are heading over to UAE tomorrow for 3 weeks. My sister in law graciously paid for the ticket to allow us some time to relax, process the loss of our beloved boy and maybe heal a little.
I anticipate that by the weekend (and the weeks to come) I'll have plenty of time to post, but first few days I'll likely be off the grid as we catch up and fall into a routine.
If you could bot Albrekt as/where necessary and I'll endeavour to get my head back in the game (literally) come time.
Appreciate the patience and understanding shown by you all.
Cheers
BD/Gary
Folks - just wanted to share that yesterday we had to say goodbye to my beautiful red staffy Darby. His passing was very peaceful and he's now free from the burdens his tumour inflicted upon him.
To say my wife and i are broken is an understatement - Darbs was, is and always will be, the epicentre of our lives.
Over the coming days, weeks and months we will heal and come to celebrate his life, but right now things are pretty raw. I may throw myself into distractions and my passions, so posting may be up, but likewise things may take a back seat - should that become the case please bot me when/where necessary.
Cheers
BD/Gary
I can possibly bot her - will likely just be pretty "vanilla" in my approach tho' as ongoing care for my pup is still leaving us pretty drained.
Agree that getting at least one replacement is a good shout.
As per my PM mate - sorry to see you go. Always enjoy our collaborations!
Am sure we'll share a virtual table once again.
Cheers

Albrέkt flashes a jagged smile at Haruk;
"I kan aufrufen (call/summon) Golgotha to meine zide Höllenbrut. Nein need to dizguise his schönheit (beauty/elegance)."

Albrέkt stands stoically listening to the merits of each course of action, motionless for the slow drip of viscous saliva hanging from his maw...
At Haruk's logic, his cold gaze shifts and he speaks;
"Traditionell I vud nicht agree vith Das Höllenbrut, but he makez vorsichtig (canny) point. Zhey schould schütten (spill) zheir truth, so ve knett (know) zheir intent und plan."
The ironclad vampyr smiles, thin skin tightening across his increasingly misshapen features...
"Only vun of zhem is bedürfen (required) Der Hexe perhapsch? Mein Kleine Schwester und I vill leeren (empty/drain) her of truth before ve unburden her blut und seele blood and soul)..."
Fellow Knotters - just a heads up that recently got the awful news that our beloved 9 year old rescue staffy, Darby, has an aggressive brain tumour and only 4-6 weeks left with us.
Our red boy is the epicentre of our lives and this has pretty much shocked us to the core. We're brokenhearted and if over the next few days and weeks my posting suffers please bear with and bot me as necessary.

Belt only would provide a half boon to us undead, so makes sense for the big, bad wolf to get it :)
Albrέkt will take the +1 Spear as a back-up/throwing weapon unless anyone else wants it?
They might be a little gnawed by then, but if your raising them as Skeletal Champions or some such then all that meat and blood is surplus to requirements right ;)
Albrέkt matches his fellow vampyr's jagged grin, then hisses words in the tongue of the dead;
"Die Höllenbrut wünscht sich, dass dies eine bloße kleine Schwester ist. Dennoch wäre es keine Jagd ohne ein Fest am Ende. Einer der Siebten Knoten sollte ja verschlungen werden?"
Albrέkt is also more than happy to conduct the sacrifice if necessary.
8th Level Up: 7th Level Anti Paladin (Seal Breaker)/Knight Errant Cavalier 1
+1 ABILITY INCREASE: Charisma increases to 16
+1 LEVEL INCREASE: Anti-Paladin
+8 HP (d10 HD halved +1; +1 Toughness; +1 Favoured Class) - increase in CHA will also improve Hot Point total
BAB: improves to +8/+3
SAVES: No change (although CHA increase does have an knock on effect with Unholy Resilience
CLASS ABILITY: Smite good 3/day
SKILLS (5 Ranks): Intimidate, Knowledge (Religion), Perception, Sense Motive & Stealth
GMF: Any chance of providing us with a breakdown of the last failed group?
Lifting one of the ruined corpses of the fallen adventurers, the ironclad wretch holds it aloft;
"Ve kud azzume der identitiez ov zhese dummkopf? Dopplegangers..."
Albrέkt sneers as the treachery is revealed, then gives a curt nod at Sariana's affirmation.
"Ve vil dekorieren Farholde vith zheir blut und fleisch..."
The hulking vampyr eyes the seal intensely;
"Hold. Vhat if Der Kardinal vas implizit in zheir verrat (treachery/betrayal)? Vhat zehn Old Vun?"
I concur.
Albrέkt's a creature of action and I'll readily admit that its been difficult not just to plow into the incoming threats and allow the traps and defences be tested...
Think having an active pursuit of side quests (such as the Abbey) promises decent role-play and villainous mayhem potential...
However I do think that Xanos in particular is doing a standup job with our evil stronghold and just because I'm playing a melee monster shouldn't mean we sacrifice the empire building for open battles.
Worth splitting the party? Or will that just create more headaches GMF??
@GMF: Just a suggestion - but might be worth recruiting a group of drop in players to run the adventurers? Gives us a "live" target that will think outside the box?? Would make the encounters pretty memorable and also more meaningful?
Originally envisioned Albrέkt holding sentinel ip at 3-1, but as the cabal of schemers are up there, I'll happily hang where you've positioned me alongside Mien Kleine Schwester and our new watchdog in 1-27.. :)
The putrid mist begins to solidify until it is replaced by an ironclad vampyr.
The towering wretch sneers, flexing its long clawed gauntlets...
"Ich habe immer Hunger (I ever hunger).. Bring zhem tu our feazt..."
@All: Just a wee heads up that I'm off down to Edinburgh (Auld Reekie) tomorrow for a couple of days catching up with an old buddy.
Back Friday but likely (a little) worse for wear. Anticipate normal service will resume o'er the weekend.
Please bot me as necessary :)
Higher in the Horn, a sickly coloured gas hovers... almost unnaturally waiting...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Slammed at work at present - 2020 offshore service budget estimates eating up my time, normal service will hopefully be resumed by weekend.
Albrέkt leers and nods;
"Der dritte level. Zhat izt mien. I vil vait for zhem... All vil be butchered schud zhey kom knokking."
Plan to wait at 3-1 in gaseous form - should they be aware of the entrance there. If any of them do enter via flight or whatnot (and our vampanzer becomes aware) he'll welcome our guest accordingly
Will presume my vampanzer hears of the incoming party as he announces his impending torpor.
At the news of the incomers Albrέkt nods slowly with a jagged grin;
"Vunderbar. Zey vill serve as minn sustinanze for Der Übergang."
To clarify Albrekt's in-game announcement - Urgathoa has spoken to him and commanded he prepares his nesting crypt for his change to a true vampyr.
Essentially at this juncture the vampanzer is somewhat impotent, and I've discussed with GMF that he will essentially enter a torpor (punctuated by bouts of blood-frenzied feeding and other depraved rites) for the foreseeable future.
Am not leaving the game (rest assured) but will have Albrekt move to the background for the time being - he can (and if necessary will) be able to be awoken should the Horn come under grave threat, but sealing himself into his crypt to commune with his Goddess and transform into his true form makes sense to me...
Plus its cool and flavoursome to the campaign and character :)
When the Knot next gather to plot and discuss the progress of the ritual Albrέkt seems unusually animated;
"Fellow mitglied of Der Knotten. Der Blassen Prinzessen hast spoken to me. Der final schtep in Der Übergang beckons to me."
He smiles wistfully;
"I must prepare mien Krypta... Schtock das Speisekammer vith flesh und blut to suztain..."
(Necril): Mitglied = Members; Übergang = Transition; Krypta = Crypt; Speisekammer = Larder
The towering vampyr tastes the air, through jagged fangs;
"Vhen I am in erstarrung do nicht dizturb me... it vud nicht be vise, nor zafe. Rest assured vhen I emerge it vil herald a neu epoche!"
(Necril): Erstarrung = torpor
(Kicks can around the Horn) ... Mmm. Ok.
As discussed the vampanzer is a creature of action so he'll either enter a phase of stasis or start looking to cause bloodshed and mayhem :)

Think we need to get our villain on more to be honest... the ritual and the evil mastermind base is cool an all, but a creature like Albekt is a blunt tool rather than a subtle scalpel.
Waiting for trouble to find us seems a counterproductive use of such a fine bludgeon lol.
Personally I'm up for a seek and destroy mission - wreak havoc and let slip the dogs of war!
How about we destroy the Abbey. Ritually execute a passel of nuns and dress the streets of Farholde with their corpse parts. Plus killing stuff will accelerate the whole level up process much quicker than "ear of elf and wing of dove" malarky.
Happy to conduct slaughter on my own, but its always more fun with some friends...
How else will I be able to say the line:
"Lizten to zhem, Das Kinder of der night. Vhat music zhey make." :[
Umurn Silverfang wrote: Umurn supports the idea of more guard beasts. So does Albrέkt... As what's cooler that a horde of Guardian Beasts?
Vampiric Guardian Beasts of course! :)
Ah the Unholy Grail of 9th level... Myself and Sari feel your pain Hollenvulf.
@GMFang: Perfect. Most likely my plans will have changed by 11th but you never know :)
Molasbar wrote: Umurn Silverfang wrote: We have a very interestingly varied party, religiously. :D I guess the two of us being devout Asmodeans makes us the biggest religious block. Feh. Two devout Asmodeans are still lesser than one zealot Urgathoan ;)
Its not how you eat the feast - its how it tastes :) Urgathoa welcomes any and all to her cold embrace... :)
On a side note Divine Defiance is a very apt feat for Sari.
Sariana Nightsong wrote: Shame the crystal wouldn't work for me... oh well, just have to be sneaky instead :D Just become a worshipper of Der Blassen Prinzessin little sister! You know it makes sense :)
@GMF: This is one for the future as my 9th Level Advancement Feat pick is a lock on the final Vampire feat... However at 11th I'm mulling a change of steed... would Skaveling Companion be permissible (even though he's not an urdefhan?).
RE: Necrografts - cool, honestly saw them as purchased add-ons anyway, so am more than down with that.
Also looking for someone in our company to create a Pallid Crystal for our vampanzer. (Allows him to be healed by both positive and negative energies - effectively rendering a "good" aligned priests healing damage to him moot... :)
@Haruk: You being our Lootkeeper General would be most appreciated :)
Regards the notion of dominating Martha and using her to lead other adventurers (or Sisters) into ambushes is a great idea - it will weaken Farholde while at the same time providing a challenge/fodder/foes for our hive of villainy.
Albrέkt needs a well stocked larder (that doesn't involve worrying about Xanos stealing them for raw materials).
Once he's a full-blooded vamp he'll begin to enthrall the Orphanage in Farholde - Der Hungrige Kinder (The Hungry Children), and plant the seeds of turning the city into a necropolis...
On a side note - Xanos can your necrografts work on undead? If so Albrέkt has some personal mods to make him a more "unique" servant to his Mistress...
In Farholde ,Albrέkt assumed a variety of guises...
As the dverg merchant Edensor Hochmettle, he presses the flesh and flashes the coin to secure a quantity of mithril required for his smithing operations.
Then as the stooping old sage Opa Langenschlaf he attends the local cemetery, grumbled intent to research the legacies and dead bloodlines of the local families and petty nobles.
During the daylight hours he holes up in a tavern room, and latterly in a sequestered crypt the brute breaks open...
Albrekt will be heading into Farholde, and feeding until fit to burst.
Also plan to spy on the Cocytian Knot - seeking ways in which we can frame them for anything we are suspected of... and if the opportunity arises thin out their herd.
I'll fire up some RP in Farholde...
Team Vamp could take the corpse to Farholde, have it discovered there? (Frame one of the Cocytian Knot for her murderdeathkill)
Conversely as Haruk suggests could take news of her death to the Abbess - gain some coin/credit with the Nuns... (Enough detail to draw some of the Sisterhood out into the field and while their number is thinned sack and defile the Abbey... Or kill those sent out to recover fair Martha?)
Spitballing ideas.
Albrέkt salutes Umurn with his blade before sheathing the weapon;
"Bravo Höllenvulf. To even hold your own againscht ein Unheilgen Kreiger des Blassen Prinzessin (Unholy Warrior of the Pallid Princess) izt impressive..."
The vampyr chuckles dryly at his fellow undead's comment;
"Magicks höllisch vud nicht make a difference mein Kleine Schwester... Perhapz next time he schud fight you little vun?! "
Albrέkt runs a gauntlet'ed hand over the dent in his breastplate, then smiles;
"Vunderbar... You are impressive Höllenwolf, but I am nicht ready to yield yet..."
From his fingers green flame flickers, wreathing those areas where Umurn hit in sickly fire... (Touch of Corruption - Swift Action on self)... mending and healing the damage wrought.
Touch of Corruption: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) = 9 (HP now 24/73)
The vampyr chuckles dryly;
"Ach. How remizz of me. I schud share Urgathoa's blessing..."
He reaches for the infernal priest
Touch Attack (Standard Action - does not provoke AoO): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5) = 15
The last smash from the infernal werewolf gives Albrέkt pause, bringing a hiss from the vampyr's half helm.
Enraged he swings wildly, seeking retribution...
Melee (Power Attack): +1 Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
... but the cleaving blow is easily avoided by the cunning lycanthrope.
FINISH HIM! lol
Apologies - was hit by a series of storms last night that kept knocking home interwebs out.
While Albrέkt does not address the unholy lycanthrope's resistance to his blade's edge, he does react to the tang of bestial blood from their duel...
The ironclad wretch begins to drool from his jagged maw as he once again presses home a series of slicing attacks;
Melee: +1 Greatsword: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (3, 4) + 8 = 15
Melee: +1 Greatsword: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (6, 4) + 8 = 18
I'll try not to drag out your agony ;)
Albrέkt pauses as the werewolf remains standing after his first attack, and replied with an equally powerful blow.
"I aktually felt zhat Höllenwolf. Bravo."
He replies with a series of slashes at the armoured lycanthrope;
Melee: +1 Greatsword: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (3, 6) + 8 = 17
Melee: +1 Greatsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (1, 1) + 8 = 10
The first blow lands heavy, while its follow up is somewhat wide of the wolf...
No call on the spell - no rules of engagement in this hive of scum and villainy :)
Albrέkt hacks a death-rattle chuckle at Umurn's actions, moving forward to bring his raised heavy blade chopping down at the priest of Hell;
Power Attack Melee: +1 Greatsword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (2, 1) + 14 = 17
Am actually thinking a round by round might give us more drama?
Makes sense to me - say fire a couple of rounds of combat/damage and take it from there?
Kurse you Kleine Schwester lol!
In all seriousness am not sure how a full on bout won't end with one or both of us incapacitated... :S
The hulking wretch emits a low hiss at his sister exposing his (unfair) advantage...
Dragging his notched greatsword free of its scabbard, Albrέkt takes a practice swing;
"Vhen you are ready Höllenwolf."
(Non-lethal damage then? ;)
Albrέkt pauses, mulling the sage necromancers words.
The vampyr turns his cold gaze back to the brooding werewolf offering a nod and a jagged smile;
"Danke Old Vun - I vil. Challenge accepted Umurn Vulf. Veapons or Zahn und Klaue (Tooth and Claw)?"
